Whats Trans taiga you say? Allow me to ctrl+v:The Trans-Taiga Road is an unpaved, extremely remote wilderness highway in northern Quebec, Canada. Spanning 666 km (414 miles) from the James Bay Road to the Caniapiscau Reservoir, it is the most remote publicly accessible road in North America, leading drivers up to 745 km away from the nearest town.Question is; what car/bike are you taking for this trip?
>>28982438Anything that will get me in the opposite direction and out of Quebec.
>>28982438Sounds gay and furry.
chevvy
>>28982438v6 xv10 camry
>>28982438I'm from Oz, so don't know the area at all. Probably choose a Landcruiser or it's Lexass friend.
Sounds like a lot of stop and go so I would take my trusty Prius with some bigger tires
>>28982438I would take my trusty Suzuki Swift.>>28982527Good idea. Neat thing about the Prius is that you can run the air conditioning without needing the idle the engine, so you can nap in the car in air conditioned comfort. I can see this being very useful in northern Canada.
>>28982550how is the swift for longer trips? I'm thinking of getting one with AWD. I'd like to do road trips around europe
>>28982555Mine is AWD. It's pretty good. The M13A is incredibly smooth. I don't know what Suzuki did, but it's the smoothest I4 I've ever driven. The cabin is quiet and comfy, air conditioner is strong enough, and suspension is the right mix of compliant and confidence inspiring. It understeers by default, but you can bring the backend in line by lifting. It feels like the viscous coupling has a decent amount of pre-load. It's magic in the sand. I haven't driven it much on snow, but it seemed to work fine there too.On the downside, my number one complaint is that it could use more power. This is especially noticeable if you're driving somewhere with a lot of mountains/hills or strong headwinds. Other things-- fuel economy isn't great (~7L/100km if I'm lucky), no cruise control, and the window sills / belt-line is a little bit high.Overall, I think it's a pretty good car. Mine is at the shop now for service after an 18k km trip to west Africa and back (Budapest-Bamako rally). I'll do the Budapest-Bamako again in 2028 (and several smaller rallies between now and then), and the main mod I will do before that is more power. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.
>>28982523whatever you'd take on the canning stock route, if a vehicle can handle that it could easily handle the trans-taiga
I'm not really into off-roading but my dad is planning to do this exact trip sometime in the next year. He's taking a 2nd gen Montero that he just finished outfitting with, from what I assume with my limited knowledge, all the necessary mods for overlanding. Things like proper tires, bull(or bash?) bar, winch, beefier skid plates, rooftop tent, lights, and other misc things. It should be adequate but I'm curious to see how it'll do. He autistically refused to get a Land Cruiser because "everyone and their mother has one".
>>28982438Maruti Suzuki Alto k10.

>>28982438>Question is; what car/bike are you taking for this trip?probably my current ones, tacoma and a tenere
>>28982806T7 in the back of the tacoma amirite?
>>28982609>Canning Stock Route>trans-taigaYou're right. Maybe an Au Falcon wagon would be nicer.
