Better than a davidson, and it's not even close.
Indian just does it better but harley fags hate the word Indian and have daddy issues so they'll never turn a new leaf
>>
>>28962001
Ive had way better experiences with harley than Polaris Indians
>>
I've never heard of "bagger racing" and who the fucking fuck cares what exactly 2 manufacturers of bikes do for quite possibly the least exciting segment of motorcycles.

Oh boy, this design that hasn't changed since 1947 just got an all new [part upgrade] so its uh, just like last years model. That'll be $28,000 please!

Ok

Bikes have been dying for a while and will continue to.
It's just way too dangerous to drive a bike these days.
In the 60/70s there were 1/10 the cars on the road compared to now

Anecdotes aren't real evidence. Cmon dude, they should've taught you this basic shit in middle school.
>>
>>28962228
How many Indians have you owned? Ide like to see um and hear your experience :)
>>
>>28962040
Why? Surely by removing the bags and front fuckhueg fairing it would go faster?
>But then its not bagger racing
Literally why race with all the extra bullshit on the bike? I just dont get it. Racing has always been about adding lightness.

They're selling the illusion to dipshits that they could do that too if they tuned up their bagger. Best I can understand it, anyway. I ride essentially picrel and I don't get it.

Whats that have to do with motorcycles?
>>

I'm counting 9 welds on that exhaust in a place that should only have 2. is there a legitimate reason to have the exhaust change angle by <5 degrees half a dozen times over an 18" length?

Most of those are from outside of the US. Riding a motorcycle in those countries is a lot safer than it is in the US, as well. Lower speed limits. Much smaller average vehicle mass. Less crackheads high while driving. And less elderly driving, too.

First you must Uncle Sam's book so you can go to the middle east and fight a war for Israel while they are preoccupied with bombing kindergartens in Lebanon.
Then, we can consider solving the nigger problem. But first you must die for jews.
>>
>>28962492
>They're selling the illusion
Thats all it is. Baggers get walked by bikes half their price. Racing is dominated by sportbikes. King of the Baggers was Harley's vain attempt at showing people a bagger can race too. Now you have people dumping tens of thousands of dollars to put turbos and Ohlins forks on their baggers in a attempt to show up superbikes.
>>
>>28963271
Ok. I ride too.
>>
>>28963280
Strange how a bike designed to go fast is faster than a bike designed to be a rolling couch.

>Now you have people dumping tens of thousands of dollars to put turbos and Ohlins forks on their baggers in a attempt to show up superbikes.
Out of curiousity, are these "race parts" available for purchase from HD dealerships? If yes then that makes sense, they're trying for that in-house aftermarket shop at insane markup. If not, what are they even doing?

All racing classes have restrictions. MotoGP bikes are not “the absolute fastest bikes we can come up with” because they could have more displacement, use different fuel, etc.
it’s about “adding lightness” you say, but there’s a minimum weight limit in MotoGP too. Why not get rid of that?

Some dealers install aftermarket turbochargers.

>>28963292
I know Honda HRC and Yamaha GYTR sell performance parts like cams, and pistons. Installing them can put your bike on par with the race bikes. For example the YZF-R7 only makes 70rwh from the factory but after giving it the GYTR treatment it makes closer to 100rwh.

HD dealerships actively market bike tuning and they all have dynos in the back. If you have the dealer put on HD branded go-fast parts it doesn't even void your warranty. Harley is actually based enough that the EPA sued them for routinely deleting cats as part of their upgrade program. You can unironically make Harleys legitimately fast if you're silly enough to not just buy a purpose built Japanese literbike.
28962039
>design that hasn't changed since 1947
What gives you the confidence to talk about things you have no actual knowledge or experience with?
>>

>Harley is actually based enough that the EPA sued them
Is it because their 1750CC engines are only making 92hp?
And yes, since the 1940s knucklehead, its been basically the same pushrod Vtwin. Oh wow now they uses CNC to make it instead of bubba and added fuel injection. amazing. What will they think of next, rotary throttle bodies?

the 117 on a dyno makes 94 ponies and 118 pound feet of torque. here it is in the breakout.
https://www.cycleworld.com/bikes/harley-davidson-breakout-117-dyno-test-2023/
by contrast, the six cylinder goldwing makes 90 ponies and 103 pound feet of torque
https://www.cycleworld.com/story/bikes/2020-honda-gold-wing-tour-dct-dyno-test-review/
did you know thats what the goldwing produces at the wheel? will i see you running around saying that the goldwing makes no power with its 1800cc engine?
any of these big companies can make any sort of engine they want. it turns out, for long distance touring application, everyone has settled on "giant engine, 100 horses, 100 torques"
>>
>>28963994
Why argue with the troll? Kid just wants attention
>>
>>28963996
I think most people who are dedicated Harley haters do not know much which is accurate about the company and have formed their view in ignorance
Even if he just wants attention, other people may read this thread and go "gee, maybe i was wrong about Harley, I should learn more" and over time we might have better posts overall.
>>
>>28963994
I was comparing it to Indian's 1200cc making 120hp and 87ftlb.

nearly 30% smaller engine making 20% more horsepower. And yes, I understand HP is the product of torque and rpm.

the ftr came out in 2019
two years later the pan america came out
with a similarly sized 1250cc engine making 128 horses and 78 foot pounds at the wheel
the FTR made, at the wheel, 111 horses, and 80 foot pounds of torque
all numbers from cycle world's dyno tests
https://www.cycleworld.com/how-much-power-does-2019-indian-ftr1200s-make/
https://www.cycleworld.com/story/motorcycle-reviews/open-class-adventure-bikes-comparison-test-2022/
if you want to compare to indian, you can also compare the 117cui m8 (remember our numbers above 95hp and 118ftlb) to the 116cui indian thunderstroke engine. that engine, in the sport chief, puts down 74 horses and 80 pound feet of torque
https://www.cycleworld.com/bikes/indian-sport-chief-dyno-test-2024/
