Murders of transgender people primarily motivated by ‘intimate partner violence’ — not hate: report
https://nypost.com/2026/09/22/us-news/transgender-people-have-lower-murder-rate-than-general-population-crimes-usually-committed-by-partners-report/

Transgender people are murdered at lower rates than the overall US population — and when they are, the killer’s primary motive is usually not bias, according to a pair of researchers.

The findings, published by the right-leaning Manhattan Institute’s Vincent Lundgren and Colin Wright earlier this year, seemingly debunk claims by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and other nonprofit organizations that there is an “epidemic” of deadly violence against the trangender community driven by “transphobia” and even “white supremacy.”

“Transgender people are less likely to be murdered than the rest of the population, most transgender people are murdered by members of their own race, and intimate partner violence — not hate — is the leading identified motive for most such murders,” Lundgren and Wright found.

The researchers investigated more than 300 murder cases dating back to 2015 where the victim was transgender.

In the cases where suspects were identified, black suspects accounted for 65% of perpetrators, while white suspects accounted for 18%.

“This finding is not the result of one bad year or a handful of outlier cases,” the researchers stated.

The report noted that in 2020 — the year HRC attributed the deaths of “our Black trans siblings” to “an epidemic of violence” fueled by “systems of white supremacy” — not a single white suspect was identified in the cases the Manhattan Institute researchers verified.

Confirmed hate crimes were only found in 3.3% of cases the Manhattan Institute studied.
>>
“The leading identified circumstance of the murders was instead intimate partner violence,” the researchers wrote. “Other common circumstances included sex-work encounters, disputes, robbery, and other forms of interpersonal conflict.”

“In other words, the dominant pattern is not hateful white men hunting down black transgender victims because of racism and transphobia,” they continued. “It is violence between people who know each other, sleep with each other, live around each other, or encounter each other in high-risk contexts.”

The researchers also found that between 2010-2014 the transgender murder rate was roughly one-seventh what it was for the general population.

During that 5-year stretch, 3.66 per 100,000 transgender people were murdered. The rate among the general population was 25.8 per 100,000.

They found the homicide rate of young black transgender women (69% of all victims) to be “approximately one quarter that of young Black non-transgender men.”

“Misleadingly, these male victims are usually compared with black non-transgender women (females), which makes their homicide rate look unusually high for ‘women,’” the researchers noted.

HRC did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Yeah and I'm sure they have no reason to fudge the results.

This is an incredibly misleading statistic. Not only is this comparing one singular small group against the entire rest of the population, but it also ignores the fact the rate of trans murders fucking tripled within the last few years.

There's also the fact that this seems to ignore the fact "intimate partner violence" can very much include transphobia as a reason. It's like if you excluded misogyny as a reason behind a woman's death because the person who did it was her husband; one can lead to the other.

Do you have an issue with the data or methodology that you can identify, or are you going to disregard the report because it has a finding that ruins a narrative you like?

Well for one deciding to say "It's just biological males killing biological males" basically disregards the entire point of studying the homicide rate of a non-ethnic minority group. Secondly, saying that "the leading identified motive is intimate partner violence" is INCREDIBLY misleading when you look at their actual data and see the vast majority of trans murders have an unknown motive. And thirdly, their data for motives is also very poorly thought out as it basically tries to separate motives based on what was determined to be the primary one while refusing to acknowledge how they can lead to another; like listing sex work motives separate from hate crime motives without even an acknowledgement that one can lead to the other.

I'd also really like to see where they got the numbers for who they consider to be trans because it seems like they refused to acknowledge closet cases or the many times where a victim is misgendered post-mortem in reports, meaning their number of cases for the study is much lower than the true amount.
>>
>>1538584
>Secondly, saying that "the leading identified motive is intimate partner violence" is INCREDIBLY misleading when you look at their actual data and see the vast majority of trans murders have an unknown motive.
No its not. The statement is qualified by the inclusion of "identified motive" which suggests that unidentified motives exist.

Idk why it's so shocking that "it's partners killing each other" is the finding.
>>
>>1538585
>No its not. The statement is qualified by the inclusion of "identified motive" which suggests that unidentified motives exist.
That's what mean by "misleading". This implies that most cases are partners killing each other, when in reality most cases have an unknown motive. Technically speaking it's correct as far as their findings show, but in reality it downplays how literally over half of their findings have an unknown motive by just implying the existence of unidentified motives instead of saying the truth that unidentified motives make up the majority of their findings.
>>
>>1538588
The study is of identified motives. You're complaining that they didn't study what you wanted them to.

If you're doing data analysis, you analyze the data you have not the data you wish you had.
>>
>>1538590
>If you're doing data analysis, you analyze the data you have not the data you wish you had.
They do have data. The data is the majority of cases had unsolved motives. The fact the conclusion they're promoting is that the majority is partner on partner violence when they KNOW it's dwarfed by unknown causes is a sign of how dishonest this study is.
>>
>>1538592
>The data is the majority of cases had unsolved motives
Is it?
>>
>>1538593
Yes, look at the actual study.
>Note: 163 of 304 cases (54%) had unknown or unclear motives, mostly unsolved. The true motive distribution may differ.
This is a fucking footnote when in reality it should be their final conclusion.
>>
>>1538579
>There's also the fact that this seems to ignore the fact "intimate partner violence" can very much include transphobia as a reason
Are you sure it isn't just because L's an G's have an astronomically high rate of domestic abuse?
>>
>>1538611
Another misleading stat; they have a higher tendency to be victims of domestic abuse. For example, that "most lesbians are victims of domestic abuse" statistic that occasionally gets floated around doesn't mention that it lumps in a massive amount of lesbians who were abused by male partners before they came out.
>>
>>1538612
What's the rate of abuse in lesbian relationships specifically, then?
>>
>>1538613
Much lower when you only account for "abuse within a lesbian relationship" instead of "lesbians who have been abused in a relationship".
>>
ESL shill should know, given their tendency to attack the trans prostitutes they hire in fits of self loathing
>>
>>1538614
So what you're saying is, most lesbians suffer from Androphobia due to abuse and it's simply a mental illness?
>>
>>1538614
Looks like it's about 44% which is almost 10% higher than hetero women.
Bisexual woman are at 61% BTW.
I think this includes mental abuse as well.
LGBTQ truly is a mental illness.
>>
>>1538623
No retard. More abusive boyfriends notice their girlfriends aren't really into them and get pissed.
>>
>>1538626
Do you have a source for this?
>>
>>1538628
Do you have a source for your mental illness claim or are you just making shit up to fit your pre-conceived agenda?
>>
>>1538624
Yeah both of those numbers are under the flawed "Have these lesbians ever been in an abusive relationship" context and not the "have you been in an abusive lesbian relationship" context. AKA the exact shit I'm talking about; misrepresented stats being pushed to fill an agenda.

so nothing about "oh it's just Androphobia", just bullshit.

Your study link doesn't work btw.
>>
>>1538634
Works fine. Are you in the US?
>>
>>1538636
now it does. For some reason I think the site was down for a moment because it wasn't loading.

Anyways, once again you have nothing to indicate being gay is a mental illness, only that gay people are more likely to have them, which is because of the stigma they face in day to day life. But you don't care about cause and effect, you only give a shit about quick headlines you can use to smear people you don't like or understand.
>>
>>1538637
>which is because of the stigma they face in day to day life
Uh, no. That's false info. LGBT is a mental illness as it's a deviation from normal human behavior.
Mental illnesses are illnesses that affect behavior, mood and thought.
>>
>>1538639
>Uh, no. That's false info. LGBT is a mental illness as it's a deviation from normal human behavior.
What is "normal" human behavior? Can you identify the chemical influences or brain disorders that would cause LGBT? Surely, if it's so unnatural, we'd be able to find a net cause of it, right? Right?
>>
>>1538641
Are you asking from a gay country?
The gay gene was found decades ago.
It's been suppressed to prevent abortions.
>>
>>1538641
The main cause is sexual abuse or rape. Normal behavior in this context means heterosexual relationships. If being gay were normal it wouldn't have a different word for it.
>>
>>1538645
>The gay gene was found decades ago.
oh this is gonna be a fun.

Source?
>>
>>1538646
>The main cause is sexual abuse or rape.
Then how do gay people who have experienced neither exist?
>Normal behavior in this context means heterosexual relationships.
Why is that considered "normal"?
>If being gay were normal it wouldn't have a different word for it.
If being straight was normal we wouldn't have a different word for it.
>>
>>1538647
To be fair, there's no single "gay gene". However, there are a handful of "gay genes.
Didn't you know?
>>
>>1538651
>Guys look it's just literally hundreds of genes combined that can turn up in any human regardless of heritage
Sure buddy. And I'm sure the results for this are oh so replicable .
>>
>>1538653
So, if it's not genetic, who taught you to be a fag?
>>
>>1538654
Can't teach someone to be gay but you can teach them to be a homophobic piece of shit. Many such cases of that.
>>
Still waiting for the gay gene reveal so every LGBTQ instantly turn Pro-life.
>>
>>1538656
If homophbia is learned, why is beating up fags so normal?
I think it's a response to the gay gene and sort of like a natural response to prevent the spread of disease.
>>
>>1538659
>Guys it's normal to want to beat up people for being different
I really hope you never have kids, but then again you are here so chances are that's already not gonna happen.
>>
>>1538660
esl shill never learned their lesson growing up, pretending they were bullied for being 'different' when they were getting righteous beatdowns because they're a nasty little faggot.
>>
>>1538660
it is though. And I do have kids. I've got 5 children.
>>
>esl shill pretending that a man has low enough standards to impregnate her, let alone 5 times
