Is there a worse name for an engine than Mitsubishi's "Mild Hybrid Engine"? It's worse than the EcoBoost.
>>
Explain what's wrong with the powertrain itself? Fuel efficiency plus respectable power is GOATed. I don't really want a pure EV because what if you need to drive across the flyover states, but your average hybrid sucks elephant balls when it comes to performance.

The real issue here is, my 10 year old AWD volvo wagon without any electric boost gets better gas mileage and has better acceleration than that disgusting barge, SUVs were a mistake. The problem isn't the engine here. The problem is the vehicle itself.

>gets better gas mileage
the entire point of mhevs is to have better mileage in a standardised scenario (and get rid of turbo lag). if you have better fuel economy in your old car compared to a new one then you are a biased and bad drivere

Is there a worse industry that forces these faggot concepts and the dumb names that ensue?

This is some low quality cope
>>
>>28970514
if you have drastically different outcome than the standardised test you are subconcious sabotaging your own comparison, propably flooring the rental or permanently being in sports mode.
>>
It’s an industry standard term for the type of system not some marketing gimmick name like “ecoboost.”
>>

>Is there a worse name for an engine than Mitsubishi's "Mild Hybrid Engine"?
That is the type of the engine or more accurately the type of the hybrid system the car uses. It's not the name of the engine and Mitsubishi had probably nothing to do with the term.
>It's worse than the EcoBoost.
EcoBoost is good, but I like Boosterjet better.
>>28970501
>(and get rid of turbo lag)
They don't really do that though do they?I don't know about premium cars with mhev where the battery assists the turbo(s) but in most economy cars all they do is give the car a small but noticeable push before the turbo kicks in and only in relatively low speeds. Like when you start accelerating from 30-40kmph and then it does nothing. Is it smoother than without the mhev? Maybe, depends on the implementation, but it sure as hell doesn't get rid of turbo-lag.
>>
>>28970520
Yeah it must be that. Certainly couldn't be the fact that the newer car weighs twice as much and is twice as tall. None of that shit matters, physics is a woke LGBT democrat hoax.
>>
>>28970521
still a gayass name
>>
>>28970545
Sure, I agree with that.
>>
>>28970530
>They don't really do that though do they?
it depends on the implementation. Some new systems have the gen set after the gearbox, meaning they can (thou manufactureres limit this to still sell larger engines) provide insane instant torque from a standstill, or pull a trailer without raping the clutch. Due to fixed gearing they switch off past ~100mph.
>>28970542
>car weighs twice as much and is twice as tall
>literally twice as mcuh
>entire point of the system is to recover KINETIC energy
a mhev system adds like 150-200 pounds and is positive for weight distribution, you would know this if you looked shit up instead of spreading ancient boomer wisdom
>>
>28970553
>cherry picking random variables and ignoring the full reality of the picture
>completely misunderstanding the concept of regenerative BRAKING
Hybrids can't generate energy out of nothing. How's a 150 pound add-on going to recoup muh kinetic energy rolling down the highway at 60mph? Or is it a magical perpetual motion device that somehow generates more energy from dragging on the wheels for no reason because retard logic? Go take your LLM slop engagement bait back to linkedin where it belongs.
>>
>>28970576
>more energy from dragging on the wheels
do you drive with 12psi or wtf
>>
>>28970587
Your car probably has one of those MPG-o-meters somewhere in that mess of instrumentation. Look for it, and pay attention next time you're driving. Pay particularly close attention to how it looks when braking vs cruising down the highway. Look extra, extra close. Then crash into a brick wall and die lmao.
>>
>>28970606
holy retard
>>
"Mild Hybrid" is just a way to greenwash/upsell functionalities which should be standard in ICE cars, namely 48-volt systems, electric acceleration assist and full electric AC.
>>
>>28970489
i have driven a c200 with a 1.5L mild hybrid engine and milage was horrible. i guess hybrid is there to circumvent some commiefornia issues
>>
>>28970617
Keep coping. So far we've seen
>actually if your mileage doesn't suck you suck at driving!
>actually the test was rigged! and it was a rental!
>actually being absurdly heavy is a good thing!
I look forward to your next bizarre cope response

>>28970660
It's probably more like "we have to stay on top of this electric shit or we're toast", Mitsubishi has been lagging on this and they need to do something even if it's not "best in class" or even average
>>
>>28970267
>new manual hybrids inbound
