>doing some servicing on a cheap peugeot shitter>need to reprogram the computer to reset the servicing>need a specialist adapter costing £120 at least just to plug into the OBD2 connector>anyone who already owns it either runs a garage (not interested in borrowing) or want me to recoup half their costsHoly fuck, how have we not managed to emulate these adapters in a computer yet?
>>28968899The people who could do it are busy doing things like fixing pinball machines and porting Mario 64 to the Saturn.
>>28968899You know that would be software piracy?Zero respect for intellectual property, like some Chinese.
>>28968912i will literally kill a nigga with a hammer for justifying something that can be control c control v'd into existance is worth my hard earned money.
>>28968899which model and year
>>28968943If it's that easy go ahead and do it yourself.
>>28968948Pug 308, 2012, I have to use diagbox to let the computer know that the DPF additive has been refilled.
>>28968980what the fuck
>>28968983In some cars everything needs to be programmed. Even replacing the battery.
>>28968966kill yourself, grubby kike
>>28968988I didn't do it because it looked complicated
>>28968912The software itself is often handed out for free, because the developers know they can sell the hardware at a premium. Look at VCDS, when the Chinese finally cloned HEX-CAN for a reasonable price, ross-tech released HEX-V2 and make HEX-CAN unable to work with newer cars. They also took down archives of the older VCDS so its harder to crack with kolimer
>>28968902extremely homosexual of them
>>28968966fuck it, its gotta start from somewhere. Seen enough photos of the pcbs but I don't know if anyone has tried to document what's going on in the logic boardSeen people pull of reverse engineering a N64 (or I guess an Atari 2600 is more similar) to make this sound possible.
Kill nu cars. Behead nu cars. Roundhouse kick a nu car into the concrete. Slam dunk a nu car into the crusher. Crucify filthy nu cars. Defecate in a nu car engine. Launch nu cars into the sun. Stir fry nu cars in a wok. Toss nu cars into active volcanoes. Urinate into a nu cars gas tank. Judo throw nu cars into a wood chipper. money shift nu cars. Report nu car drivers to the IRS. slice nu cars in half. Trap nu cars in quicksand. Liquefy nu cars in a vat of acid. Eat nu cars. Dissect nu cars. Exterminate nu cars in the gas chamber. Stomp nu car skulls with steel toed boots. Cremate nu cars in the oven. Lobotomize nu cars. Drown nu cars. Vaporize nu cars with a ray gun. flip old nu cars down a mountain. Feed nu cars to alligators. Slice nu cars with a katana.
buy the adapter on amazon and return it after using it. I do this with all specialty tools. the fuck lil jeffy gon do?
>>28968902I knew James was behind this
>>28968899OBD2 was the only helpful thing the government has ever done and the companies were back to proprietary shit less than 20 years later.
>>28968899>why aren't emulating a physical interface device in software Gr8 b8 m8
>>28968899>computerfug
>>28969369>what’s an emulatornot even as if they run unusual voltages through the pins
>>28969018Correct
>>28971152Are you dim?Faggot (>>28968899) said it's 120 English rupees for a physical device to connect a computer to an obd2 port and that such physical devices should be emulated in software. Fine, I'll waive my fingers and it's done - you have a pc to obd2 interface emulated on your computer. Now, how do you connect to the computer to the fucking car without the physical fucking device you dumb fucking retardyou can't plug the obd2 port on the car into the fucking picture on the screen
>>28968899>managed to emulate these adapters in a computer yet?The Chinese make a bunch of hacked dealer software OBD2 readers Still around $80 though.
>>28971160Pretty sure you could snag a microcontroller for less than 120, not so sure about the actual obd2 plug though. I guess you could make your own or just plug wires into the pinsAll you have to do then is send anything the controller sees to the pc, and vice versa with debug channel or somethingThat being said, it's probably only worth it if you can make it work on many brands, and have model-specific patchesThe time cobbling it together isn't worth it either, unless you enjoy that kind of thing. Respect diy'ing it to prove a point though
>>28971167CHRISTYOU'RE STILL NOT EMULATING ANYTHING THERE'S NOTHING TO EMULATE YOU'RE JUST MAKING YOUR OWN PHYSICAL DEVICE
>>28971179? you emulate the original dealers responses, keys, whatever on the pcDump the bios / eeprom of the original tool or pirate it, fire up a vm of whatever microcontroller they use, and you're setof course you have to plug it in somehow tho, and that part can be made cheap is all
You need the software as well. Not just the adapter. This is pretty wild actually because not even Ford, BMW, Mercedes, the usual suspects are this bad. Most if not all Ford and BMW specific diagnostics and reprogramming can be done on the high end obd2 readers ($500 range).
>>28971191He's got the goddamm software he just needs the thing to connect the car to the computer
