are you happy with how your cars sound system sounds?
>>
Eh, it's fine. If I want to listen to high quality music I bring out my analog headphones
>>
>>28958979
using headphones so you dont bother your neighbhors?

beta pilled.
>>
>>28958983
Superior experience in my opinion to some decked out sound system unless it's a concert or something
>>
>>28958976
I replaced the shitty stock speakers with some inexpensive pioneers and it is adequate. It sounded like doodoo originally
>>
Surprisingly good for the age. I guess tons of sound insulation does wonders.
>>
if you dont have a subwoofer in your trunk your probably a tranny

Mmmm... It had period aftermarket speakers in the back that were crackling, and the previous owner had a modern head unit that looked completely out of place professionally installed, so I ripped it all out. The speakers were a huge bummer as they were some odd size that was hard to find replacements for; the next size up was common, but wouldn't fit in, and the next size down was *also* common, but too small to hide the holes in the panel from the old speakers. I'm going to move them into the doors eventually, but for now I've made do with a set of subtle BLAUPUNKT speakers. I found a refurbished 70's Sharp AR-946 radio with an AUX input added, but there are two problems with this: first is that it's mono, and second is that I can't find any info on what impedance the internal amp is good for - mono doesn't bother me at all, but the impedance thing is kind of a big deal, so I bought an amp to err on the side of caution. That being said, space and time constrains mean that I never actually installed the amp and I just decided to wire the speakers up in series to protect the radio's internal amp. The result of this is that I get pretty bad distortion if I crank the volume way the fuck up, but it's perfectly adequate for regular listening. I do still plan to install that amp when I eventually get around to stripping the whole car apart, but I'm satisfied as things are. It's much better than what was in the car, at least.
>>
sound system is fine, it's the shitty bluetooth fm transceiver that sucks ass
tempted to give one of those cassette adapters a try but hate the idea of having to keep it charged
>>
>>28958976
It sounds good enough. I'm old enough to remember when cars came with a stereo that was a suggestion at best. Modern cars sounds leagues better than even some after market systems back then.
>>
No. Only 1 of 6 of my speakers work and it fades in and out with turns.. Prev owner had an aftermarket head unit in there and probably fucked the wiring.
I'll get to it someday, not a huge concern.
>>
my home theatre is worth more than my car, but my $200 chinese IEMs sound better than both anyway
>>
Not really, but can't be arsed to change it. Focus works fine most of the time but struggles with some stuff. On the Benz it's just plain broken and I can't be arsed to rip the whole car apart to get to the wiring.

>>28959031
I used to run both. Cassette adapters I've had all ran on the aux plug, no charging needed. The sound quality was a LOT worse than fm transmitters though.
>>
>>28958976
no, only one dash speaker works. its getting a full redo with dynamat and sub

Best headphones will always beat best speakers.
Speaking of, vehicles are the worst possible soundstages for good audio quality
>>

Golf Mk7 stock sound system. Honestly, it's not that bad. I just would want a better dampening of the outside and car sounds overall. I hope a few years from now, the technology from noise cancelling headphones is advanced enough to go 3D for the entire passenger cabin of a car.
>>
No, especially not for the price. I installed sound deadening and got a Sony headunit that's 4x100W so I wouldn't have to try stuffing an amp in there (was considering an equivalent amp before I found this HU), but there's only space for 2 4" speakers down by my ankles and 2 6.5" in the rear so I got Morels (chunky bois, I had to modify the door mounts) and put in tweeters and a Kicker hideaway but the sub has to fill in the midbass and the whole system is tinny and weak. I run it at 60-75% volume and can't hear anything with the windows down.
My truck's got a pair of Focal 6.5s and 6x9s with a 45w amp and sounds way better.

>>28959039
My $200 chinese IEMs are great
>>
Outside of active listening, I only care about sound quality to the point that it's not audibly clipping or distorted. I don't need to push 120dB with zero distortion, I just need to be able to hear it over the road noise. I almost never turn my car stereo up over 50%
>>

>vehicles are the worst possible soundstages for good audio quality
Despite that, it's not an excuse for having to suffer some 90s stock sound system ripped papercone bullshit
>>
No. I have a 2011 BMW 530d which had base audio so just 4 speakers and 2 subs. I replaced all the speakers with H&K ones from China and added tweeters but the subs are still shit. I have been considering new subs and perhaps an amp as well.
>>
2/3, yeah.
>>
>>28958976
It sounds okay when the engine's not running, but you can forget about listening to anything on the highway. Needs a shitload of dynamat.
That said, with about 100 bucks spent on speakers and a freebie head unit, it's way better than what was in there.
>>
I feel like the sound system in my base mav is good, but only for the front seats
>>
>>28958976
the best sound system ive ever heard has been a bone stock 2002 tahoe with the factory sub. anything with 6x9s in the back deck is fine, anything that just has 6.5 rounds its lacking and only 2 speakers in the front doors is poverty tier. those slightly smaller oval cones ford likes to use absolutely fucking suck and ive never heard a stock ford sound system that sounded good. i notched every speaker mount in my marquis and f250 to put 6x9s in, those stock speakers are not tolerable at all
>>
>>28958976
mine didn't even have any radio, just happy with the lone dash speaker i put in.
>>
My car only has factory holes for 2 x 4" in the dash. I replaced the shitty factory speakers and added an 8" underseat sub and it's sounds ok. I mostly listen to metal and it's definitely missing some body/punch (I don't speak good audiosperg).

Do I need to find somewhere to surface mount some 6.5"s, or should I try soundproofing first?

>doesn't work
Yes.
>>
>>28959712
most cars that came with 4inch speaker can easily fit 6.5in

getting a better subwoofer would def make your music sound ALOT better tho. contrary to popular belief subs arent just for niggerbeats, they actually make almost all types of music sound way way better
>>
>>28959773
That really depends on how much bigger the magnet is on the larger speaker and how much taller it makes it.
>>
>>28958976
Only 2 out of 4 speakers still work properly, and one of the broken ones only makes weird noises so no.
>>
>>28958976
An FM transmitter into the stock 20 year old Bose system sounds decent in my GMT800. The 6.5'' """"sub""" goes decent low and the system is decently clean but it still has that dull ass Bose sound. I want to put a system into it but can't figure out how to run the mids/highs on the dash without pillar pods.
>>
Yep. The beaner I bought my super duty from upgraded the speakers and they sound decent. I had a ranger that came with a sub box that didn't fit it because it was made to fit a super duty which was a pleasant surprise when I got the super duty after
