https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/09/21/politico-and-cnn-sue-trump-over-white-house-ban/

All major US TV networks are boycotting Donald Trump’s official engagements after he banned CNN from the White House.

Mr Trump said on Friday he was banning the network – along with MS NOW and Politico – shortly after he was reportedly shown clips by his aide Natalie Harp of MS NOW anchors criticising his administration on air.

The announcement apparently came as a surprise to many of Mr Trump’s advisers.

But he is known to be particularly fond of Ms Harp, who has earned the nickname of “the human printer” because she is responsible for handing him printouts of news reports or other important information.

CNN had been scheduled on Monday to be the “TV pool” camera crew, which is responsible for following the president and broadcasting his engagements to all networks.

The pooled coverage duty rotates among the major news networks, which then share the footage with each other.

CNN was removed from its pooled coverage responsibilities following Mr Trump’s ban.

But the other news networks in the pool – Fox News, NBC, ABC and CBS – decided not to provide a replacement in solidarity with CNN, marking a major escalation in the feud between Mr Trump and the media.

“The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organisation because it objects to its reporting,” a joint statement from the five networks said.

An email sent to TV pool subscribers on Monday said: “Effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the president,” according to CNN.
>>
The footage is not only shared with the other major networks, but also local affiliates and international outlets, meaning the decision not to follow the president has major implications for coverage of the White House.

Kaitlin Collins, CNN’s chief White House correspondent, said on the network on Monday that it meant “when the president does anything today, there will be no TV camera with the president that is broadcasting and sharing this footage”.

CNN, Politico and MS NOW also announced on Monday that they were filing a lawsuit against Mr Trump over the ban.

He had declared the ban “as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ fake news”.

Reporters had their press passes deactivated and were not able to access their workspaces inside the White House, and broadcasters were forbidden from using their television equipment on the grounds.

In a joint statement, the media outlets said they had informed the government that they would file a lawsuit on Monday and that emergency hearings could take place as early as this week.

“Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists’ credentials because it objected to our reporting,” they said.

“Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference.”

Politico is part of the Axel Springer group, alongside The Telegraph.

The ban marked a clear escalation of Mr Trump’s long-running efforts to restrict news coverage by journalists he finds objectionable.

Writing on Truth Social on Friday, the president said: “Media outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”
>>
He'll do something absolutely absurd to have them all crawling back.
>>
Betsy Klein and Akayla Gardner, White House reporters from CNN and MS NOW, said they had been turned away and their press badges deactivated upon arriving for work at the White House on Saturday.

Soon afterwards, Politico said Cheyenne Haslett, its White House reporter, was also denied entry and had her badge confiscated.

It is extremely rare for a news outlet to be barred from the White House.

However, Mr Trump banned a CNN reporter in his first term and Richard Nixon, the former president, restricted The Washington Post for its reporting on the Watergate scandal.

In Mr Trump’s first term he was openly hostile to the media, and after returning to the White House he has launched frequent and persistent attacks on mainstream news outlets.

The White House has also taken control of selecting which journalists belong to the pool allowed inside key spaces such as the Oval Office and Air Force One.

The administration has replaced some traditional or legacy outlets with pro-Trump social media influencers, podcasters and Right-wing commentators.

In 2025, Mr Trump also barred the Associated Press from some events because of the news agency’s decision to continue using the “Gulf of Mexico” instead of calling the body of water the “Gulf of America”.

He took aim at Politico on Friday, repeating his false claim that it had received “an illegal and ridiculous $8m (£6m) million)subscription” from the US government “under Crooked Joe Biden”.

Politico has denied the claims that it received subsidies or grants. Instead, in 2024, federal agencies spent more than $8m subscribing to Politico to use its services for legislative and policy tracking.

I agree, he's that desperate for attention from the media.
It's going to be interesting to see how he reacts when the media starts focusing on the 2028 candidates and he gets pushed to the side. Will he try to make 2028 entirely about himself, even if it costs the Republican nominee the election? Probably.
But either way, once 2029 comes around he's out. What do you think suddenly being yesterday's news after a decade of being the most talked about man in the world will do to the psyche of an attention starved narcissist like Trump?
>>
>>1538186
>Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference.”
I've never understood how access to the WH is somehow a fucking right.
>Omg we can't do our WH briefings where we ask canned questions and get canned responses from the WH press secretary
>>
This is a perfect opportunity for the president to promote real news in this country. We need a new press pool at the White House badly, not these America-hating liggeral liars. Where's FOX?
>>
>>1538185
Remember, it's entertainment when Fox gets caught lying. It's a crime against the state when it's CNN.
>>
>>1538191
Focusing on President Trump's numerous successes is exactly the winning strategy Republicans need though
>>
>>1538204
When did CNN get caught lying?
Fox is stlil being sued over how they went with Trumps 2020 election lies
>>
>>1538208
They lie Everytime they speak about President Trump. Every single time. If you still believe the liggeral owned MSM, than there is no convincing you. You are brainwashed
>>
>>1538215
Like you mom was lying when she told you she didn't drink heavily when she was pregnant with you?
>>
Shocked FOX went along with this, but I guess even those shitstains have lines they won't cross.
>>
>>1538217
I think they have a few people that are holding on to the hard lines they can't cross in order to pretend to be a news station, the equivalent of the quality control guy at a shady meat processing plant making sure that their meat never contains more than 5% of bug parts
>>
>>1538217
They recognize that if they let him keep doing this, they'll be completely banned from the White House under a Democrat admin.
>>
>>1538185
Does this mean we won't have all the fucking constant bitching about Trump?
There's no way that'll happen.
>>
>>1538185
If it's a boycott, why is another Alex Springer SE holding (German owners of Politico) reporting on it?
>>
>>1538237
They'll boycott Trump for about a week then he'll have a meltdown because he's not getting enough attention and quietly let them back in
>>
The MSM put him in office in the first place.
You young 'uns probably don't remember his '92 trial run. The DNC laughed at him and the RNC had daddy Bush, so he tried an indie campaign. Nobody supported him and the press all laughed.

He got elected in 2016 because everyone covered him from the start. Even when the primaries started, the RNC was supporting Jeb Bush right up until he opened his mouth. But the rallies were all about Trump and Bernie. They held rallies in the same cities, often on the same days, and Bernie was drawing just as well as Trump the whole time.

Trump won the RNC primaries, and Bernie got absolutely hosed by the DNC from the start. There was election fraud in 2016 ... in the Democratic caucuses.
>>
>>1538247
trump has the same criminal backers reagan did, and those scumbags want nothing more than a figurehead who is used to doing things on camera for attention
>>
>>1538244
Nah, he fired the guy in charge of fake news and replaced him with a crony.
>>
>>1538251
Are we bringing back Obama?
>>
>>1538192
It's called freedom of the press, it's why liberals won't be allowed to dismantle the conservatively controlled media even though they constantly lie and brainwash people to vote against their economic self interests.
This is why Fox News is against what trump is doing, they absolutely know that if a democrat with balls got in, he'd instantly shut them down citing trump's precedent.

Either way, he got absolutely humiliated today with zero sound. Ironically, this isn't the first time he's ranted to the press in front of Marine One, Colbert actually made a bit out of it before Project 2025 and trump got him censored and removed.

Considering "the media" has become corporate propaganda, I'm OK with this.
>>
>>1538322
All you need to do is bring back trust busting. Like a no brain is not only revoking the WB and Paramount merger, but force the WB and Paramount the break up.
Or actually enforce ownership laws which far right wing propaganda groups like Sinclair is already breaking.
Also enforcing the equal time law that Project 2025 brought back, for radio would knee cap the right wing monopoly there.
>>
>>1538325
Trust busting won't really work in the modern age.
Reason: modern "trusts" are investment firms.
Blackrock and Vanguard are the trusts these days and legally not considered such.
And with Democrats rubber stamping these mergers, along with Republicans there's no hope there.
The US is a cultureless, raceless economic zone controlled by investment firms.

And that's a problem how?
BTW, we need to prosecute Susan Collin for taking bribes and trump for obstructing the investigation into Collins
>>

The problem is that congress would have to pass the law.

Also Biden did try to prosecute her, but Trump came into power right as they were about to file charges and killed the investigation.
>>
Trump's greatest crime is in successfully destabilizing the US food supply. Rectifying this will be the first task of the incoming president
>>
>>1538575
Rectifying the damage he's done to both the food and health systems of the US will take decades. Plus not even a massive bailout of the farming industry will help with how many are already closing up shop or retiring with no successor.

>>1538581
>Damage

>>
>>1538582

>>Constant recalls
That's a good thing.
>Hundreds to thousands of farms either on the verge of bankruptcy or already there
I don't see how that's the admins fault.
>>General dismantling of systems meant to prevent or contain outbreaks and contaminations leading to more of both of the above
That's a general accusation. What evidence do you have to support it?
>>
>>1538587
>That's a good thing.
No it isn't. If things are being recalled more often than that means they're hitting the market with issues and contaminants more often when they should be caught before they get shipped out.

>I don't see how that's the admins fault.
This admin caused a fertilizer shortage from the war with Iran, dismantled systems meant for detecting and containing viral outbreaks at farms, and then when the farmers begged them for help they instead stabbed them in the back and went to foreign sources to temporarily slightly lower prices while leaving local producers out to dry.

>That's a general accusation. What evidence do you have to support it?
Did they or did they not cut several CDC positions, studies, and regulations? Oh wait, they did.
>"We had a national advisory committee, a committee that advised FDA and USDA on how to prevent microbial contamination in food," said Mayne. "That advisory committee was disbanded. We used to convene meetings with our Mexican counterparts on how we can work together to improve food safety. That entire team was let go."
>And then there's FoodNet, a joint venture of the FDA, the CDC, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture that provided an early-warning surveillance program that used to track eight particularly nasty microbes. But now, it tracks only two – and cyclospora is not one of them.
>In 2011, Congress passed a food-safety bill that included a Traceability Rule. It said that any food-related company must keep detailed supply-chain records for vulnerable ingredients, all the way from the fields to the store. It was supposed to take effect this year. "I can tell you, having seen lettuce tracebacks, that would've been incredibly helpful," said Mayne.
>But the rule has been delayed until 2028.
>>
>>1538591
>No it isn't. If things are being recalled more often than that means they're hitting the market with issues and contaminants more often when they should be caught before they get shipped out
Do you have data to support this?
>Admin caused fertilizer shortage
No, war in Ukraine did that.
>But the rule has been delayed till 2028
Yes.
>>
>>1538594
>Do you have data to support this?
Yes, it's called common sense you retard. If more things are being recalled for obvious issues and contaminations, that means those things aren't been caught pre-sell.

>No, war in Ukraine did that.
No, war in Iran did that because 1/3rd of our fertilizer supply comes through the strait of hormuz. In fact, the war in Ukraine did very little to how much fertilizer we get from Russia because it was one of the few things excepted from tariffs.
>>
>>1538596
>Yes, it's called common sense you retard. If more things are being recalled for obvious issues and
Do you have data to suggest that more things are being recalled?

And if *more* things are being recalled that suggests that there is more testing identifying more issues. Less testing would mean less recalls.
>>
>>1538596
>No, war in Iran did that because 1/3rd of our fertilizer supply comes through the strait of hormuz.
Incorrect. The US gets 40% of its fertilizer from Canada and 20% of it from Russia.
>>
>>1538598
>Do you have data to suggest that more things are being recalled?
Yes and this admin is actively lying about it.
>https://www.marlerblog.com/case-news/fda-told-the-country-not-to-believe-the-fake-news-and-posted-a-chart-susan-mayne-pulled-the-same-dashboard-and-found-the-chart-is-not-about-food-and-that-food-recalls-are-running-toward-an-eight-yea/

>And if *more* things are being recalled that suggests that there is more testing identifying more issues. Less testing would mean less recalls.
No retard; if a product is contaminated, then a recall is inevitable because people will start to notice when they get sick. We're doing less testing, which means more recalls when the product is already on shelves.
>>
>>1538208
>When did CNN get caught lying?
>hands up don't shoot
>>
>>1538599
>The US gets 40% of its fertilizer from Canada and 20% of it from Russia.
Wow cool numbers anon. You may notice that doesn't add up to 100% and 1/3rd equals around 33%, which fits between the other two supplies.
>>
>>1538603
>You may notice that doesn't add up to 100% and 1/3rd equals around 33%, which fits between the other two supplies.
Domestic suppliers exist, dipshit. We import about $9B in fertilizer, we get $350 million of it from the ME. That's about 3.8% not 33%.
>>
>>1538604
>We import about $9B in fertilizer, we get $350 million of it from the ME. That's about 3.8% not 33%.
Except this leaves out that
a. Fertilizer is a global commodity and the general loss of supply from the strait affects prices everywhere.
and
b. We get 20% of our Diammonium Phosphate and Monoammonium Phosphate from the strait, which we need for fertilizer.
>>
>>1538606
>Fertilizer is a global commodity and the general loss of supply from the strait affects prices everywhere.
MIGA faggots love pretending that the US produces enough to be self sufficient while ignoring their other arguments that US producers should be able to sell outside the US for higher prices
>>
>>1538616
Or the completely delusional idea like cutting off all foreign markets isn't going to cause a massive price spike.
>>
>>1538617

Defunding the FDA and USDA.
Dumping food inspectors.
Trump has done to the food industry what Reagan did to the airlines ... deregulation followed by decades of failures.
>>
>>1538619
But the FDA and USDA have been finding more contaminated food then ever. That's why they keep issuing recalls. You can't recall a food problem you don't detect.
It's like complaining when Elon fired 90% of employees at twitter and still managed to generate more traffic and more revenue for the company.
>>
>>1538621
Have you ever considered that I'm a liggeral with TDS, thus totally immune to logic and reason though?
Therefore, the damage is done and Trump caused it, despite inspections finding more contaminated food, the FDA's job, it's still broken.
Because I believe that Trump eats truckloads of of food that makes him really gassy, then farts on all the food post-inspection.
>>
>>1538621
>But the FDA and USDA have been finding more contaminated food then ever. That's why they keep issuing recalls. You can't recall a food problem you don't detect.
If they were finding more contaminated food that's been shipped, that means they've been allowing more contaminated food through their inspections you fucking idiot.
>>
>>1538621
>It's like complaining when Elon fired 90% of employees at twitter and still managed to generate more traffic and more revenue for the company.
yeah no. He fired 90% of their employees than had a massive drop in revenue. The company is worth half as much as it was when he bought it and they're still down compared to how it was pre-purchase. The only "improvements" on a financial front is that they had to pay less people. It may have given him a massive amount of influence but objectively the company has only made less money since he bought it.
>>

The other is a bit more questionable. But ultimately it was a gay jewish man acting a fool on behalf of foreign nationals in the country illegally.

>What is supposed to be the point of arguing with a schizo who has his own headcanon?
Nothing I said was untrue, which is why you can't argue against it and instead try to dismiss it as schizo-post. You're just as bad as the esl-shill bot.

Renee, Pretti, and everyone shot by ICE didn't receive a fraction of the vile celebration of their deaths that the left gave Charlie Kirk. So you and everyone else on your side can shut the fuck up forever about how the right wants the left dead. Until thousands of conservatives start hitting the griddy on TikTok over dead leftists, you have no ground to stand on.

Because the mods don't give a fuck about this board. They'll only ban someone if a racial slur is involved or someone starts a blatant "give me money" thread.
>>
>>1538734
god you're esl
>>
>>1538306
no they don't if they did they wouldn't need a press pass, its a privilege. Otherwise any hoot can go in claiming to be the press and effective commit espionage in the white house.
You your uncle and your dog can go in pretending to be press in that case
>>
>>1538734
>Nothing I said was untrue.
Everything you're saying is untrue, I can't believe you haven't been called out, most people probably just don't think you're worth the time.
>You
Democrats aren't a monolith you propagandist fuckwit, you're either a bad faith actor or a moron.
>We
Republicans aren't a monolith you propagandist fuckwit, you are either a bad faith actor or a moron.
>"WE" didn't celebrate the deaths of Good or Pretti
There's literally been threads about how those deaths were 'Pretti Good' on this board you pearl-clutching, memory-holed, hypocritical fuckwit.
I mean for fucks sake, neck hole himself praised david depape as a hero for beating paul pelosi with a hammer, said someone should pay his bail.
>"You" make fun of neck hole's hilarious death.
I do because it's fucking funny he got to die for his beliefs and his wife seemed glad to be rid of him by his memorial.
The larger point is who cares about your fucking pussy-ass pearl-clutching? Fuck your crocodile tears. I mean you're fucking wrong, you bloodthirsy closeted faggots celebrate the torture and deaths of your political opponents constantly, its fucking retarded to pretend you don't when all I have to do to prove you wrong is scroll down a bit, and even more retarded to virtue signal or demonize entire political parties based on the actions of individuals; but you don't really care about that, your morals are as flexible as your lack of fucking backbone.
>>1538699
>This is a japanese image board
This is an international current events board, hence nobody speaking japanese or posting images here beyond the first post. I know that's fucking pedantic, but so is the start of your premise.
>There's too much clutter and spam by people talking about esl spam on the board. I should clutter the board by talking about esl spam.
Good strategy. The internet is different now, there's bots everywhere. I don't know what to tell you, if you don't like it go outside.
>>
>>1538747
>The press doesn't have a right to report.
Yes they do you absolute fuckwit.
>Otherwise they wouldn't need a press pass
the press pass doesn't give them the right to report you fucking retard, it just gives them access to restricted areas. The credential exists to keep every fucking guy with a blog from wandering into a secure government building, not to give the president the power to restrict reporting he doesn't like. Using government access as leverage to punish journalists for unfavorable coverage is exactly the kind of government pressure on the press the First Amendment is supposed to prevent.
>>
>>1538782
are you fucking retarded or do you not even understand your own argument?
trump isn't stopping their ability to publish he's removing their press passes. you in >>1538306
are claiming they have a right to report on shit, and now you're claiming that means they're entitled to a press pass. fuck off retard
they can still report it they just won't have insider information.
so can you argue properly or fuck off and stop being a retard.
>Using government access as leverage
Ahh yes but democrats using their influence to implement a censorship blockade is fine it's been outright stated by meta democrats actively censored unfavorable news during the biden administration. God i love the fucking hypocrisy if you didn't care about it when it was your time in power then kindly get fucked now that you're not.
>>
Fox News is the only unbiased news source anyways
nobody cares about libtrash fake news media. the should have been banned decades ago
>>
>>1538792
>I'm stupid and I don't understand your argument.
I know.
The argument is the white house has an obligation to communicate with the press, that's how we as citizens stay informed and demand accountability. The president interfering with this by revoking passes of outlets that cover him unfavorably is a violation of the first amendment, which enshrines the freedom of the press, not just speech.
Not everybody has the right to cover the white house. Major news networks do have the right to cover the Whitehouse, and we have a right to access that coverage.
C'mon. I know there is a modicum of nuance that a fucking three year old wouldn't fucking struggle with there, but I bet you can get it if you concentrate real hard!
>Whataboutism.
1. You're such a faggy little bitch you can't stay on track, you have to pivot to a false equivalence where you paint some other guy to look as bad as your guy, because you understand your guy is indefensible.

Biden did not directly threaten licenses or members of the press for negative coverage. Cope harder fascist faggot fuckhead.

>>1538837
>the should have been banned decades ago
god you're ESL
