You live in Communist Eastern Europe back in the 80s. What car are you buying?
>>
pretty depressing options. i'm starting to see why europeans act so bitter about american car culture.
>>
Probably a Trabant, wait 20 years for its delivery only for it to then not get it delivered because the wall fell
>>
Polski Fiat. Oddly I know people that may have made it.

So the pic is from 1988 from Communist Hungary and it shows different options you have. First price is the deposit you need to make. Second is the price you pay on delivery and last one is when you receive the car. Yearly average salary would have been 72K during this time.

Available right away:
Skoda 1203M Van 254K

Less than a year wait time:
Trabant 601 sedan 120K
Trabant 601 Wagon 135K
Volga M24 Sedan 324K
Volga M24 Wagon 342K
Lada Niva SUV 363K

One year wait time:
Polski Fiat Hatch 141K
Wartburg 353 Sedan "Standard trim" 177K
Wartburg 353 Sedan "Special trim" 182.2K
Wartburg 353 Sedan "Special TT trim" 191.5K
Wartburg 353 Wagon "Tourist" 207.3K
Dacia 1310 Sedan "TX" 208K
Dacia 1310 Wagon "Maybe TX?" 231K
Dacia 1310 Sedan "TLX" 233K

Three year wait time
Lada 1300 Wagon 255K

Four year wait time
Skoda 120L Sedan 192K

Five year wait time
Lada 1300 Sedan 235K
Lada 1500 (2107) Sedan 270K

Not available (Note I 1.5 timed the deposit price so you'd get the what the full price would have been)
Moskvitch 2140 Sedan 168K
Skoda 105L Sedan 180K
Lada 1200 Sedan 213K
Zastava 1100 Hatch 255K
Lada Samara 2108 Hatch 262.5K
Maruti Suzuki 800 390K

Trabant unironically would have been the better option here. Less than a year wait time. And it costs less than two yearly salaries. Though the Wartburg would have actually been the best option here because it's the cheapest of the larger sedans. And by the time you would have received it, they had been upgraded to the Wartburg 1.3L's which had a VW Polo engine rather than the ancient two stroker. So aside from the Maruti Suzuki it's the most advanced car you would have received.
>>
Škodavka!
I'll take Skoda 120L
>Four year wait time
By that time and fall of gommunism you better have nice Škoda 136 L Favorit waiting for me
Compared to the lineup, it’s a real car, not a car-like product. And I know what I’m talking about. I’ve personally driven some of them, and in most of them I was being "chauffeured" around.

Motobieda wypierdalać. Skończ PPFa kudłaty. Polski srat. Nie bez powodu za południową granicą srolski mają rodzimy przemysł motoryzacyjny, a po 'polskim fiacie' zostało wspomnienie.

For animals high on the food chain maybe.

>californians, new yorkers and nebraskans are all identical!
>>

Notice what two types of cars have less than a year wait time. Trabant a car that was seen as shit even in Eastern Europe. And expensive cars like the Volga and Lada Niva. Every other car (besides the 1203M van) had at least a years wait time.

This is also Hungary which had better access to stuff compared to other Eastern European countries.

at least they could all get a V8.

Škodas aren't that bad id you don't let them overheat.
Volgas are really nice cars, for the 60s and 70s when they were in their prime.
The Niva is rough and I wouldn't really recommend it unless you live out in the countryside. It's more akin to driving a tractor.

You could get a pretty decant Niva in the West until that Russian guy got all invadey.
I'm sure it is still possible though not easy.

Yeah, the Niva Travel was actually pretty sweet looking for a crossover, except it has the running gear of a regular Niva, so it's actually off-road capable too.
But I was talking about 1980s Nivas which are really utilitarian and above 60kmh they're just plain uncomfortable to drive on top of guzzling down on that tiny fuel tank like mad at those speeds.

The Skoda Rapid is the best looking car from Communist Eastern Europe. Prove me wrong hint you cannot.

Fuck, don't have pics of my Garde, especially from the front.
Anyway, the 4 eyes A series Garde/Rapid looks better than the M with its flat headlights.

The factory in which they were made still exist though. I even worked in it.

Lada niva...always loved it...
