What do you all think about the Slate?
>small electric “truck” (sedan shaped like a truck)
>made to be super customizable and DIY-friendly
>also <=25k brand new
I was interested until I realized it couldn’t tow anything/wasn’t really a truck.

If they make a true station wagon with 4 pillars and I'll import one to yurop.
>>
>>28971473
Reminds me of a Proton Jumbuck but square.
>>

>also <=25k brand new
Why do you need this car for less than 35k new?
I can't believe you expect to see this for less than 45k
Surely for its performance and mass customizability you should be prepared to spend 65k
You'll be hearing from my lawyer about the 85k you owe me
>>
>>28971473
Getting paid to drive barebones vehicles fucking sucks. Why you would pay to have that experience is a little beyond me but whatever.

I cant wait until inner city retards buy these in masse and then default on them.

This will be the next major takeover car.

if it was a gasser with a 4x4 option, i'd be all over it. design looks cool, and that's a great price for a pickup i'd be using for work, house chores, and some offroad/camping stuff. not remotely interested in an EV though, and 2wd is a dealbreaker

Goofy AF.
>needlessly high belt line
>needlessly chopped cab height
>weird AF bare screws at each corner of body panel
>>
>>28972342
>EV depreciation multiplied by massive buyers remorse
Yes please, I'd buy a $10k one for an odd jobs car
>>
>>28972353
It needs a high belt line to people don't get HEAD CRUSH MAXIMUM'D by a crossover. You can't make the beltline high and have the cab match it or your shits going to be 7' tall which would be a no-go with a wheelbase like that.

That's great, Macgruber.
When is your next (failed) mission?

Come on bro...
The Subaru Justy day pricing has been over for 40 years.

>EV
That means it will depreciate like a brick dropped out of a window. Go check out the 2-year residual value on your average EV
>most people who buy them will realize they hate it and sell, to a very small pool of interested buyers
That means the depreciation is going to be far worse than a "normal" EV
>$25k
$10k is not far to fall for a toy EV that nobody's going to like in real life

Same. If it's factually a good truck for $25k, they might get some business and fleet sales, then some jerkoffs who thought this what the ideal vehicle only to discover it's horrible to daily.

Yeah I'll take one for $10k to drive across town, complete a job, drive to home Depot, get some mulch, then scoot home to charge overnight. I don't leave the house much and rarely leave for work, so it'd work as a commuter and who cares vehicle.

It's why I don't see it selling in meaningful numbers. For a few thousand more you get a great used truck or a new Maverick

Why would a fleet go for a Slate over a basic half ton? I don't really see the demand for something like this when nobody buys the lowest trim of any truck currently available.
>>
>>28971517
this basically. if they come in anywhere near 25k that they claim, thats several thousand less than the average price of a basic new car right now, they win.
>>
>>28972435

good luck finding inventory on hand in this config that anyplace would part with for this price.

also, not giving the electric devil its due.
>>
>>28971473
>electric
nope
>>
>>28972435
Basically free fuel, no maintenance other than tires and brakes, it's much smaller than a half ton so it's easier in tighter urban areas, and maybe some subtle virtue signaling?

Love the idea. Too much junk in new vehicles that i don't need.
However, it is not enough truck for my needs.
4wd, 6.5ft bed, 2000lbs payload, is the least i could live with. (love my truck campers)
Its like a 5.?ft bed with only 1400? payload..

>What do you all think about the Slate?

Its not cheap enough to merit its worth as a city truck, kei truck replacement and its not capable enough to do a real truck's job.

If they made cheap little kei truck and kei van style work vehicles that are made for shuttling crap around a city then there would be a commercial market for them.
