Looking for a good paint I can use to repaint rusted parts of my chassis. Is this stuff any good? Some people online seem to say it's a scam

I’ve used it after repairing rust on my floor pan and I like it, hardens like a fucking rock
>>

It's really good. Not the best of that sort of product but really damn good. If you don't go down to bare metal that shit will bubble and peel off/rust your shit out.

I have an old square body dodge that has a frame on it that mogs half the trucks on a dealership lot because of refinishing it with that.

Just don't ever spray it and you'll be fine.

It's only really good on bare metal. Over paint it adheres just like any other paint and you have to clean and roughen any glossy surfaces.

Before painting i high rate Scalex. Dip a brush in it and rub it all over the rusty parts so its nice and frothy and let it sit for 10-20 minutes then wash it off then paint. Best shit ever for rust.

POR15 is amazing. I used it to coat all my subframe components over 18 years ago and they are still holding on strong. It's excellent on brake components, areas on your brake rotor where the pads dont make contact and rust forms, any bracket under the car, exhaust hangers/couplers/bolts/springs. They will never rust if applied correctly.
Things people dont understand:
POR stands for Paint Over Rust
If you are not painting over rust, it aint gonna stick. It wont stick to shiny bare metal, it wont stick to other paints. it wont stick to fresh brake calipers that have a layer of paint and their own rust protection. You have to sand blast them, or wait a year until that shit wears off and then you can use a scrape it off easily with a wire brush.
You have to strip all the paint, and where there isnt any rust, apply their Metal Prep, or sand blast it to a rough surface.

Yes there are other rust encapsulators, yes youtubers have tested a bunch and POR15 doesnt always come out on top. Its your call.
Remember, all paint is 90% prep work.

Pro tip:
Since the paint is thick, regular brushes will leave hairs behind. Expensive brushes are not worth it since you cant clean them.
Use a cheap foam brush. Get a bunch, they swell up.
Wear good quality nitril gloves. If that shit gets on your fingers, it will not come off. Only new skin cell growth will get the paint off.
The stuff is also very finicky, I recommend buying the 6 pack. If you dont use the entire container after opening, the top layer will harden, and it will waste a lot of paint.

Example of painted rotors. I painted the outside lip, and the inside dish. the paint did come off where the wheel mates. That's on me, I painted used rotors that were already rusted in those areas. I did not do a good job prepping, and the clamping forces flaked the paint off.
The rest of it is holding up fine though.

Big corroseal fan here. Used an angle grinder with a wire brush wheel to get rid of any loose surface debris and then painted this on, finished (after pic) with a glossy coat of spray paint. Still looked great after 5 years before I sold the car.
>>
>>28964071
sure, if you clean that rust spot out from loose rust and degrease it.
>>
>>28963352
Aw yeah I remember when I was 15 and cared about POR15
>>
>>28963352
Por15, more like poor15 amirite?

I don't get it.

>If you dont use the entire container after opening, the top layer will harden, and it will waste a lot of paint
Put a piece of plastic bag under the lid, that helps a lot.
>>

>>permanent coating
>effects may be permanent
Well... I should hope so !
>>
>>28963352
I use cosmoline on my rusty vehicles that I don't want to do a full take apart on. It's basically an oil that turns into a hard grease. can't chip off and tolerates touch ups very well.
>>
>>28964229
the air inside the container causes the paint to dry. the less paint left, the more air there is, the more of it dries up.
plastic doesnt help
it doenst like moisture at all. so any air will dry it up.
like i said, its finnicky.

Anyone ever try TSP? I'm about to test it on some parts to convert the rust into a phosphate coating
>>

phosphoric acid is the shit
