Do I have a better option ?
I need an electric vehicle that can tow, in yurope, for <30k used. So far I've seen this one, XC40 which are fuggly (but have better controls with physical buttons) and ioniq 5 with way more miles on the odometer.

I don't think so.

Are you sure you want to buy a used EV?
>>
>>28962606
The one that I'm eyeing has 17k kilometers (10500 miles) so I think that's brand new almost. The ioniq had 47k, which isn't super high but still

>Amerilard trash
Found your problem

you battery replacement retards are so tiring.
there's ton of other shit that fails and goes bad.
my shitty renault ev trashed motor bearings, I was like how can those bearings fail when there's basically no load on them... well there's some parasitic current flowing through them which at high loads causes sparking which eats into race... more expensive ev's have additional brushes or ceramic bearings to combat that, cheaper ones has nothing but big fuck you.
it's all so tiring. I wish to go back to simpler cars and cheap local grandpa mechanics...

Tldr 300,000 miles and 8% battery degradation. What's an ice engine after 300,000miles? 15%? 20%? Evs yet again mog i(n)ce(l)'s in every way.

Ceramic coatings on bearings are a thing exactly for that reason and those are also used in high end industrial drives.
I've worked on production equipment for those for 2 different producers.
>>
Why would you buy an EV to tow? What?

Cyber Truck

Small trailers (~600 lb) are relatively popular in some yuro countries.
>>
>>28962553
only ev worth buying are teslas and some chink brands. oh wait picrel is chinese, guess it works
>>

I need to tow a horse trailer, up to 3500 pounds. I don't want to buy another ICE.
>>
>>28963772
Yeah, in some of these countries not having a tow rating is a market death sentence for even a compact car.
You can usually tow an unbraked load of at least 500 kg / 1100 lbs with one, which is plenty of moving furniture or something if you don't want to hire a bunch of smelly and possibly immigrant laborers to come do the job.
At least in my country, quite a few car-themed shops will let you rent a decent sized covered trailer for the rest of the day for around 10 eurobucks.

>up to 3500 pounds
Pure electric is no go for that weight rating. You'll have an absolutely minuscule range. IIRC people who tow horse trailers usually buy a 2nd hand AWD diesel with trailer mode.
>>
>>28963884
The car is rated for it and I know someone that tow a horse trailer with this car, the effective range is around 150km for 10-80% charge cycles, that's good enough for me. It's not like I'll be towing the horse more than a few times a year. Also sorry, the car tow up to 3500lbs but my horse + trailer will probably be ~2200lbs
>>
>>28963886
You Euros are so fucking retarded when it comes to towing. No wonder you haven't made it to the moon.
>>
>>28964683
wtf do you mean ?
It's rated for it, people use it to tow horses already, what's the problem ?
Sorry I don't want an F150 gaz guzzler to tow a horse 4 times a year
>>
>>28965008
>Sorry I don't want an F150 gaz guzzler to tow a horse 4 times a year
So just use the wrong tool for the job and risk killing yourself, an animal and potentially others?
>>
>>28962776
>What's an ice engine after 300,000miles?
High quality, well maintained ICE engines can clear half a mil running like they day they were built
>>
>>28962776
My 220k mile heavily abused engine has no blow-by, doesn't burn oil and does better than the factory rated fuel economy and range.
>>
>>28965012
are you retarded ? we have strict laws for towing, we have to pass an extra permit, and we don't have shit roads ? It'll be fine. An XC40 would have been slightly better, granted.
>>
>>28965024
You're really going to defend negative tongue weight and 80 km/h towing speed restristions?
>>
>>28965026
>negative tongue weight
okay that one idk about, is this because it limits to 100kg ? then I'm not sure how it goes for horse trailer, but I'll be towing around 1000kg.
> 80 km/h towing speed restrictions
It's actually 90 but why would I care about that ? the road is already limited to 90, sometimes 110.
I'm just saying that it would cost me more to buy an EV that doesn't need to tow + a ICE shitbox that can tow, and that plenty of ppl tow withtout problem
>>
>>28965026
>>28965034
Btw 90 km/h restriction is also applicable to ICE vehicles.
>>
>>28965034
>>28965036
Coming from somebody who's seen sub 1000kg trailers roll and almost take their 3/4 ton pickup with them I think you people are fucked in the head.
>>
>>28965038
okay I guess you were saying that EU is retarded regarding towing compared to the US, in that case yeah, a bit, I'll admit. But nothing much I can do about it desu.
