By far the best cars I've owned have been BMW's.

The drive train is miles ahead of most other mass produced brands. Longitudinal I6 or V8 & RWD is peak combination for driving balance, power application and fun driving for a front engine car. There is barely any other options for cars which have big power, RWD & planted cornering performance.

The engines are insanely good. The V8's sound amazing. The inline 6's are incredibly smooth. They make good power stock and even better when modding / tuning and generally take extra power well.

Interiors feel like some of the nicest places to be. Good quality leather, orange backlit instruments and buttons, good driving position, everything designed ergonomically and intelligently (apart from a lot of cup holders in BMW range)

Depends what you mean by best. Most thrilling for me was an Ariel atom on a track. As a driving experience not on the track, probably an old series II E-type. I wanted to just keep that thing, except for the fear of ripping the exhaust off.

Had a 5th gen prelude with a supercharger kit and upgraded sway bars & coilovers. I've never driven anything as fun as that thing was. It was like a scaled up version of one of those racing go-karts. Felt like there was absolutely no limit on the amount of cornering grip it had.

VW Golf had EV acceleration despite being a gas car. It was insanely quick and I've driven Aston Martins, Maybachs, Porsches, a V12 BMW, and various turbocharged police vehicles. That was literally the quickest and best handling vehicle, a fuckin Golf. It's so small and lightweight it just flies and turns on a dime.

Favorite overall was an Aston Martin DBX. The vehicle cants when you turn it. It was just a fun driving experience and still a practical vehicle. Almost got to drive the client's new McLaren but quit before being able to.

maserati mc20 is incredibly kino, great suspension for dicking around on regular roads. the exhaust sounds weird but not nearly as bad as recordings make it out as. good steering, good transmission, nice clean undistracting interior. I want a Cielo when they depreciate hard enough for me to own
>ever owned
giulia QV, it's a bigger heavier mc20 (or the mc20 is a smaller lighter QV)

My brother's old 320i Touring. It was insanely grounded to the ground. Super responsive steering.

My friend's 2019 Audi A5. Very comfortable car to drive. Good sound isolation, good visibility. It's a car made for people who value cruising above all else. I love its design too.

2026 Polestar 2. It's so deliberate, precise and fast in all the right ways without feeling like an unpredictable rocket. I don't see how any other EV can beat this save Taycan, which is multiple times more expensive.

Viper SRT-10 probably. Not the greatest way to introduce RWD to someone, but I haven't had an FWD in the 15+ yrs since.
