https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/6140462-democrats-slam-trump-putin-diesel-deal/

Democratic lawmakers pushed back Friday on President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian oil amid global fuel shortages during U.S. military operations against Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.

The deal will permit Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government to supply 300,000 tons of diesel to the U.S. and the global marketplace.

“I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter,” he wrote in a Friday post on Truth Social.

It comes as the Republican Party faces growing discontent among the American public with rising costs of living under the Trump administration as it fights to retain control of Congress this November.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) accused Trump of making a “deal with the devil” in an attempt to save his “flailing political fortunes” in a Friday social media post.

“This filthy deal will only aid and abet the same Putin who is helping the Iranians to target and try to kill American troops in the Middle East and who illegally and viciously invaded our ally Ukraine,” Schumer wrote on the social platform X.
>>
Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), the senior House Democrat on the Joint Economic Committee, described the move as “infuriating” in a short statement shared on social media.

“But this is what we warned anyone who would listen: Trump isn’t the slightest bit trustworthy when it comes to Russia,” the Virginia lawmaker wrote.

“Giving him expanded tariff powers in hopes he would use them to help Ukraine was a mistake,” he continued. “Now he’s *lifting* sanctions on Russian fossil fuels.”

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), a member of the Senate Judiciary and Armed Services committees, denounced Trump’s decision to lift the diesel sanctions, and urged the president to “rescind this agreement immediately” in a series of scathing posts.

“This poorly concealed attempt to mitigate the havoc caused by Trump’s illegal war in Iran will only benefit the Chinese & Russian economies & lead to the slaughter of more innocents in Ukraine,” he wrote on the social platform X.

Democratic Whip and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dick Durbin (Ill.) accused the president of “considering bankrolling Russia’s slaughter of Ukrainian civilians.”

“Lifting sanctions on Russia will only fuel Putin’s war machine and prolong the conflict in Ukraine,” Durbin wrote on social media.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, joined in on criticizing this deal, claiming Trump is “rewarding Putin with a windfall agreement that won’t even lower prices.”
>>
Pennsylvania Rep. Madeleine Dean (D) cast the move as a “desperate” attempt from President Trump to “escape the consequences of his failed Iran war.”

“Trump is preparing to stab Ukraine in the back and buy diesel from Putin,” she continued. “He’s helping fund Russia’s war machine, while our allies pay the price.”

House Foreign Affairs Committee Vice Ranking Member Rep. Gabe Amo (D-R.I.) also slammed the deal in a social media post.

“After signing a law to ramp up sanctions on Russia, Trump is paying Putin for oil to deal with the high gas prices caused by his choice of war with Iran? That’s not punishing Putin, that’s profit,” he wrote, adding, “Make it make sense.”

Putin's illegal land grab has ended up advancing NATO's drone capabilities a hundred-fold. Ukraine has become a test bed for the western defense industry, but Pootypoot won't stop sending poors, foreigners, and prisoners to the meat grinder.
>>
>>1542563
>ESL shill trying to defend trump's latest betryal of the west.
But given trump has been putin's puppet for at least the last decade, it's not shocking.
BTW, it was trump's war of aggression in the middle east that caused diesel prices to be record high.

ok retard you ESL dipshit learn english or kill yourself
>>
>Be Trump
>Start war with Iran
>Russia provides Iran with funds and missiles
>Iran launches missiles at American bases, kill 18 American troops
>Fuel prices spike because of war, midterms in three weeks, voters are pissed
>What do?
>Give Russia billions of taxpayer dollars for diesel to (not really) offset fuel shortages
>So they can keep supplying Iran with funds and missiles
>To kill American troops and disrupt fuel supplies
>In the war you started with them

The US just put in place sanctions on anyone buying Russian petrochemicals. Literal rules for thee but not for me geopolitics. This is going over like a wet fart in the international community. The apology tour the next Dem president is going to have to go on is going to make Obama's look like a weekend getaway.
>>
>>1542584
I can see it now. A dem president making amends for MAGA being the single shittiest administration we've ever had, while MAGA goes "Look how weak he is, he's making the US look bad!" It's like an advanced form of the usual "repubs break everything, dems try to fix it while repubs blame them for the mess" shit.

Pretty much. I won't miss the USA so much as I'll welcome Southern Canada and Northern Mexico.

I guess I'll miss the Yankees thinking they're being patriotic at sporting events by singing a song about getting their shit pushed in by Canada. That was fun, in an ironic way.

Where was this outrage when Biden traded the mother fucking Merchant of Death for a weed-smoking WNBA player who hates America? A guy who is giving Russia weapons right now to invade our "ally" Ukraine.

Thanks for summarizing their entire conversation as Russian talking points, I don't need to think or make my own judgment now

Why is this a big deal? You can be a great president and still make shady deals with foreign adversaries. Reagan was a great president and he made a deal for with Iran over American hostages in 1980.

Whatever it takes to get elected. This diesel deal is just another campaign contribution. It is not foreign interference.

It seems hypocritical for democrats to cry foul for doing the same thing as them

To be fair, no one expected a presidential candidate to conspire with the Russians and be putin's puppet like trump did.
or for the republicans to go pro-russian because of a putin puppet like trump.
>>
Just a reminder that what trump did was illegal under the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act of 2022.
>>
>>1542719
OK, dumbnuts. That's enough of your shit.
Even dumb ass Google Ai knows you're a fucking retard.

>Key Details of the Act

>• Prohibition: Completely restricts the import of Russian energy products under Chapter 27 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
>• Termination Conditions: The President may only lift the ban after certifying to Congress that Russia has halted hostilities, agreed to withdraw from Ukraine, no longer threatens NATO, and respects Ukraine's sovereignty.

>Recent Developments (2026)

>• The administration issued a temporary OFAC general license permitting Russian diesel imports through April 2027.
>>
>>1542726
>• Termination Conditions: The President may only lift the ban after certifying to Congress that Russia has halted hostilities, agreed to withdraw from Ukraine, no longer threatens NATO, and respects Ukraine's sovereignty.
And none of that has happened, which means Trump's violating the ban. Did you even read this before posting it?
>• The administration issued a temporary OFAC general license permitting Russian diesel imports through April 2027.
So this doesn't violate the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act because the administration said "This doesn't violate the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act."
>>
>>1542729
>• Enforcing Laws: Oversees the execution and enforcement of federal laws passed by Congress, managing executive departments and agencies.
>• Commander-in-Chief: Directs the nation's armed forces and takes action during national security crises.
>• Foreign Policy and Diplomacy: Represents the United States globally, negotiates treaties (which require Senate approval), and meets with foreign leaders.
What you gonna do about it, bitch?
>>
>>1542730
Great. That doesn't change the fact that what trump did was illegal under the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act of 2022, and that you just posted evidence that proves that to be true thinking it would do the opposite, because you are actually that fucking stupid.
>>
>>1542726
So when did trump get certification from congress in his latest treason given he is now funding the weapons that are killing American troops
>>
It's refreshing to see MIGAs admitting that Trump is a felon and a traitor. Sure, their only response is, 'what you gonna do about it?', but it's a start. Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/6140871-republicans-oppose-trump-russian-diesel-deal/
'Several Republicans voiced objections to the Trump administration Russian diesel deal and President Trump’s suggestion that Ukraine needed a new leader.
When asked about the deal, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said on Friday he supported the president’s decision but he doesn’t “support his decision to import it from Putin. Vladimir Putin is a butcher. He’s a butcher of his own people. And he’s a butcher of the good people of Ukraine.”
“He [Putin] will never be our friend. So the president is doing everything he can to get diesel prices down. But you know what’s going to bring diesel prices down? An end to the war in Iran,” he continued.
A reporter pressed former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), who appeared alongside Kennedy while campaigning for Michigan’s open Senate seat, on whether he agreed with the president’s decision.
“No, not in importing it from Russia. I’ve actually called for a temporary export ban just to try to give some relief while farmers are out harvesting,” Rogers stated.
The deal would permit Russia to supply 300,000 tons of diesel to the U.S. and the global marketplace amid growing pressure to address concerns over mounting energy costs due to global fuel shortages during the U.S.’s military operations against Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) unveiled a bipartisan bill on Saturday that he says would block Trump from lifting sanctions, called the Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act. Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) already signed on as a co-sponsor though it is unclear who the Democratic sponsor on the bill is.'

>>1542747
'“[Ukrainian] President Volodymyr Zelensky has the overwhelming support of the United States Congress, he has the overwhelming support of the American people, and he has the overwhelming support of the Ukrainian people,” Fitzpatrick wrote on social media.
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), former Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, stated he was “concerned the lifting of sanctions on Russian oil will only fund the Kremlin’s war machine—emboldening more violence and destruction, as we have seen in recent days.”
He added that Congress already passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act which “gave the president significant authorities and leverage against China and Russia to bring Putin’s war to an end with a negotiated settlement.”
In September, Trump signed the act, calling for the president to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on the top five purchasers of Russian energy or on countries helping the Kremlin evade sanctions.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) similarly expressed on social platform X that Trump “should be using those authorities instead of allowing Russia to export diesel, rake in revenues, and continue its catastrophic war in Ukraine.”
“We can discuss Russia’s return to global energy markets once the war is over, but in the meantime, we need to cut off everything fueling it,” she said.'
>Democrats explode over Trump’s Russia diesel deal
'Explode' yes,:but only with mirth and schadenfreude.

Where they defend trump by explaining how he broke the law. You need, like, a third grade reading comprehension to understand that, so it checks out it went above the head of a retarded shill like you.
I'd ask if you were fucking stupid even expecting to find it like that, but we all know already.
>>1542758
You have that backwards, most find him an insufferable moron privately, but publicly support him out of fear of backlash. Lately it seems public and private support are both dropping though.
>>
With that amount of Republicans being pro-Zelenskyy, that which thinks they 'must' swear fealty to, in being anti-Putin, Trump must swear fail-ty to Russia, make them admit that they've ultimately failed, and leave Ukraine completely, will soon have their opinions proved wrong. Seems they've already chosen a side, and it's not the one Trumpists/Putin-glazers in /news/ like, but they'll ultimately have to like it: so many American voters are preferring cheap diesel at the expense of a Russian being forced to admit that all its opinions have ultimately been more than wrong. And prove they've always been more than wrong by leaving Ukraine, except for an embassy and diplomatic & trade relations. And admit that Ukraine are right in their right to join NATO. Only then can sanctions be lifted and the diesel can flow.
Or a few weeks from now, the schadenfreude must flow, as the Democrat Fremen defeat the orange Baron Harkkonen.
tl;dr: Those Republicans will swear fealty to their own jobs, not Trump's political power before the midterms.
