https://www.cnn.com/2026/10/14/politics/american-businesses-targeted-russia-ukraine-coca-cola-mcdonalds

As President Donald Trump and his administration have ratcheted up pressure on Ukraine to stop striking Russian refineries, citing harm to American consumers, they have remained silent on recent Russian strikes on US businesses in Ukraine.

Russia has escalated its attacks on facilities tied to American corporations – and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine writ large – over the past several months.

According to Andy Hunder, the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Russian missiles and drones have damaged facilities belonging to some of America’s most notable brands, including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, McDonalds and Oreo.

Although Russia has tried to deter successful American business in the past, it’s “nothing we’ve seen like over the last months,” Hunder told CNN.

“This is a direct hit with drones and missiles, and they keep hitting them. It’s sending a message that they’re targeting American business. We’re not seeing any response from the White House,” he said.

“We need this to stop because these are American interests, American money, American investors that are being hit and are being targeted,” he said.

When a Russia drone struck a Coca-Cola factory outside Kyiv in early September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack was a “clear signal” to the US.

“Today, the Russians struck a Coca-Cola plant with a drone. Coca-Cola has become such an enemy to them that they’re burning it down with their Shaheds,” Zelensky said in his nightly video address on September 3, referring to “Iranian-designed drones.”

“This is a clear signal from Russia to America. The Russians cannot possibly be unaware that this is an American enterprise,” Zelensky added.
>>
Later that month, the Russians used “an attack drone” to destroy a warehouse used by McDonald’s, Zelensky said in a post on X. McDonald’s Ukraine confirmed in a statement that “a warehouse operated by one of our logistics partners in the Kyiv region was damaged in a drone attack on 25 September.”

“An attack drone – against ordinary food products,” he wrote. “The Russians are constantly expanding their escalation operation: American and other businesses, data centers, internet providers – for Russia, ordinary life in and of itself is simply a target.”
Mcdonald’s offering a reduced menu

McDonald’s Ukraine said that as a result of the damage, its restaurants are offering a reduced menu.

PepsiCo acknowledged in a statement in late August that a production facility in the Mykolaiv region was damaged, but there were no casualties.

There is not a consensus among the US businesses on the ground about how much they want to talk publicly about being hit “or disclose the fact that they’ve been targeted multiple times,” a former senior State Department official told CNN.

“Some businesses do want us to raise this,” Hunder echoed, but others “are treading very carefully.”

However, several Democratic US lawmakers have publicly called on the White House to do more to protect American businesses in Ukraine and to call out Moscow’s actions. Ukraine has highlighted the attacks as another reason to step up defense support, so that they can sufficiently shield American companies on the ground.

The Chamber of Commerce meets with visiting US lawmakers from both parties when they visit Kyiv, and Hunder told CNN they have asked them to raise the matter with the White House.

President Donald Trump spoke out publicly when asked in August 2025 about a Russian strike on a US electronics factory, saying he told Russian President Vladimir Putin that he was “not happy about it.”
>>
Still, the relative lack of condemnation on the strikes from the Trump administration stands in contrast to the admonishments to the Ukrainian government about striking Russian energy infrastructure. In February, CNN reported the administration had warned Kyiv that its strikes on a Russian Black Sea oil facility late last year had impacted US investments in Kazakhstan. In recent weeks, Trump has blamed Ukraine’s strikes on Russian diesel facilities for rising fuel prices, which have been driven up by the US-Iran war.

Last Friday, he announced a deal to waive sanctions and purchase diesel from Russia, in defiance of US law. The US has also threatened to restrict intel sharing and munitions for Ukraine if Kyiv does not stop those strikes, sources told CNN.

Hunder told CNN he has struggled to understand the administration’s relative silence on the matter, particularly given how much they’ve portrayed themselves as pro-US business.

“Any company, any business, wants to have some sort of protection. You would expect your government to stand up in your corner and fight the fight with you, especially if it’s a foreign military that is attacking the American companies,” he said.

The former senior State Department official noted that “there’s an awful lot of people in ‘official Washington’ who think the only people who can talk about Ukraine are Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and if it’s not one of the two of them, then we need to stay out of it.” As such, it is a challenge to even draw attention to the attacks on US businesses.

“The idea that you would get a rationale back” on why the US was silent about the attacks “is not something that people can expect,” they told CNN.

Hunder said the American Chamber of Commerce sent a message seeking a meeting with Witkoff and Kushner last month to update them on the state of US business in Ukraine, including the latest hits on American business.

“We didn’t get any response on that,” he said.

Trump isn't saying anything because he's Putin's bitch and he's a fucking traitor to the nation. He berates Ukraine for attacking Russia and says fucking nothing when Russia attacks Americans. Got all that. But why is Putin bombing US business in the first place?
>>
I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat
>>
>>1543166
We already know you're one esl shill, also you're back to spamming NY post propaganda with fake headlines.
>>
>>1543165
He isn't saying anything because there isn't much you can do about random corporate subsidiaries getting struck in Ukraine.

We need diesel. Russia has it. It's really that simple.
>>
>>1543177
>We

>>1543176
ESL shill wishes they were Russian, then they could be mistaken for being white
>>
>>1543178
Yes. "We" as in "America".

It's incredible to me that the mods have not yet dealt with you. You just camp here all day ruining every single thread.
>>
>please America, just submit to Russia
nah, death to all russians
please, die quickly
>>
>>1543177
>We
>Russia has it
They don't even have enough for themselves.
BTW, Canada has plenty of Diesel to sell too at a much cheaper price, but trump would rather server his master Putin.
>>
>>1543181
Canada already sells its diesel, it's not being sanctioned you buffoon.

>Russia is importing diesel
That's not a supply issue. That's a distribution issue.

Diesel prices are at record highs, global consumers need relief. Simple as.
>>
>>1543182
Companies need cheap labor, and America can't provide it. Thats why mass immigration is needed to bring in cheap workers to provide low prices.
Simple as.
>>
>>1543183
Yes, and?
>>
>>1543184
So I guess Trumps shitty policies fucked up workers and gas prices.
America needs a blue wave to wash out the trash, end the Iran war, and remove the blockers on Canadian Disel
>>
>>1543182
I wonder why diesel prices are high.
Oh right it's trump's latest war in the middle east.
>>
>>1543185
There are no "blockers" on Canadian diesel. If Dems want to campaign on maintaining high diesel prices, they are free to do so.
>>
>>1543186
Yes. That is exactly why. What's your point?
>>
>>1543187
As they should, the problem is there's a lot of different ways trump will stage his next coup during the midterms.
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-election-midterms-scenarios/

And remember, /news/ correctly predicted trump's coup in 2021.
>>
>>1543189
>Derailing the thread
>>
MIGA wants you to keep voting in Republicans that deliberately raise Diesel prices so they can lower diesel prices by making shitty deals with America's enemies.

They're that stupid!
>>
>>1543191
Dem policy is explicitly based on killing oil and gas.

Republican policy is based on dealing with Iran, which will result in temporary price increases.

Not really the same thing.
>>
1543192
>>They're that stupid!
>>
>>1543190
It all comes back to trump being a traitor to American democracy and siding with the enemies like putin.
>>
>>1543193
>The Democratic Party's central energy policy is to progressively replace fossil fuels with low- or zero-carbon energy, ultimately targeting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

>>1543194
No it doesn't. You lost an argument and now your pre-emptively coping about the midterms.
>>
I still don't get why there's such a big problem with sending Israel money. We send more to Ukraine, and they're the most corrupt country in Europe. Israel has the lowest corruption in the region
>>
>>1543195
Yes it does, trump is now directly funding putin, who is selling arms to Iran.
This means trump is now responsible for any US soldier killed in his latest war of aggression
>>
>>1543198
>War of aggression
You're brown.
>>
>>1543195
So you're angry that Democrats were supporting an energy policy that would have bypassed the problems created by Trump losing the Iran war?

I'll accept your concession
>>
>>1543201
>Killing oil and gas
>Would result in cheap gas
We've literally just had the Biden admin. We know what dem energy policy does to gas prices.
>>
>>1543203
Man, its really inconvenient for your shilling that Trump raised gas prices more than post-covid inflation during Biden's term.

Can Trump do anything better than Biden? You know, besides being a corrupt pedophile?
>>
>>1543204
Prices under trump are still lower than those under Biden.
>>
>>1543199
>NPC speak
The absolute state of /pol/
>>
>>1543205
trumpflation begs to differ
>>1543171
>>
>>1543205
but if Trump is only better than Biden at child raping, why doesn't he release the files showing his dominance at raping children?
Is Trump ashamed of raping children?
>>
>>1543177
>He isn't saying anything because there isn't much you can do about random corporate subsidiaries getting struck in Ukraine.
Bullshit. They're deliberately targeting American businesses. If America can't do anything about Americans getting bombed then America is fucking worthless.
>We need diesel. Russia has it. It's really that simple.
No they fucking don't. That diesel deal Trump's hyping up is like half a day's worth of fuel for the US. And we only need diesel because Trump royally fucked up anyway, don't you forget.
