Looks aside, what are the downsides?
biggest downside for me is it'd be a pain in the ass to fit a car seat in the back and also i'd get gapped by every other M car on the road including lightly modded M lites.

The 2 coupe was originally going to become front drive and go on the Mini platform like the 2 GC and X1 but BMW Mexico argued they could do it cheaper by using extra capacity at the San Luis Potosi plant as plans to build the 5 series there were cancelled due to people buying less sedans. The mules were developed and engineered in Mexico and everything. It specifically did not get the pig disgusting sniffer nose because it tested badly in Mexico. The design and engineering leads were Mexicans. Doesnt bmw grossly understate its 0-60 times. You could probably push this one to sub 3 seconds 0-60 with software tuning only
