There's a bit of a difference in tread depth now. oops. The transfer case probably loves that. On my FWD's I usually only do it when/if I switch from summer to winter tires. I usually just replace the fronts before I bother rotating them.

Depends on the car and what tires you have.Grippy tires that only last 10k might need to be looked at more often, if your drive tires are less grippy that could cause problems.On tires that last 50k miles on an underpowered shit ox? Eh, just look at them now and then. Maybe rotate at 15-20k with an alignment.

I drive a shit box so I rotate my tires when the front ones need changing, then the rears go to the front and the new tires get put on the back.
