>BMW Z4 M40i
>Aston Martin V8 Vantage (2005-2017)
>Volkswagen Jetta GLI
>these are all european cars that only came with a manual in the US and not europe
why were european cars dumbed down for the european market?
>>
>>28960893
Cope, that's practically nothing
>>
>>28960893
Yeah idk about that dude it cuts both ways.
Like for instance with old Mercedes which I'm a fan of, the full fat high output V8 and inline 6 motors were only available in the EU and all the domestic ones were all emissions choked throughout the 70s through to the end of the 80s. Then there is stuff like the US E36 M3 getting diluted in performance compared to the ones sold in Europe.
>>
>>28960893
>BMW Z4 M40i
>Aston Martin V8 Vantage (2005-2017)
Both available in Europe with manual gearboxes

>Volkswagen Jetta GLI
Solid in Europe as the 2.0 TFSI

burgers havent made v12 cars in.... a century?
>>
>>28961014
My father-in-law is a mechanic. He is insanely gifted. We were in a V12 car together years ago and I asked him what it would cost to build it today. I will never forget his answer…

“We can’t, we don’t know how to do it.”
>>
>>28961037
there exist V12 LS engines by conjoining them at the crank. adding cylinders to an engine is trivial. no one does it because it adds weight for no benefit. which is why the fastest european car (keonigsegg) used an american V8 instead of any european engine.
>>
>>28960899
>it cuts both ways
>proceeds to give examples of european cars instead of american cars that were dumbed down in the american market and better in europe (no such thing exist)
>his example is european manufacturers being shit at engineering their way around american emissions because they were used to third world european emissions standards (i.e europe had no emissions standards at the time)
this isn't the same thing at all. europeans offer manual versions of european cars exclusively for the american market in an attempt to appeal to americans because they hold the american market in a higher regard and know europeans will buy euro slop regardless. american brands don't do the same for europe.
>>
>>28961014
Yeah because a V8 is superior in pretty much every way. We do still use V12 semi trucks though.
>>
>>28960897
is OP's 4 ads supposed to be nothing? american car ads blow all european ones out the fucking water.
>>
>>28961056
If American ads are so good, how come everyone thinks American cars are disposable rental fleet fodder while European cars are premium luxury?
>>
>>28961059
but tesla is more desirable in the luxury market than anything european. it became the 2nd or third best selling model in the world.
>>
>>28961063
>in the luxury market
lol, and not at all affected by the massive government incentives
>>
>>28961067
>if i can't compete i'll just say it isn't luxury
cope. euroslop manufacturers are practically owned by the government.
>>
>>28961071
You're trying awfully hard to convince yourself
>>
>>28961074
the numbers speak for themselves. tesla is the more desirable luxury car.
>>
>>28961085
that interior speaks for itself
>>
>>28961112
same plastic european luxury brands use, even with their clip on "wood" grain.
>>
>>28961052
The only thing it is superior in is the time it takes to change the plugs
>>
>>28961059
speak for yourself. european cars are trash. they are in the shop more than they arent.
>>
I like the "un-pimp ze auto" commercials.
>>
>>28961224
The only thing a V12 has going for it is the smoothness and the sound (in some applications). A V8 does everything else better.
>>
>>28961050
Yeah my point wasn't that deep, I was just saying that where you are geographically can result in you having better or worse options than other places. Also to your point, the E36 M3 example is valid. Europe got the full fat version and the US got a 'dumbed down' version at a discount because they didn't think it would sell well in the US with a price premium based on sales of the previous E30 generation. So clearly Europe doesn't always hold the American market in a higher regard.
>>
>>28960850
The answer is simple, and it should be obvious. Discounting the past 5-10 years when inflation became unbearable in the US and everywhere else, the reasoning has to do with the typical automobile buyer.

In the UK, even 20-25 years ago, the average person buying their own car is what you could call "upper middle class" in the USA. This is someone who had a solid professional job, and a significant amount of disposable income. Someone who could own their own house in a low crime neighborhood, eat out at restaurants a couple of times per week, and be able to spend a lot on a car. Even 20 years ago, owning a car and maintaining a driver's license in the UK was very expensive. Even back then, just to get your license in the UK cost over $1000 (in pounds of course). By contrast in the USA the only cost is the cost of the test and license, which was like $10 or $15.

On top of that, the taxes for car ownership are much higher in the UK as well. This meant that only relatively well to do people in the UK could afford a car.

By contrast, back then even minimum wage earning Americans could buy brand new cars. My best friend bought a brand new 2011 Ford Fusion when he was earning $7.25 per hour back in 2011. Not sure how much he put down, but his car payment plus car insurance was maybe $250 per month. The same car probably would've cost someone 500-600 pounds per month in the UK, on top of the expensive licensing fees and tax fees.
>>
>>28961056
>american car ads blow all european ones out the fucking water.
Are you actually stupid? Look at how technical the adverts are the in UK, that actually show the technical details of the cars, that OP posted, as opposed to literal dumbed down slop fed to Americans.

>>
>>28961280
you didn't really understand my point at all. no american manufacturer ever cut the manual version of their own car out of the american market. such an insult only happened in europe.
>>
us advertisements are meant to be annoying as hell because it's the only thing people with money react to, even if it's grinding their teeth and throwing a rock at the tv.
>>
>>28960850

even the most prestigious european manufacturers admit their own european audiences are too stupid to support the manual transmission in their cars and they only exist because of americans.

Europeans aren't car enthusiast.
>>
>>28961540
>I mean ads for american cars,
No wonder adverts have to be dumbed down for US audiences, you're too stupid to know that OP is comparing the same manufacturers for UK and the US, not the difference between UK and US manufacturers
>>
>>28961578
Ford of Europe and Ford of america aren't the same manufacturer. one produces cool shit like the Mustang that your people drool over, the other produces front wheel drive slop that you have to play violins to make people think they're driving a ferrari and only europeans fall for that shit. americans are too cynical for that garbage.
>>
>>28961580
even for VW, Audi etc none of these ads are coming from the same marketing department. every brand has a regional base of operations.

so OP is still retarded.
>>
>>28960850
the uk has a different sort of sense of humor and many more consoomer protection laws against targeting kids or showing unhealthy lifestyles and such. so they can't show their car going muddin' because that's against the warranty and their target market is 50+ anyway so there's no reason to try in favor of appealing to nostalgia and pragmatism. but in the states you are allowed to and your target market are young professionals so you have to cater to young people's sense of humor and adventure.

i think uk advert slots are also generally longer and so they can fit more artsy/technical stuff in them. on uk tv you get two or three several minute long ads between 34(???) minute bbc slop shows, in the us you have more commercial breaks but each one has to cram ten ads in a 30 to 60 second slot that occurs every 14 minutes
>>
>>28961583
>and your target market are young professionals
lol, couldn't be further from the truth
everything is aimed at boomers because they still have all the purchasing power
>>
>>28961590
boomers are up to their eyeballs in debt and are running out of money, but unwilling to use alternative debt. they want the Klarna Audience who are not yet at 0 credit score

and even of the boomers who still have money, they are either trying to recapture youth by insisting they've "still got it" and have the same looney tunes lead poisoned humor that zoomers do, just not po-mo weird in favor of simple brain damage. so the same sort of MILITARY GRADE AIRCRAFT ALUMINUM in nine different fonts and making fun of Current Thing with a thinly veiled RAP IS (C)RAP LOL bit kinda stuff appeals to american boomers anyway
>>
>>28961540
>Tries to post example of a good US commercial

>>
>>28961824
none of the generic shit you posted even comes close to the dodge brothers commercials showing two brothers being competitive as well as nicely showing the history of all the cool cars dodge has made. complete with old folksy music that ramps up as they acquire more powerful cars. that shit was beautiful and you're total nigger cattle for even thinking the shit you posted compares.

kill yourself.

another US car commercial that wipes its ass with anything from europe because europeans don't understand robust design and longevity. they only understand how to be pretentious. all the european cars from the era when these trucks were made have long since turned to dust and wouldn't even be able to appear an a commercial unless they were museum pieces.

These commercials are simple, folksy, hard working men and women and their own personal vehicles.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awMSeynwEgw

another one that BTFO european car commercials. no bullshit. the car just speaks for itself. plays into american cynicism.
>>
>>28960850
The UK basically invented capitalism and advertising as we know it and has/had loads of design agencies considering it's size. Saatchi Saatchi, Designers Republic, Pentagram (you will have seen their shit). Even the iphone you're reading this on right now? Yeah Jony Ives

Americans don't view art in the same way and one person in the thread saying British people who bought cars new are a wealtheir social class than Americans is likely true. When any community-college Kevin can get loans approved for the new camaro, it's going to appeal to a much less developed mind. That is to say American products are mostly made for American people.

Also posting some British adverts I'm sure an American just won't get, revealed as if it's a shibboleth

This folksy twee salt-'a-the-earf shit is why you were the butt of every single joke on Top Gear for forever (a show Americans never rivalled). The Jeep Wrangler advert being the only one that comes close to being clever because it's ironically a complete rejection of the first two videos you posted of people called Wade saying how long they could totally drive their "cheveh fer befer 'avin to replace the car-bur-ator"

Don't worry though I see with the advent of the internet you're bound to discover the rest of the 21st century (or even latter half of 20th) yet, and with it art that isn't painted cowskulls
>>
>>28962069
Note: The Jaguar advert may have actually been done by some overseas marketing dept upon googling it, but even if it was, it goes to show how they just can't resist that posh charm. But it'll be a long time before good ol boy Chris Pratt turns up on our screens to do a cheveh ad

pic related, european luxury brands are most preferred by blacks and browns, because they're the only ones who fall for the pretentious shit. white europeans want tesla.
>it's ironically a complete rejection of the first two videos you posted
it's a rejection of pretentious shit you posted. none of the videos I posted are "manifestos" or "grandiose" statements. in the case of the chevy ads, the cars are speaking for themselves. you're entirely un self aware.
