Looking at buying a Honda? Post here and we'll tell you our elitist asshole opinions!

2016 rdx advance package with 38k miles on it.

Is that reliable?
>>
>>28937090
>278HP V6
Just get it anon, big old V6 Hondas are practically muscle cars in the era of pathetic horsepower and hybrids, and it's reliable too if you take care of it with a timing belt job ever 100k or 10 years, so you should factor at least $1400 of maintenance into the purchase of the RDX because it has been around for a decade despite the low miles, but then yoy would have an RDX worry free for a long time.
>>
given the news >>28936750 is there more of an incentive to buy a honda now? will dealers be discounting the car off more?
>>
Hello /o/, due to rising costs in everything Im deciding to bite the bullet and buy one of my dream cars a Honda Beat before it becomes almost impossible to import, to anyone who has anyone any tips on how to keep it maintained or things I should expect? Also if you guys do have one what year?

>last 3 Subarus have engine problems
>I'm going to buy an Acura, surely that will fix my problems
>6 speed manual, all wheel drive
>Surely the J37 won't burn oil!
>The J37 burns a tremendous amount of oil

I regret purchasing this. I regret importing the wheels for this. I missed not having a turbo car so much, I went out and bought a turbo car again. I wonder how much I can get for my 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT. I paid $10k for it, and the car has like 170,000 miles. The amount of oil it consumes between oil changes is nearing Subaru levels of bad. Like the Oil light will randomly come on 2,000 miles after an oil change. I know I need to top it up / oil change when VTEC won't activate.

It drives fine. Only cons for when I sell it are:
North East car so undercarriage is rusty (just surface rust, nothing structural)
Parking brake is weak. Had it checked out by a dealership, but they didn't really fix it. I always park in 1st.
Head liner is sagging in the rear
Front brake callipers are rusty. I don't even know why, just a cosmetic thing. Very lame
Uhh, burns oil, thanks J37!
Weather stripping for windshield has peeled, and makes annoying sounds flapping in the wind at highway speeds.

The dealer I bought it from told me it didn't burn oil, but they didn't really have the car for long / got a chance to drive it for long to discover it does indeed burn oil. Can't really hold that against those I bought it from. I would like to sell it so the money can go towards paying off new to me turbo car. Uhhh, then the wheels. They are a legit set of BBS RI-A's I bought off crooooooober, which is like Up garage now. They are the 007 / 009? I think models. 5*120 18*8.5 / 18*9.5 and don't remember the offsets off the top of my head. I am running factory sized tires on them, 245/45/18 square setup, cause AWD. Look sweet on the car. I honestly just want to hang the wheels on my wall, that's how much I like looking at them. New car is 5*112 :(
>>
>>28937171
Why is it going to be impossible? I wanna buy one in about a years time
>>
>>28937171

>>
>>28937479
Try replacing the PCV valve and see if the oil consumption decreases, that's unfortunate about the oil consumption and shitboxyness of the car, but it is an old car after all, and it does run reliably to its credit.
>>
Since last thread I replaced my 15k mile old Honda MTF with Redline MTL. It's pretty great so far. Zero crunchiness and zero grinds when shifting, even at redline. Could just be new fluid but don't remember shifts ever feeling this good with the Honda mtf even when the fluid was new.

Pushing 30 and finally getting my license. Don't know lick about cars to be honest, but I've fallen in love with the Honda Accord and I'd love some input.

I'm considering getting a manual 2006 honda accord 2,2 sport (N22A1 diesel engine) with 300,000km on it (186,500 miles).

Turbo was replaced at 235k,
Clutch replaced at 210k,
New front ball joints/ABS sensor/track rod at 295k,
Drive shaft has been serviced apparently.

I'm poor and this car is about as cheap as you get a working car in my cunt ($2000). The exterior looks clean with only a minor bump, no visible rust or scratches, and the interior looks well taken care of as well. Guy has no pics of the underside of the car.

Am i dumb for considering it or do you think it could actually be a good purchase? Talk me out of it /o/
>>
>>28938800
>I'm considering getting a manual 2006 honda accord
Yes, it's the nicest driving car you're gonna find that isn't stupid and expensive.
>>
>>28938803
Thing I'm the most worried about is the mileage. Worried it'll break down two months after purchase and have expenses that cost more than the car itself. Chances of this happening?
>>
>>28938805
It shouldn't break on you if yoy take care of it, but yes if yoy keep the car on the road lont, you will spend more than what the car is worth, that's just the cost of owning a car, the only cars that are truly trouble free are new ones, and those are through the roof right now.

Got new rims for the 2015 accord. What color should I paint the calipers? As for the older 2009 sibling, what color should I paint the steelies?
Luv my accords.

>>28938800
Good choice. Take care of it and you shouldn't have many issues.
>>
>>28938966
>paint the calipers?
You should get some drilled and slotted rotors instead, those would look sweet behind your rims, I'd do it on my CM but it's on steelies with wheel covers onto of the steelies, do they'd never see.

Bros, I want a TSX CL9 but in my country the CU2 comes with the 10-speaker system in the standard version. Am I being pedantic to want a car for its sound system? What do I do?
>>
>>28939218
Sounds system is based if music while driving is something you care about, it's not faggy, that noticeable thump in a premium audio system with 10 speakers can be heard over a speaker system thay only has door speakers and maybe tweeters.
>>
>>28939308
Yeah, I thought getting the older one might be good to start modifying as a hobby or something. Probably I should just get the CU2 and spend way less improving the sound system.
>>
>>28940057
Yes Anon, if you can get a hold of a CU2, it's gonna be a nicer daily, the last thing you wanna do is go down the rabbit hole of car audio, because it's really easy to spend too much money when just buying a car with decent enough audio is good enough.
>>
>>28940061
Just to clarify, I meant I could upgrade the speakers/ amp on the CU2 and it would be cheaper than modifying the CL9 into being a wigger street racing car. I still like the idea of it but if I buy the CU2 I'll just see how the stock audio is for a bit before I do anything drastic.
>>
>>28940078
I think you'll like it Anon, having that full range system with woofers, tweets, and an 8 inch sub is gonna be a nice car to bump music in from the factory.

>>28938999
Good idea, that would look real good. And since you got trips, I am obliged to do it. Is there any real benefit to drilled and slotted rotors other than looks?
>>
>>28942511
It's really a cosmetic thing my CM doesn't even have drilled slotted and I've never had a problem because the ceramic brake pads from auto zone will begin to smoke before the rotor ever got red hot, but Powerstop Z26 brake pads themselves have a slightly higher temp range than per equivalent which makes them ideal for sporty driving in an accord.
>>
>>28942630

>>
>>28943125
I personally wouldn't be scared of the K24 CR-Vs, they're based as shit, I know it became a faggy mom vehicle later on but it was still a CR-V that had the K24A 5 speed auto and later K24W CVT meme drivetrain everyone loved so much.
>>
>>28942630
>ideal for sporty driving
What if I just use this for my job as a wage slave? I don't even use the sport mode on the accord sport. feels bad man.
>>
>>28943153
They're perfect for that too, Anon. Because they're still a ceramic material but infused with carbon fiber bits, it's not like those semi-metallic racecar brakes that track guys use that go SCREEEEECH and don't work well until they get hot while shooting tons of brake dust on everything because it's such a hard compound that it's eating the rotor, Powerstop Z26 brake pads won't do that, they're like a step above the hardness of an OEM brake pad, but not so ridiculous you can't daily drive it, it's the pad I'm getting next set.

I'd go Accord (assuming hybrid and not the lower-middle-class 1.5t) for the gas mileage, the extra room, and the smoovness and immediate torque of the electric motors. Also there's no transmission to go bad, and the original brakes will last forever because of regen braking.

Bros, my clutch pedal "catches" really high, like 3/4 to the top of the stroke. My clutch master cylinder is also leaking a bit. I'm replacing the cmc, but was wondering the correct process to adjust the clutch pedal. I'd like to have the engagement near the floor, but not sure if that would work on our cars, or if it needs to be set to a specific spec to not wear out the clutch.

You don't want an RD1 CRV, they aren't that good on gas and are slow af in the real sense not the /o/ way of saying a 350hp car is too slow to move out of it's way, the CRV is dangerous to get on a highway, if there's wind forget about even going the posted speed with the pedal all the way down.

I'll be honest I've never even taken a peek at that solenoid. Maybe next week. K series really is the best engine ever. I love a D series and those are super reliable too but the K is Honda's magnum opus. J probably right below that. Those also go to the moon and back without much issue.

If you park your TSX overnight and there isn't a small puddle right behind the oil pan where it would drip down severely, the solenoid is probably okay, when it leaks severely, the whole subframe gets wet and the car will lose half a quart of oil every week and a half or so.

Sweet yeah the pan is totally dry so I assume they serviced all that before I got it. The timing cover is a mess but I'm not touching that. Oil loss is less than a quart per 1000mi which is more than good enough for me.

>tfw might be dropping Hut after all these years for Domino's
>>
>>28945011
Lol switchin sides, but a little timing cover or valve cover ooze is nothing on K series, it's so slow it would never register on the stick or blow it up in a reasonable oil change interval, it's that damn VTEC solenoid on the back of the K24 that is so evil when it does go, because you shut the engine off, and the oil pressure it is holding back leaves the motor through the solenoid, and anyone not paying attention is probably gonna blow the engine up in about 2 months at the rate the oil level goes down.
>>
>>28945013
Yeah I got a reminder on my maintenance app to check oil every 1000mi so it stays well lubricated.

Clean Valvoline Restore and Protecc with daily redlines is all it needs to get to 300k. Even the six speed transmission is happy and might be original as well.
