how do crossovers manage to have almost the same mpg as sedans while being considerably bigger and more spacious
??not at allmy kia suv gets 28 mpg highway with a 2.5L 4the old 540 sedan we had would get 24 mpg highway with a 4.4L v8
>>28965784so what your saying is your kia suv got better mpg than your bimmer while being larger?
>>28965781>considerably bigger and more spaciousThey're really not. Most people assume taller = bigger, but the majority of crossovers are just wagon variants of sedans with a slight lift, which gives less of a hit to MPG than your typical sedan vs. truck-based SUV comparison. That Continental is essentially a stretched, lowered Ford Edge, for instance.
>>28965781>while being considerably bigger and more spaciousCrossovers aren't bigger or more spacious. They're just taller. In fact alot of crossovers are pretty fucking cramped. Most crossovers are basically lifted hatches, anyways. Also yeah fuck you Ford for not making the Continental anymore. Or any car that isn't the Mustang.
>>28965793yeah but not by much and with a much smaller engine and the bmw goes a lot fucking faster0-60 in 6 vs 9 seconds>>28965803the kia sportage is actually an extended wheelbase version of the one sold in their home marketit's not huge but it's kinda nice being small so you can maneuver around tight roads and parking lots, I do a LOT of turning around and backing up on narrow mountain roads I dunno how people fit full size truggs on those roadsford just needs to make a new escape with a 4banger turbo standard and an interior that isn't all touch, alas they won't
>>28965828>yeah but not by muchmpg doesn't show just how small the difference is> 28 mpg =~3.6 gal/100 mi > 24 mpg = ~4.2 gal/100 mi
>>28965860I would give anything to transplant the old bmw v8 into the kia, although honestly at high revs the kia is slightly more raw and fun, the bmw is kinda clinical and too precise to be truly fun, but you rarely ring out the engine at 4000-5000 rpm where the torque in a 4banger NA lives
>>28965781Probably the same way a Suburban gets 30mpg. Technology.
hybrid system. Getting a sedan instead of a crossover because of fuel economy is a thing of the past lol. Sedans really need to prove themselves and they are losing. They are just the worst of all worlds.
>>28966476Btw I forgot to mention but I love it when my boyfriend touches my poo hole.
>>28965781Because a smaller engine made today is as powerful as a larger engine made 10+ years ago with better fuel efficiencyAnd basically all car companies stopped making sedansSo any sedan you find today will be an antique and of course its engine will be a dinosaur compared to what you find in a 2027 SUV or crossover or whatever
>>28965781Because they have the same engine. So the only difference in mpgs comes from a few hundred pounds and a little less aero.
