What's the problem with subarus? No one would ever get excited to own or drive a subaru but they're no nonsense, no-stress, good enough for any reasonable person, and not too expensive. Unless you absolutely require the smoothest quietest ride ever with razor sharp handling and outrageous power you pretty much can't go wrong. Only reason I didn't get one was that they're so good they're boring, so I got a european hot hatch instead.

Nowadays some models use electronic braking differentials and I am of the understanding autos have a [very] slightly shittier system.Then some models have limited slips. All Subaru (maybe just the manuals?) have a locked center diff (or DCCD). STis have LSD front and rear, some models just have rear. That makes a big difference. I like my VB. Most of the random nits can be dealt with little QoL mods. Mounted my Öhlins shocks today, and the ride quality is much improved.
