Why do people say "nobody drives in NYC", it's clear to me having lived both here and many other parts of the US (and world) that NYC has a stronger car culture than just about anywhere on earth. If you have to struggle this much for your car you really have to love cars to drive here. Just the variety of vehicles alone is enough to prove this point. Most places it's all pickup trucks and light SUVs. In NYC you see everything and you can buy anything without going far. Sure a lot of the more interesting cars are clapped out and probably not road legal if you inspected them carefully but that's what the bribes are for. And the NYPD is really quite ok to work with. Sometimes you just have to park illegally and it's not a problem as long as you don't literally park in the middle of the Major Degan.Any other NYC /o/tists here?
>>28967632Is it nice to drive around there at night? I've only gone through and around it during the day
>>28967636Weekends in the morning are the most comfy driving because traffic is light enough to not be a total nightmare but not so light that the roads are completely run by juvenile delinquents in BMWs with the 360 degree action cams coming out of their trunk going 110mph through red lights
>>28967715...cyclist? Yeah, you got me. I do enjoy swimming through gridlock traffic at 19mph. As well as rides through the more rural parts of Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland counties. But I also enjoy driving sometimes because it affords me the freedom to venture outside the MTA's limited reach. And also this is /o/ so I didn't come here to talk about my superiority or cause controversy.
Heed Cranky's Advice.
>>28967632It used to be fun to drive cabbie style in NYC. All the 25mph camera zones are brutal.
>>28967632>NYC has a stronger car culture than just about anywhere on earth.Dude all you northern faggots drive brand new lease bait (automatic, plastic engine, McDonald's) since rust destroys everything up there and you're all numales with soft hands
>>28968366I had a manual for my first car, before you were born. These days if you want a manual your options are a 30 year old death trap with 250k miles on it, or a $75k bad life decision. You're entitled to your bad decisions but at the end of the day I think I can live with my 8 speed automatic in exchange for being reasonably safe in a collision and not spending 3 years worth of 401k contributions so I can impress nopassports on the internet who think they're Einstein for being able to work a shift knob because they've never set foot in another country or rented a car there.
>>28968494>dominicancel hands typed this postnta, but bro wtf are you talking about. weird ass post. All I drive is manual and I've traveled the world since a teen. West coast master race.
Lots of people drive in NYC and that's the problem
>>28968503You don't drive in other countries or interact with locals other than the service staff at hotels, I can tell. And no I'm not Dominican, I think the consensus was that my name is Rajesh or something, based on the convo in another thread
NYC car niggas be likehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fQeejiuvLM
>>28967632Because these people never have been to NYC or went once for a week, used the subway, and assume that's how you get around. They are the same people who scream no public transportation in the USA but neglect any bus service in their city. Everyone knows the reason people choose to drive.
>>28968525I mean, it is how you get around, if "around" means traveling to or from midtown, between 6 AM and 10 PM during the week, as well as some weekends (depending on what line you're on and if it's being taken out of service every weekend for the next 2 years because "the subway runs 24/7"). Otherwise you use a car, yeah.
>>28967636fdr and west side highway are nice at night without traffic. even just going around slowly in midtown is pretty. also, jackie robinson parkway has some nice bends, again without traffic
i miss when nyc car culture was driving around their panther platform crown vic or town car with their hoods ajarred in the summer
>>28967632Nobody drives in New York City, there's too much traffic.
>>28968637When that picture was taken, the car (and outfit) were closer to that time period than that time period is to today
driving in NYC is hellevery 4 seconds you are stuck behind some dumbass Indian uber with hazards onno one knows the rules and wouldn't follow them if they knewpotholes everywhere
>>28969495>indian uberThat's a new jersey thing. I use uber about 10x a month and the last time I had an indian uber driver was probably in december. Here they're all african, chinese, or southeast european. Every now and then, a dominican. Also stop trying to make every thread about indians, it's really tiresome.
>>28967632It's alright depending on the area I guess, I had no problems driving around lower Manhattan.
>>28967632>meanwhile, back in reality....
>>28967632>holy shit sweet-ass fucken ride dude>thanks man, hey HIGH FIVE>YEA
>>28970072Havent seen a crown vic cab in a while. Only privately owned panthers. Traffic is mostly black uber camrys, suburbans, and dark blue fiskers now. And the privately owned slop SUVs/CUVs. Brooklyn has a suprising number of kei imports too.
>>28970179I've seen some around Manhattan and been in a few, but it's nothing at all like that pic, the days of the yellow cab wave are long over.
>>28969617>new jersey thingat least imply they're not indian but paki/bengali or similar (sri lankan, nepali)i have never seen a balkan uber/cab driver outside of europe
>>28970072>>28970179Grim. The future sucks.
>>28970072>90% yellow cabs>not 95% black RAV4s with TLC platesGet this AI slop outta here
