I've recently imported a car from japan and I'm pretty sure whoever owned the car last was an actual retard.>AC vents were falling down so he just filled the housing with black rtv>He wanted an LED interior light, so he took the glass out of the light bulbs and soldered tiny lengths of LED strips into the bases.>Seat belt screwed in with a bolt that has a hoop on the end instead of a hex head, only hand tightened.>3 entirely different sets of wheel nuts on the wheels, including lock nuts, front wheels had 2 lock nuts each as well.>Yokohama semi slicks on the back, generic chinese tyres on the front>Vacuum line leading from intake manifold to the cabin, absolutely nothing on the end of it, just leaking boost pressureWhat's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done?
>>28980848>What's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done?Curbed the absolute living fuck out of all the wheels
>>28980848a while back an anon bought an RV and posted the horror wiring job to the ccg thread. the methhead owner used fucking ethernet cable to wire up whatever electrical stuff he added to the vehicle, it was pretty bonkers.on a different note, i remember another anon who was looking at a truck previously owned by a pilot or plane mechanic, and it had an autistic amount of service logging in a little notebook/notepad. cant remember if he bought it or not though.
>decide to install 2 10" subwoofers on my explorer>Find an empty cavity in the cargo area where the crummy factory subwoofer was>Mount the amp to a small rectangle of plywood because that seemed smart>Wood screw plywood to some framing member in the cavity >Just use 2 screws, figure I'll get some brackets and help it out later, just 2 screws at the top it's just hanging down like a kitchen towel>Forget about it, it's just flopping the fuck around in that cavity >Subs stop working, I bring it to a professional to diagnoseThe wires flipped around so much they worked their way out of the amp. The dude also pointed out the PCB should've cracked shorting the amp.Sometimes you get retarded, sometimes your the retard.
>>28980848I was genuinely impressed by this. There was arguably more effort involved in getting this bit of wood in place than there would have been in just replacing the regulator. VERY confident this was used as a drug mule car, too, as the rear windows had a nearly opaque tint, and a section of the carpet in the rear was conveniently cut in such a way that you could stash stuff under there.
The previous owner of my car put a massive subwoofer in the car but did nothing to resolve multiple oil leaks.
Pulled boot interior from my alfa romeo. Some previous owner>Removed speakers from their stock spot>cut holes in shelf>installed new speakersI want to cut his fingers off
>>28980848Drilled a hole in the oil fill-cap to try and route a turbo oil return line through it.
>>28980959Yea, its the kind of thing my zoomoid brain wouldnt even think of or try.
>>28980964Nothing some AT205 can't fix.
>>28981207Oof, reminds me of my MGB - A previous owner physically cut one of the strengthening beams of the body shell and bent it out of the way to fit the speakers. Could've just put them in the door like every one else, but nooooooo. Fucking nonce.
>>28980959i love finding leftover drugs in used cars.
>>28980896>ethernet cable
>>28980848>What's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done? This stupid fucking thing disconnects the rear brakes. I guess this is for doing a burnout without actually moving?
>>28981856That's called a line lock
>>28981864>line lockMakes sense although that's weird to have in a 230 HP car.
>>28981884How come? Don't have to drag your brakes when turning rubber to smoke.I had line locks in my 70hp toyota shitbox
>>28981894That's fair. I was immediately thinking someone was drag racing this car before and going so far as to have this installed when having just 230 HP was overkill but I guess my perspective might be skewed thanks to all the retard high HP numbers jewtubers keep shitting out for engagement and views.
oh actually the celica i bought a previous owner had filled the door drain areas with expanding foam so it'd flood the interior
>>28980848>What's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done?It was my recent Lexus sedan that I bought. It was probably owned by some drug dealer or pimp or something.>all blacked-out paint job>rare black leather and mahogany wood interior dealer option>open trunk to find stripper high-legged stiletto boots>and lingerie clothing>glove box had lipstick, makeup and Frank Sinatra cassette music tapes>check out paperwork>police impound from Los Angeles California>sold at auction previouslybest believe I sanitized the fuck out of the interior when I started modifying it. True story
Classic Mini>Previous owner replaced the 48hp 998 (higher compression variant) with the lowest output 1275 from a Clubman that made ~55hp iirc>Gave me the 998 in bits, as far as I can tell there was nothing wrong with it
>>28981966>ain't no replacement for displacement boi, mmm hmmm~But for real, that's not the worst thing to do. Literally plug and play swap, and potentially cheap as fuck, too. Also means you have more *potential* power on tap should you choose to chase it, and likely makes it's power lower in the rpm range, making it far more tractable in all driving conditions.
>>28980848>standard japanese fuckeryYeah thats pretty par. Also why did you IMPORT that car amongst all the japanese cars
>>28982025Why the fuck wouldnt you
>>28980848>Vacuum line leading from intake manifold to the cabin, absolutely nothing on the end of it, just leaking boost pressure probably for a vacuum gauge, I have one in both of my old v8 turds just for the fun of it
>>28982251You can get that car in american and the UK
>>28982476First of all I don't live in either of those countries.Second of all it's a late revision car with a 3rd gen 3sgte which wasn't sold outside japan so no you can't.
>>28982594Thats not a Rev 4 or Rev 5 SW20
>>28982610American rev 3 cars had a gen 2 3sgte.
Nothing major but I did notice things:>for some reason the passenger side visor was only half screwed in>the entire sill on the passenger side was unpainted. Luckily no rust set in, but I sprayed it myself to correct it (and somehow its the only paintjob I've ever done successfully).>near imperceptible dent on passenger side too. Paint colour is dark enough for it to be hard to spotOh and the front wing on passenger side was replaced at some point and resprayed to colour-match although you can see tiny evidence of a poor job.Basically whoever owned it previously must have spun out and crashed on the passenger side, but thanks to subsequent changes it looks normal now.
>sitting in traffic on a 90F day with the AC running>PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH>white vapor pouring out of the sides of the hood>mouth fills with a bitter taste>shut off the AC and pull over>furiously googling>"A mechanical pressure release valve should be present in the system as a last resort, venting refrigerant into the atmosphere to relieve overpressure"and that's how I found out that the previous owner decided to weld the AC compressor clutch instead of replacing anything. FWD Dodge Stealth previous-owners probably die like hamsters all the time
>>28980848Previous owner of my mkV Rabbit blew the differential and couldn't fork over the cash to get a proper rabbit trans so they took some mkIV diesel trans and tried to shove it on, only to crack the timing cover which on the 2.5s is on the transmission side (audi bs). The dumb thing is that instead of properly getting a used timing cover and clearancing the top of the bellhousing to not repeat their mistake, they just JB welded that cover and put the old mk5 bellhousing on the mkIV trans (which had an absolutely ruined diff seal surface that pissed gear oil everywhere) with some JB weld on the diff seal. Even dumber was the retard that bought that nightmare on wheels and put in 3 times what the car is worth only for it to still be a leaky high mileage German shitbox :'(
>>28982781I'm conviced car "people" are the most retarded motherfuckers right behind football fans, whichever flavour of football you prefer.
>>28982650Okay that doesnt change your "late revision part."Thats still not a Rev 4 or 5 SW20Why would you buy an entire car just for the engine
>>28983172Are you genuinely retarded? The turbo was only sold in japan and the US. I'm australian.
>>28983360You said late revision. Gen 3 SW20 is not late revision. If the turbo wasnt sold in Australia (and you are white) glad you got the car you wanted
>>28983372It is in the sense that parts compatibilities will always be 99 to 93 or 94 to 99.
>>2898344789*
>>28983447Doesnt matterSW20 Rev 4 and 5 are later than 3Hell it isnt even the final Rev of the 3SGTEYou can say its a better version of the 3SGTE than the Rev 1 or 2Thats acceptable
>>28980848That's normal jap nigger-rigging. Their "1000 times folded attention to detail master craftsman" lore is a weeb delusion.
>>28983562Its the final 3sgte that was in the mr2
>>28980920>your the retardpotery
>>28980848I bought a previously leased car and the original user took it to the first year service and then skipped every other service since. There's a note from the leasing company in the glove box that says every service is free and can be billed directly to them.
Bought my Honda Pilot used with 900 miles. Dealer had to sell me at used price despite being basically new. Looked 10/10. Took the third row seats out and found two crack pipes.
>>28983974free crack pipes*
>>28983707You keep saying thisThat engine was also in other things. That isnt a late rev MR2Dont go around telling people that it was a late rev mr2
