I have a Volkswagen T4 Transporter van and I'm redoing the entire interior.Every panel is attached to the body of the car with these plastic screws that simply break when I try to remove them. How do I get them out?My friend simply took a hammer and a chisel and broke them off.But I don't want to do that. The problem is that half of the screw will fall off inside the body.I'm a perfectionist and you have no idea how much I'd screech if I'd have to live knowing there are 30-40 plastic screws rattling around inside the body.
>>28981989>How do I get them out?choose your clip fastener tool, my slow OP
>>28981990Damn breh do people really own a boxful of tools just for removing those plastic fucks
>>28981989replace them with the kind that push in and pull out. The screw type are dogshit.
>>28981989>simply break when I try to remove them.commit to the possibility of breaking them, and get ahead of the problem by preemptively buying new ones.
>>28982512Some people do but they don't work. Use a razor blade/box cutter to get between the screw and the fastener. This puts out word pressure on the screw and sometimes pulls the screw out on its own if not turning the screw from here while the blade is there should pull it. From there you can use a clip tool. Buying clip tools is for chumps grab a broken driver or one you don't otherwise care about, get the end red hot, smash it flat with a hammer, cut the right size opening with a cut off wheel. Sharpen it with a grinder. Pic will be in follow up post

>>28981989>I'm a perfectionist and you have no idea how much I'd screech if I'd have to live knowing there are 30-40 plastic screws rattling around inside the body. The van is atleast 22 years old, little plastic pieces of shit that old are just going to break
>>28982631The screwdriver metal is gonna be stiffer than this metal one >>28981990 just looking at it I know it will bend. Ive had those chinesium products before. The plastic ones are good to have for removing upholstered or vinyl and plastic cosmetic trim.Neat that this chink kit comes with mercedes and ford stereo removal tools. I would have bought this for those tools if I knew it existed. Instead I had to buy a set of stereo tools fof every manufacturer ever, 90% of which I won't need.
>>28982643OP is saying he is a perfectionist like it is a good thing. It is a pretty bad attribute. Everyone with an unfinished project car is a "PeRfEctiOnIsT"
>>28982655Tbh neither of those are drivers. The shorty is a sticker scraper that broke. The long one was found at an iron workers shop they thought it was my dad's cause we did autoglass for them. It's some form of mild steel that was heated up and melted into the handle. It's kinda handy to be able to bend it to do reach around clip pulls desu though
>>28981989they use these in in the id buzz too! i had to figure out how to remove them when taking the middle row seats out when i was camperizing it. i pinched the top part with pliers and use a hammer to knock the bottom until it was partly out then brute force yanked the top piece and they popped out ok
>>28981990this but also buy a box of assorted trim clippies off of amazon.
>>28981989These are programmed to commit seppuku on every Chrysler product ever
I press print and then wake up to hundreds. If you can't do that, buy a bunch in bulk. Consider these a one time use only. The ones that have become hard and brittle will always go to shit when you fiddle with them. Takes away all that wasted time of being careful. I mostly just use a flathead, and maybe some fabric in between if it's in a very visible place. And as the other guy said, stay away from the screw type. If I encounter them, I always change em out for the push pin type. Plastic threads is rarely the best option in any setting, let alone small ones on stuff like retainers and clips.
>>28982643So far nobody in this thread has said how to get the plastic pieces out from inside the body.I have a '86 Pontiac Firebird and this happened to me. Also dropped a fucking tool bit inside the body. You have no idea how much it bothers me knowing there's junk just rattling about inside my car. It's crazy there are areas of the car you simply can't access without a plasma cutter.
>>28982657>OP is saying he is a perfectionist like it is a good thing. It is a pretty bad attribute.This. When I remove rust off my car, I never remove all of it. I'm like, fuck this shit, I'm no autist. Then I just slap some Hammer paint on it.The rust comes back in 3 months but at least I'm not some stupid perfectionist.
