Too big. It's a shame.

>>28948037>renault 5 looks massiveTrue, but the colors really lightens my day, I see one of the green on my commute. Also, that big 5 they put on the hood looks fresh.New Twingo looks like they simply evolved Zoe and made it a Twingo
>>28948218:(
>>28948037based and happy pilledThe glass roof of my twongi isnt working anymore. Is getting a new twongi cheaper than fixing it?
He cute
>>28955239Well maintained and washed they actually really look nice now. Also, each and every person I met who actually TAKES CARE of their Twingo were cool people. Most just used it as cheap shitbox and just sent it to the junkyard
>>28955239>sunroof>painted mirrors>foggies>IntrasThat's a fancy one.
>euroshit/muttmerican cars
>>28955404Probably the Initiale edition. I think they were fully stuffed and even had leather interior.
>>28955468what?
>>28955486Not sure the Initiale came with Intras, but those could've been added later. Picrel are the typical Initiale alloys in my head.
>>28947742Looking to replace my E36 Compact with a Twingo 3 GT. Seems like a fun little shitbox, add a tachometer, recode to ecu to remove traction control, and I should have a fun daily that you can slide for shit and giggles in the wet.
>aftermarket 4AGE rods have the same 122mm center-center distance as D4F rods, can be found for an 18mm wrist pin and go on the same diameter crank pinCan't find the width for the D4F rods anywhere, but if it's 21.85mm this could be very interesting for D4F turbo projects.
>>28955828Was always curious about these little shits, sounds like it would be a pretty interesting cheap track/hillclimb car
>>28947742 C u t e
>>28952030renault begriff
>>28955239Now that's a clean and shiny car. Love it
>>28956043Following up on this, D4F wrist pins are actually 17.5mm, not 18. 4AGE rods would need custom pistons or you'd have to modify the D4F ones to fit the bigger pins, not to mention the widths may not match.R5 GT Turbo rods apparently work in a K4M though.
>>28955828The 2 and 3 are too civilized for my taste. The 3 is a bit too german, sharing the platform with the smart. From the same era that looks quirky as well are the peugeot 208 pre facelift. You can get some with both the 1.6 and 1.5 diesels which are pretty reliable.
>>28947742My favorite part of going to Paris the two times I did was Twingo spotting, they seem fairly rare now but can still be found.

Twingos autistic brother.
>>28960741>Haha, I'm in danger
>>28948037kicking its reliance on gas has made it even happier than was previously thought possible
>>28948037The absolutely ridiculously small slit you're supposed to look out of killed it for me. They went full retard. The old Twingo had an incredibly roomy feel to it. The new one is a cramped claustrophobic cave just like most new cars. It has less space inside than the old Twingo but is way way bigger on the outside.
all i want in life is a tiny little econo shitbox like the twingo but since its illegal to make cars that are cheap and look good anymore ill never own anything like it
>>28961604Effectively the slit is even smaller because you're looking out straight ahead and not 60° up.
>>28961604Oh shit, I didn't realize that. I have to check it out when they appear at the dealer around here. Seem crazy
>>28961627Yeah definitely check it out in person before getting hyped. It looks ridiculous.
>>28961627would be neat if you could report back to the thread if you get the chance and give some feedback.
>>28959218when i was in st malo i only saw a few. very disappointing.
The interior is too small for my taste but I'm definitely looking forward to see them on the road as a breather between all the monochromatic tryhard ANGERY fat suv blobs. Especially since Twingos finally bring some colors back on the roads.
>>28961627Don't forget the passively cooled battery pack
>>28961643most germans are used to drive between 90 and 120mph on the autobahns and keep getting surprised by e-cars being pretty much not fit for those types of journeys. i keep witnessing the long faces when they see the top speed of e-cars when they are interested in buying one.twingo struggling with highway speeds is absolutely inline with the apparent trajectory of forcing the hand of europeans to slower highway speeds especially since germans always fought any attempt at getting their autobahn limited to speeds that are common in other places of the world. so in the end it seems like those limits won't be necessary - modern e-cars simply won't be able to go very fast
>>28961648Conveniently most e-cars also can't get "easily tuned" for higher output like ICE cars. To make an e-car faster there are many really complex systems that have to get completely changed>can't beef up e-motor because the power source is hardcoded to provide a certain amount of power to the motor>can't beef up the power magic box because it's complex and any changes result in other computers in the car stop working (needless to say the warranty would be over too)>even if you somehow succeeded, the battery simply wouldn't be able to deliver the higher power output needed and the battery is the most expensive partYou won't have fun and you will be happy.
The giant ass A-Pillar foot blindspot would annoy the living piss out of me.
>>28961648Whenever I drive on the autobahn I mainly stick behind some truck driving 90 km/h at a distance that another car could safely fit in. With ICE that's still the most efficient speed so I don't think I'd have trouble adapting to EVs.
>>28961655My first reaction to the interior reveal was "that's a really tall dash". It's especially jarring when you compare it to the original.
>>28961445406 was actually a good looking car. As anything from PSA you had to have it with the diesel for it to last.
>>28962731
>>28947742
>>28966470>forgot to fold the rear backrests down
>>28966470you can sleep in it as well, the perfect car
>>28966470>>28967066There are actually rumors about a conspiracy between the French gubbernmint and Renault about the Twingo having been built like this with bed functionality to increase birth rates in France back then. Fact tho is that hundreds of thousands born between the years 1993 and at 2003 were conceived in Twingos. There could be literal Twingobabbies posting on /o/ right now.
>>28967072What I also think is really funny is that the concept of the Twingo 100% worked. It was INCREDIBLY popular among young people. Meanwhile in Germoney they tried to cash in on that craze and Mercedes answered with the A-Class. They aggressively advertised it towards young people but in the end the majority who got them were old people because of the back-friendly ride height (and brand image of course).
>>28967078Oh and of course this happened (and was also really funny and legendary)
>>28948037No petrol manual = no want but it's got the look
>>28967085The R5 is an e-car but car enthusiasts found out by poking around inside that it's actually suspiciously built to also easily house a normal ICE and transmission. Would be interesting to find out if the Twingo is built the same way. Apparently Renault isn't buying the 2035 ICE death so apparently they're keeping their doors open.
>>28967090Both share the same platform, AmpR Small.
>>28959218og gen 1 twingos are rare, nowadays you have better luck finding gen2's and 3's and probably the new EV twingo in paris. If you want gen 1's you gotta look elsewhere
>>28967078>They aggressively advertised it towards young people but in the end the majority who got them were old peoplesame story with scion in the us.
>>28967081>>28967078Then they turned it into this monstrosity and finally killed the line altogether.
>>28955239Violet Empereur ?
>>28955486No, an Initiale would have the "Initiale" badge above the side indicators, like in >>28955821. 16v versions also have a "16v" badge, so we know it's a 60ch version.
>>28967963There's no Kenzo sticker, which could have worn off over time (it's gone on mine too), but Violet Empereur definitely looks more purple even outside of direct sunlight.Picrel not mine but it shows the sticker, color, and phase 4 front lip.
>>28968002>kenzomore like sexo amirite
>>28968002A deep violet like that is such a based color. Sad that it's almost non existent nowadays
>>28961635The thread will be dead by then. I live in northen Europe and they are doing some small modifications for it to be able to handle the winter. It won't show up until early 2027
>>28968812It's a really nice color and it's borderline criminal that it was only available on the Twingo, for the last 3 years of its production, on one spec.

>>28974554It was transportation and to some degree freedom of a whole generation in Europ of the 90s and 00s. Millions made unforgettable memories in those so of course the car has quite the emotional value to many now. It was absolutely everywhere back then. Some may laugh but it definitely was the VW Beetle of the that era.
>>28967492That's the most not-Golf I've ever seen
>>28974598There are cars in that size category with notably larger batteries than the 27 kWh on the new Twingo. Fiat 500e: 42 kWhHyundai Inster: 49 kWhLeapmotor T03: 37kSkoda Citigo/Seat Mii: 37 kWhMini Cooper Electric: 54 kWhThe Twingo is labelled as Urban Range so they might release a comfort range or whatever version later on.
I love that the designer didn't want them to offer boring colors, so even the grey they added to the lineup after a year is a bit more interesting than usual.
>>28947742i knew a guy who knows a guy that put a 2,0 into one of them, sadly i never saw it personally.
>>28972099>>28972506It is going to have a rough time competing with the ID Polo
>>28975279The Polo is a whole segment bigger and costs over 50% more

>>28975215https://cliosport.net/threads/twingo-172.504195/This build thread is one of my favorite things on the internet. Gearbox bolts right to the stock mounts, engine needs a custom mount and the cabin intake "tray" needs some massaging but the 2.0 juuuuust fits between the frame rails with no modifications required.Bet it makes doing a timing belt job a colossal pain in the ass though.
>>28975279ID. 1 is the competition for the Twingo and only out next year. VW had the (e-)Up as a competitor for the previous generation Twingo.ID. Polo is rivalling the Renault 5.
>>28975289They've got a €25k trim slated for July, apprantly with a 37 kWh battery. I could see Renault release a longer range version of the Twingo which would be closer in price.
>>28975318yooo based thanks lad
>>28975375In that thread he used a bunch of Clio RS parts, like uprights, hubs, and brakes, which meant he had to get custom driveshafts made. A cheaper option would've been to either run all the Twingo stuff with Peugeot 307 calipers and Clio RS discs, or if you want the RS uprights just get some 21-spline Clio 1.6 hubs pressed into them and run the Twingo driveshafts.I think the non-VVT 1.6 16V is an even better budget swap candidate though, they're everywhere, the block isn't as tall or long as the 2.0 so the cabin intake "tray" needs less modification, and the lack of VVT should mean the stock ECU can be reused with only minor mods to the wiring harness as it uses basically the same sensors as the 1.2, you'd just need to adjust the fueling and timing tables.
>>28975428im not super into twingos but man this is a cool project, thanks on the insight.speaking of tinboxes im into.there is a dude that has fiat cinquecento with 1,4Tjetbasically engine from abarth500https://youtu.be/QL9Ih7EdkdQI think it would be a sick project trying to cramming fiats 2,0 16v twincam (engine used in lancia delta integrale, alfa romeo 155q4 and fiat coupe 16v turbo along with other turboed fiat group models)I love tinboxes with insane too big of engines that are still in the realm of possibility( a v8 in twingo is just ridiculous)
>>28975465A friend of mine has a Punto, TwinAir, I helped him swap the head so he could run the bigger OEM turbo. Not quite as extreme but a good way to practice for something more involved. You'll love Adey's mk2 Twingo project then, he went from a simple 1.2T with some bolt-ons to fully converting the suspension to RS spec and swapping in a Megane RS 2.0l turbo block, all on the stock ECU:https://cliosport.net/threads/adeys-f4rt-twingo-gt.827356/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMZmrHaPyVMThe thing made about 300hp when all was said and done, in a car that weighs no more than 1.2 tons.
