Are Chinese EVs so cheap because of batteries? From what I understand that's like a majority of the cost for something like a Model Y or R1S and the Chinese have been making batteries for decades and probably have it down to a much cheaper extent
>>28955174Dumping There are adverts from China inwhich Chinese suppliers sell a pair of jeans at 50c which is definite proof that China is doing product-dumping.
>>28955174Capitalism.You buy zillions of cheap junk and they spend that money making things you can't afford not to buy.
>>28955174All Chinese brands are propped up by the government.
they own the lithium, laborers are paid in pennies, and no environmental restrictions but hey, anything it takes to get my products as cheap as possible
They're cheap because they're built with sweatshop / extorted / slave labor and inferior grade base materials.
>>28955174super low labor costsshit metallurgy is expecteddumping is tacitly encouraged by the government (look up the Chinese food delivery wars)they aren't necessarily vertically integrated but they're not far off, so lower supplier margins
>>28955174Chinese manufacturers built thousands of cars en masse like they do all products. Unfortunately for them they did so around COVID full time and have been attempting to burn inventory in six years of tightened markets. On top of this the Trump admin and EU nations have more or less killed their subsidies, a d China is experiencing a credit crunch as they still try to stabilize post COVID and Evergrande crash. This means that their production based economy is now producing the same number of cars at lower profit. In fact for the first part of the Trump second presidency they couldn't even get them out of China. Now they are left holding the bag with a need to sell the stock they have. Unfortunately they can't just limit production as that would cause production issues, so they must bring more models to market causing the net price to further drop. This is what happens in consumerism when you are unable to correctly produce the right number of units and still depend on them selling at a certain cost. To make matters worse for them as the Chinese attempt to recover they will devalue the yuan causing the value to go even lower
>>28955224Well, yeah. That's logical. Government is the origin point for money. The entire point of money is for the government to provision itself. The government is the logical extension of the people. Spending money to produce the infrastructure and to guide the economic activity that the population partakes in is the logical end conclusion here.
>>28955174thats a pretty nice interpretation of the beetle, why does shitvagen not make a 4 door beetle?
>>28955666What, like this?
Is the Chinese government just a front for mine owners? Feels like lithium mine owners run China and all policies are meant to enrich the mines, not anything to do with what customers want. They made so much money selling batteries for phones and laptops and they want more.
>>28955676uhhhh....how about a modern interpretation
>>28955679China is a massive country with unprecedented industrialization. It has limited domestic supplies of hydrocarbons. Because the State is the dominant economic actor in China, it can makes decisions that try to work within national constraints rather than just what is beneficial to existing holders of capital. Their electric car strategy is not appreciably different than the Nixon administration's CAFE standards, France's nuclear build out, or the Brazilian ethanol program begun under their military junta government.
>>28955174A combination of near slave labor and absolutely insane funding from the communist party. If you think 2008 bailouts were bad, the CPP is dumping enough money to sustain their car companies 100%.Don't even have to make money.CPP funds their entire business.I think in the long term, 99% of these ching chong car companies will go under once the CPP pulls funding.
>>28955993No wonder Berkshire sold everything they had in this company
State backed anti competitive garbage. Economic warfare.

>>28955993This is it. It's all a hoax. Now western brands have realized this and are just playing the long game until the chinks crash and burn (figuratively, not only literally). Western China EV sales are also in the shitter with zero resale value.
