Is there actually a good argument against pickup trucks?
>good visibility
>haul things
>crew cab seats as many as crossovers
>just as cheap unless it's off-road trims
>more reliable
The only cons I can think of are gas mileage and Europoors don't like them.
>>
Only trucks made before 2014 are worth a damn, everything past that year is utter trash and the fastest way to ruin someone's life financially.
>>
As far as I can tell the people who hate trucks just hate them for being big. They seem to think that other people having big cars is somehow an affront to them
>>

>the fastest way to ruin someone's life financially.
Small trucks like Tacoma or Frontier can be had for $40k or less, which is comparable to crossovers.

They're kindof a pain in the ass in the city, primarily old towns with tiny narrow streets, narrow parking stalls.
Many just don't fit in some car washes.
Usually too big to fit into some parking garages and home garages.
Everyone else has one now, so sometimes its looking for your truck next to 37 other identical trucks.
Tires are more expensive, they're not as easy compared to a sedan to work under the hood, however are easier to change the oil on even as a shade tree guy.
More of your friends, family, coworkers, random people will ask you to move or tow something large at least once a year, no they have no tow straps, no they don't have a trailer, no they don't know how big the thing is, no they don't have a dolly or furniture pads, its always the same fucking shit.
Oddly enough there are psychopaths that will say "oh you're a [Brand] guy..." as if owning a particular badge means anything. However it is worth noting the most loyal customers are pickup truck buyers. They'll rarely leave the brand, and have like a 90% chance of buying another pickup truck in the future.
No lockable trunk space, this isn't a big deal now that modern trucks have storage shit under/behind the seats, but if you wanted to leave a larger or dirty item in the bed, you have to worry about it being lifted
>just get a tonneau cover
Then you run into the inverse problem of not being able to quickly load shit into the bed, bulky shit, and other nonsense with a cover.
Uhhh maybe that they're not generally "sporty"? Some models (not the raptor R $100k+ trucks) with V8's will get up and go, but the first time you try a curved road at speed you'll probably shit yourself.
bad mileage, but you kinda already addressed that.
>>
>>28955778
>Tires are more expensive
Stupid meme. Yeah if you have to replace some 37's you better lube up beforehand. 16 or 17'' truck tires cost less than the 18''+ low profile tires on a crossover.

>people will ask you to move or tow something large at least once a year
Another stupid meme. Everybody I know already has a truck or a SUV or will just rent something if they need a truck.

It takes 10 seconds to flip or roll up a tonneau cover...
>>
>>28955789
>Another stupid meme
They make picrel for a reason ya know
>>
>>28955713

Handling blows.
>>
>>28955928
I'm sure that would have been a thing back when 90% of the population didn't own a pickup truck or large SUV. The other 10% are probably lazy fucks who would just pay a company to move shit for them.
>>
>>28955713
People who don't own cars and are afraid of driving will project their insecurities onto you and say you have a small dick
>>
>>28955940
Everyone just rented a uhaul van for like $10.
>>
>>28955713
snow collects in the bed
>>
You can't drive them like a sportscar without being sent to the shadow realm.
That is the only argument I need.
Also, trucks have TERRIBLE visibility, what are you on about? Sitting up high doesn't do a damn thing for you. It really doesn't.
>>
>>28955713
If you don't haul anything dirty or extremely tall, an SUV is better than a pickup truck because you can put stuff in there without it being exposed to the elements. I have a Maverick and I'm the only one of my friends with a car so when we go on road trips, we're all in the cabin and all the luggage goes in the bed. I have a bed cover but it still leaks and the stuff will get wet if it rains hard. I use it to transport motorcycles and dirty junk often enough that I'm glad to have the bed instead of an SUV but plenty of people should feel the opposite.

And if you don't regularly haul anything except your own ass, a pickup truck is just a waste of gas and difficult to park in the city for no reason. It's also less fun to drive than a coupe or sedan because it's tall, heavy, and slow.
>>
>>28955713
Dont like em
Dont need all that towing carrying capacity.
Also
>good visibility
Not really. I know its a meme but some of them are fuck huge so good luck seeing anything near ground level.
>>
>>28955713
Handles like shit, heavy, auto only, non linear powerband, shitty wobbly suspension straight from a carriage, center of gravity is way high up, shitty feminine tall seats that don't hold you in place, disgusting structural ridigity, full of useless electronic nannies
I can't see anyone that isn't a woman driving these pieces of shit, a piece of shit tailor-made to clog up traffic
>>
>>28955713
>Europoors don't like them.
That is another pro in my book. Fuck em. >>28955789
>Stupid meme. Yeah if you have to replace some 37's you better lube up beforehand. 16 or 17'' truck tires cost less than the 18''+ low profile tires on a crossover.
Yeah I can get a set of 4 285/75/16 mud tires for less than $700. Not really that bad. The bigger the rims the more expensive the tires for some stupid reason.
>>
Do you haul? Do you need to load things in the bed sometimes if not all the time? If not you're just a larper
>>
>>28955735
>hate them for being big
Define "big"
Base model tesla model 3 outweighs my fullsize 4x4 bronco by about 1,000 pounds.
A VW beetle is about 1,600 pounds.

What are you some weird flimsly little twig boy?
>>
>>28955713
It depends on where you are and what you do.
If you use your truck like it's intended, most people (apart from faggots) don't have a problem.
If you use it like a standard car - as a grocery getter, taking up 2 or more parking spaces, driving in thick urban traffic where you don't even see what's in front of your bumper, tailgating people on the highway, they will take offense.
>>
>>28956147
Look at this sorry excuse for a seat, zero lateral support, bleached white thanks to the acidic residues of women's beauty products , you throw a piece of shit truck on a corner with it and you'll end up on the passenger seat. No one, absolutely no one but a woman would want something so retarded
>>
>>28955749
i make $150k and i wouldn't dream of spending $40k on a vehicle. most people can't afford a $40k vehicle.
>>
>>28956139
You know what big means. If someone said their house was big you're thinking about its physical dimensions not its mass.
>>
>>28955789
>It takes 10 seconds to flip or roll up a tonneau cover...
Oh yeah, thats what drivers of $65,000+ trucks want, a sheet of vinyl over their bed. The hard folding or non folding ones are still a tradeoff compromise.

>Everybody I know already has a truck or a SUV
You should probably be aware there are others you don't know that don't have a truck to move something large.

Just because it doesn't apply to you personally doesn't mean its a meme.
>>
trucks are for men who are proud of working blue collar (once maybe would have made 100k if doing 50 hrs overtime every week!) and marry 28 year old washed up women they met at church or their local Arby's
some people are like this, these people usually feel the need to move pointless trash around to give a purpose to their peasant genes
the small dick thing is overstated, it's more a child's need to feel big
let the goyim deal in the real world

>>
>>28955713
In a vacuum it's meaningless.

Is a truck good for what, for who, in which place on earth. Look at euro gas prices and say oh yeah these guys need more trucks. Use a vehicle for driving in and out of office job and tell me that a compact hatchback won't do it more conveniently and economically. At the same time I'd 100% choose a truck over a sports car to haul concrete.
The closest vehicle classes to a pickup are vans and here the comparison is more apples to apples. Vans are more utilitarian, trucks are more versatile. The reality confirms that. You will not see someone trying to daily a van to an office job, but you won't see a delivery company buy a fleet of trucks either.

>a good argument against pickup trucks?
Do you need its size and safety?
No, "need" that. Do you NEED that? Like, not even your workplace (which would provide your transport systems for you) NEED you to drive a pickup truck? I mean, I guess, do YOU OWN some personal business for large, frequent (nearly daily) drives to haul very large, heavy amounts of good?

Then, no.
A modern pickup truck is
>Too big for most living areas (city, towns, neighborhoods, your fucking garage, even parking lots)
>Too expensive to warrant (who the Hell is gonna pay 40 grand for something that needs refueling every week and won't travel anywhere?)
>It epitomizes "waste"

Traveling to work? Get a car.
Have a big family? Get a van.
Truly need the space? Ford Transit works.
>>
>>28956738
>Traveling to work? Get a car.
Do you really need that? I mean NEED need? No. You do not. Get a motorcycle. Better yet, get a bicycle. In fact, just fuckin walk. Oh you're in a big city? Ride the bus.

You've got a strange position on vehicles for an enthusiast.
>>
>>28956738
I like how the smallest Transit looks absolutely hideous.
"How much of a beater do you want?" YES
>>
>>28956738
Transit Connect has been discontinued.
>>
>>28956798
Which is a little bit odd because the workmen that did buy them for their businesses basically kept them until 200k miles, then they'd go buy a new one. I've read anecdotes of guys either buying a "low mileage" one to keep that same van, or straight up swapping engines to keep it going at 200k miles too. I imagine a Maverick with a camper shell would do 80% of a transit, but when you get exactly what you want its hard to get away from it.
>>
>>28956816
>Which is a little bit odd because the workmen that did buy them for their businesses basically kept them until 200k miles
No they fucking didn't. Our company bought like 20 of them and we were down to 1 or 2 2 years later. One of them went through 3 trannies in that 2 years. You're a fucking retard if you buy a Transit or anything remotely related to it (the Maverick).
>>
>>28956738
>Do you need its size and safety?
>do you NEED
>safety
What the actual fuck.
Youre saying I dont need the safety?
>>
>>28956346
I feel that. I make 200k (no meme), and I have two cars both cost me ~17k cash. 2012 F250 and a 2016 CX-5
>>
I don't give a shit what other people drive, but I wish there was more variety in the market. Every time a new "light" truck comes out, it's a luxury vehicle or god forbid some EV nonsense.
>>
>>28955713

Same as most other cars in this class. The tires matter 95% and the controls/automation matter 5%
