>I KNOW WHAT I GOT!!!!!!
Why don’t people sell me things that will never be made again for pennies?
>>28964478are you aware of issue of severely degraded magnesium wheels?
>>28964474>ancient magnesiumYeah that shit's unusable now anyway
>>28964479Yes. But you want it for some reason, enough that you’ll publicly complain about the price. That tells me they’re priced too low.
>>28964474I almost bought a set for $900 back in 2012.that price aint bad considering its europ00r. they just need a repaint
>>28964479okhow much are they worth to you? how much are they worth to someone else?
>>28964474>>28964479>>28964480I mean I wouldn't actually run those on a vehicle, but considering the rarity some boomer would certainly pay someone to paint those and put them up in his garage or something.
>>28964652>how much are they worth to someone else?no one with a clear mind would buy chipped and cracked magnesium wheels. that shit can work as display piece, maybe 50 bucks a piece tops
>>28964674People spend more on old video games or pokemon cards. Someone isn’t obligated to sell you something at what you imagine it’s worth.
>>28964681>t. delusional hoarder
So what is the correct price for those then? You still havent said
>>28964688What? Why does everything have to be personal projection?I’m not selling, hoarding, or even collecting anything.I’m saying you can’t go up to someone and say “that Mickey mantle card, acktually, is just a decorative piece of paper” and expect them to give it to you for 50 cents. That would be very naive.
>>28964474Does anyone make a similar design wheel in modern times?
>>28964695Those almost same exact wheels are still in production. The money that guy wants is hilarious.
That's a good price, you're an idiot.
Just searched for 2 minutes. Less legendary versions are going for $2k+. It seems USD $1,500 is about the lower end for a real vintage rally set. Some of the less vintage OZ regular street wheels sell for more.
>>28964695Rotiform? Fifteen52? OZ Wheels? Enkei
>>28964712This is retardedYou cant use theseThis is the same as if you pay 100k for a rotted broken BMW because it was in a racing game
>>28964764I race on mag wheels every weekend, why can't you use these?
>>28964674You're an actual idiot and I wish you would trip so we could filter you. They literally just need to be repainted and the new OZ mag sets are more expensive than this. Please go to /n/ or /v/ we need less nocars on the board.
>>28964695OZ still makes these albeit in aluminum.
>>28964825(In theory) magnesium becomes brittle oblver time when exposed to heat cycles and the elements, especially when the protective coating has failed and road salts cause galvanic corrosion (highly visible).Weird though how 60 year old VW beetle engine blocks are atill being used without issie....
>>28964864VW cases aren't exposed to a heavy diet of road debris and rain. Corrosion is still a common issue, a huge portion of beetles probably have aftermarket cases, aluminum or mag.
>>28964874>VW cases aren't exposed to a heavy diet of road debris and rain.Lol.What?!?!HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BEETLE?The engine is purposely exposed to undercarriage airflow for cooling.Literally has fins on the bottom of the engine about 8" from the road.
>>28964474Tf car even uses a 4x108 bolt pattern?
ITT: /o/ learns about the wonders of magnesium for the very first time
>>28965151STEELIE CHADS JUST CAN'T STOP WINNING
>>28965143Fords, a lot of fords. Some italians also used it if memory serves.
>>28965176Yeah, Fords. While shopping for 4x100 wheels recently, I found a lot of Fiat and Alfa wheels in 4x98 and conflicting claims about compatibility with 4x100.
>>28965179I mean, it's just 2 millimetres, so you might be able to fit them with some finessing and/or dremel
>>28965183Nope. Get wheels that fit.
>>289651794x98 and 4x100 are interchangeablebuy wobble bolts/nuts if you want, dont really need those thoughalso dont fuck up the wheels with a dremel like >>28965183 suggests>>28965197shut the fuck up retard
>>28964479Retard here, tell me what's the problem with them. Metal fatigue? Or is it an issue of magnesium's funky chemistry
>>28965353They're all dumb. Theres nothing wrong with them except surface oxidation and they need to be refinished
>>28965359>*randomly shatters*
>>28965353Many motorcycles have magnesium rims.VW beetles had magnesium engine blocks. The real issue here isnt that its a magnesium rim- its that its a magnesium rim that was used for rally. There are people who drive the Baja 500/1000 course just to get the wheels left behind. When racers change out a flat due to either tire failure or bent rim they generally leave it because the extra 90 seconds to secure it is 90 more seconds added to their time. Point being is that those are rim failures from just a couple hundred miles (probably from a single impact but still) whereas those rally wheels probably have thousands of HARD miles on them and are full of micro cracks from impacts and poaaibly have become brittle from.heat cycles due to running the brakes red hot.
>>28965169alumimimnimnininimiunium wheels are light and dont turn brittle like maganazazium
They're probably fine, have very little corrosion, the refinisher will check for cracking or substantial corrosion, and it's a good price. A new set of OZ mags is like 3 grand. People run old ass vw and porsche mags all the time. /o/ is actually a nocar nevertrack board if you haven't realized yet.
>>28965649also this is exactly what youre looking for if you're restoring or replicating a car of the era. they have value, poorcels will cry, simple as.
>>28965359>>28964705>>28964478>>28964705BIG MAGNESIUM IN THE THREAD
>>28965151fucking magnesiumhow does it work
>>28965622>alumimimnimnininimiunium wheels are light and dont turn brittle like maganazaziumIt's more-likely than you think.
>>28964474Why would you sell these to some broke fuck? Even breathing the peons oxygen is bad enough.
>>28965767Maybe don't drive like a retard and avoid potholes.
>>28965622What if we made wheels out of diamonds? It is the hardest metal
>>28965169HELL YEAH
