>wow these headlights are great, I can see everything!

Does the modern negroided citizen know their low beams are not supposed to illuminate the tree tops?
>>
too many people turn their automatic headlights off and think their brights switch is the headlight switch
>>
This shit could be solved by the DoT allowing adaptive headlights to be sold in the US.

They're within the legal limits.

I have more issues with people driving at night with only DRL on because they don't know their actual headlights are not on but the DRL is bright enough (so they claim) to see the road while driving at night. Fucking bullshit regulation adding mandatory automatic DRL on regardless of the headlight being enabled or not.

But yes, people with shitty aftermarket headlight bulbs blinding everyone is annoying as fuck too especially if they are installed on a lifted vehicle.

>Got led projector low beams
>Its actually fucking shit because now the road is lit up but I cant see anything around it because of the extreme difference in brightness.

Im sure there's no lasting damage

We can just use the eye raping bright LEDs and mandate nighttime polarized goggles for driving.
It's stuff more computing in the car or use some $10 aliexpress eye protection, I know where my vote goes.

Modern factory LED's have a super sharp cutoff and don't do that. You get that when you stick LED's in clouded over halogen housings and don't aim them down slightly.

>>28975893
I really don't know why tail lights that stay on with the DRL's were never mandated.
>>
>>28975781
I could aim my beams but I'm lazy, I hope you like my 100w led projector, not my problem lol
>>
>>28975829
Adaptive headlights don't work in the real world conditions.
>>
Lol.. fuck your retinas.

unironically one town in the US addressed this by ditching the mega bright LED street lights for LEDs that not only emitted the same light temperature/colour as the old sodium vapour lamps they replaced, but also had the same brightness as them too. Instead of say a 100W lamp being replaced with a 100W LED, in its place was a 20W LED. Not only did the town save an assload of money from the energy savings, but the local cops said they could actually see shit at night now because there wasn't such a huge contrast between lit and non-lit areas anymore.

My town seems like they would be up for this. IIRC, first town with Tesla police cars.

Our eyes have a better dynamic range and contrast sensitivity in lower light conditions as well, meaning you can perceive a greater difference between darker and lighter areas.

It also takes your eyes far longer to adjust from light to dark conditions than dark to light, the former taking up to 30 minutes with the latter occurring in 2-6 minutes.

Adaptive headlights in practice work as well as when you forget your highbeams and you turn them off the second after you already blinded somebody

Toyota thinks so
