Have there ever been any based EVs, or are they all cringe?

it makes sense for small things like bicycles and golf cars, but given how heavy and non-energy-dense lithium batteries are compared to gasoline, it does not make sense for actual cars or trucks to be EVs until 10-20 years where batteries can hold more charge, weigh less, and charge faster.

All EVs are based because they make rube goldberg cultists seethe. I noticed the seething has gotten even more crazy as all their criticisms have proven false, rube goldberg machines are selling at 20 year lows, and their hail mary of voting for an oil loving president has resulted in the worse oil crisis in history.

>rube goldberg cultists
This is the funniest shit to come out of plebbit considering EVs have MORE components and a user base that parades them around to boost their social credit score.

And for the record, I like the concept of EVs but the infrastructure isnt there yet.
The consumer base that would benefit the most from them (urbanites who live in apartments and have less than 30 mile commutes to work) have almost no ability to charge at home.
This will be difficult to remediate in the future because charging stations in every parking spot in an apartment complex will be near i.possible to maintain due to Urban Youth activity.

Theres one of those massive mine dump trucks thats electric and uses regenerative braking. Because the mine is at the top of a mountain and it drives down loaded and then back up empty it actually produces a surplus of electricity.
As far as I know there is only 1 of these trucks in such a situation but it does show promise as technology advances.
>>

by virtue they are cringe. "Greeen" shit is farcical.

And that is such an unusual case. Usually you mine from below and drag it up

you are ignoring the energy costs of the lithium extraction and conversion into a battery
there is no such thing as free energy

>>28969440
absolutely not true in appalachia coal seams are often in the middle or upper part of a mountain
>>
>>28969467
>there is no such thing as free energy
I say that myself all the time so dont misunderstand my post.
EV shows potential but we're not there yet.
Pit mines are the most destructive endeavor man kind has ever undertaken.
Nuclear bombs cause less long-term damage to the environment.

The average new car price topped $50,000 for the first time this year, and used car prices are also extremely high. Also, you're a retard, so everything you're saying is retarded and should be ignored anyway.

EVs are simpler and more reliable
They have hundreds of miles of range so they would work for almost any America's commute
They are ideal for home owners.

It will cost 40k and will also be significantly less beatable then a Toyota

China got like 1000 models of EVs. some of them very baseed

The based ones are pretty much all Chinese. Westerners don't even try to innovate anymore. This is a good example:

>this BYD SUV can adjust its ground clearance on the fly to switch between good road driving and good offroad driving
>can fucking lift a wheel up and drive on 3 wheels if you have a flat tire in an emergency, or just to go over obstacles such as a large pit in the road (there's lots in China)
>optional drone launch package where you can send a drone up from the roof to check traffic or the path ahead

Amazing. Westernslop manufacturers just go "yeah here's the same fucking thing we've been churning out for 50+ years and actually it's way worse." Fuck that, I ain't buying.
>>
>>28969730
Bmws did that in the 90s. Chang can't innovate. Please go back, Pasadena is full.
>>
>>28969641
Rube goldberg cultists have been proven to be wrong about everything EV.
>>
>>28969621
This should be around 10k for how shitty it is. You're gonna end up paying over $30k for a golf cart. I'd be shocked if it can go highway speeds for over 15 minutes.

It was an ok pricepoint for its low performance specs and plastic composition when it was rumored at UNDER 20k. But Trump dropped the EV incentives which means no 7.5k rebate. That "under" 20k is now at least 27.5k. Just not worth it. If you want something small and utilitarian for around town there's a plethora of cheap UTVs. Some areas let you license them. Just wear ear protection especially at highway speed which some of them will do.
>>
>>28969733
Well it's not the 90s and I want a non-boring car that doesn't suck. Nobody said the West wasn't goated in the 90s, it's gay now and that's inarguable.

I like the Mitsubishi Minicab MiEV truck

idk why you're generalizing people who like combustion cars

i haven't been "proven wrong" of my opinion that "EVs aren't fun". my dad has an EV, i drive it when i'm visiting. instant torque isn't fun. high power isn't necessarily fun. the weight isn't fun. silent operation isn't fun. 1 speed automatics aren't fun. fuckhuge tablets aren't fun.

his EV broke down within 3 months of ownership cause it's a POS kia, and had to be worked on for 2 weeks before being returned. granted, it's leased, so he wouldn't have done the work himself even if it were possible, but that's another part of EVs not being fun. i like wrenching on my cars, the only EVs you might be able to wrench on are horrible 20 year old ones, and even then, they're so simple there's nothing to wrench on. modern ICE cars suck, but i can buy a 20 year old, or 30 year old, or 60 year old ICE car that doesn't suck, and that i can wrench on.

muh "EVs are worse/better than ICE cars" argument is ridiculous. are they cheaper? not cheaper than a 30 year old toyota. is electricity cheaper/mile than gas for a 30 year old toyota? yes. is the insurance cheaper though? no. will your bitch wife drive a 30 year old toyota? definitely not. will some dude named "ryan smith" who works some office job drive a 30 year old toyota? probably not. these people should buy EVs. these people may be enthusiastic about EVs. these people will never want to experience working on their old car, or rev matching, or in general revving out their car cause they like the sound. why should i talk about cars with them? we don't value the same things?

anyways phenomenal bait, this was a fun distraction while my code ran.

Model 3 highland performance for the brief window you could get it with the fed $7.5k credit. Great daily handling, weighs as much as a M340i, and were untouchable in the mid 40’s for the performance you were getting. If you were going to be buying a modern automatic performance car, it’s genuinely a decent competitor.

Taycan wagon is also legit. Fucking hate how every mouth breathing executive and consumer demands draggy crossovers when the advantages of an EV are tailor made for wagons.

CATL is now producing solid state batteries that have 3x the capacity of current LFP batteries.
I'd worry more about the grid being overloaded...
solar panels should solve the problem outside of big cities, though.

>>28969440
not really. a lot of mines are located in mountain regions.

>>28969927
>now producing solid state batteries that have 3x the capacity
Ya sure.
And Ft. Knox is full of gold....
>>
>>28969779
Yea, Ki/undai had that HVDC converter issues in a lot of their model years, I'm surprised there's no class action lawsuit regarding it.
Bolts had the metal powder in electrolyte problem, which led to shorts and uncontained fires.
First-gen Porsche/Audi Taycan/e-Trons kill their batteries due to OBC faults.
The only brands on the US market without notable big flaws are BMW (from the larger makers), Polestar and Rivian. Tesla are super-common on the 2nd hand market, but they tend to rank low in reliability due to all sorts of assorted hiccups (and they catch fire more often than other electric brands).
