my a/c line ruptured while driving, do I have to change my receiver-drier too? that would suck, eurofag here, new receiver drier can only be bought from usa, I've searched on rockauto and part is around 20 usd, but with shipping it comes to around 80 usd + I have to wait for it to arrive
It's good practice to replace it but it's not strictly necessary. It's in line to reduce water and contaminants getting into the condensor/evaporator/compressor and fucking things up. How blocked and full of shit the drier is will determine results. What car do you run? Often it's cheaper to buy a new condenser with the drier off of ebay.
>>28973422R12 system you gotta get all the moisture out because it reacts with the refrigerant to form acid. Nice to be able to fill by watching pressures thoughR134 just button it back up and run it. Done it lots of times. Gotta fill by weight. Do it by pressure and you'll always come up short and have it freeze up the evaporator all the time.Newer than that? Dunno first hand never worked with any.
>>28973450The only thing newer is r1234yf and you take that somewhere with the special machine
>>28973450>R12>R134replace both with R290 and send it
>>28973422Are you even allowed to work on your own a/c there?
>>28973571Probably not.So, I've replaced the hose, went to a/c shop, they refilled it, and it seems to be working great. Fucker takes 1kg of refrigerant.Car is Probe mk2 2.5 kl-de.
>>28973530Pure 290 is expensive. Can you use straight grill propane or will the smell additives fuck up the system?
>>28973450>Gotta fill by weight.can't do that in my shitass van with a 40 year old aftermarket rear evap! there's no weight specification!
