Sure they did buddy, because a RWD Supercharged V8 Jag Sedan with classic design, or an AWD Volvo with a 4.4 Yamaha V8 were terrible right? Especially compared to the slop both Jag and Volvo produce now, eh?
>>
Mom had one of those V8 volvos, it's cool in concept, but fuck me if it isn't an absolute nightmare to work on.
Everything is super expensive, hard to reach and fails whenever it feels like it.

I owned an 88 XJS and after suffering with Lucas electronics, I can say that Ford was one of the best things that ever happened to Jag. The Ford era Jags are the most reliable jags ever made.

Volvo makes good cars now too. Albeit overpriced.

>Volvo makes good cars now too.
They're OK, but they kind of lost some of their soul when they got rid of the 5 and 6 cylinder engines. Still pretty quirky though, and still look good

>"Ford ruined Jag and Volvo"
Who says this. Nobody says this.

Americans who don't seem to understand that Euro Ford actually makes good cars

Volvo going all in on the diesel meme was a mistake, and then later the PHEV crap.

Family has a Jaguar X-Type. The version with actual good mechanical rear biased AWD and a Ford platform. It's pretty good and hasn't had any serious mechanical issues which is great for a nearly 25 year old car with almost 200,000 miles. It has had a lot of weird electrical issues and accessory failures but nothing driveline has failed yet. Fuel economy consitenly varies more wildly than any other car I have driven of though. Literally like 14mpg in city driving but over 35 on highway trips.

>Volvo going all in on the diesel meme was a mistake
It wasn't, the Euro III D5 engine is probably the most reliable Volvo engine ever built.
500,000 miles is pretty much considered normal for this engine

You guys ever realized all these European cars are proper shit? They don't last for shit, blow up often, expensive and hard to find parts, like what's the point?
>>
>>28959109
This, should have just bought a Goyota!
>>
>>28959117
these incels must not have anything better to do than to keep lease bait on the road.

>>
>>28959109
Mutts are dumb and never maintain their cars.

Kys wrenchlet kike

>wrenchlet
I'm not american.
>>
>>28959136
What I'm saying is that you are not just a wrenchlet you are a kike too for laying on your back and accepting plastic engine parts like a bitch and then telling the young ones that this is okay.
>>
>>28958993
Ford shat on a bunch of better brands nd turnee them into poo in loo whores. Fuckyou buddy
>>
>>28959131
The Chinese make good stuff now

Maybe If you're used to working with bottom spec hardware.

T. Top spec nigger driving legends (bones, manual, metal engines)

the turbo 5s were more fun
>>
>>28959008
SPA will never hold a candle to P2
>>
>>28959109
There is a middle ground where you pick a normal ass volvo T5 or T6 not a polestar r-design rice machine and you actually take care of it but I understand the appeal of a V8 sedan that looks like it's slow but isn't
>>
>>28958993
ford was the best thing to happen to jag and pretty bad for volvo. turning the 3.0 whiteblock transverse was some retarded horseshit only ford could have come up with
>>
>>28959276
shame people are buying up all the cheap turbo 5s ever since free tuning happened its been hard to get them for reasonable prices
>>
>>28959280
>turning the 3.0 whiteblock transverse was some retarded horseshit only ford could have come up with
That was Volvos idea, not Fords. The P2 S80 came out in 1998, a year before Ford bought them. Not only that, they stuck an underpowered GM 4T65 which could even handle the power

S60/V70R were released under Ford

They fucked up the engine in these by boring it out too far, you can make way more power on the 2.3/2.4l blocks
