Is leaning on your horn as you're about to rear-end a stopped vehicle the right thing to do?
>>
if you have to use the horn to do anything while in your car someone has already fucked up bad

What would blowing your horn do knowing you're about to rear end someone?
>>

I don't know but it's something I've definitely seen (and heard) out on the road.

I remember I was stopped behind a car that was stopped and this woman came peeling around a curve and blared her horn as she slammed on the brakes before stopping right behind my car. I casually glanced back, since even if she did hit me there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it since it was a two-lane road and I was already behind someone, and saw she stopped so hard her kid in the front seat spilled their soda all over the dash and floor. She honked at me again angrily over it but I couldn't figure out what she was so mad about since everything she did was her own doing.

It was in a part of town where the apartment complex I was sitting in front of had a murder there literally every month for the entire year so she was ratchet as fuck.

Yes, the soundwaves going forward helps the car slow down.
Equal and opposite reactions or some shit.
>>
>>28983180
Or you could just pay attention when driving.

>I couldn't figure out what she was so mad about since everything she did was her own doing.
You can't expect a strong independent woman to take responsibility for her own actions, you sexist chud incel

These tiktoks aint gonna scroll themselves
>>
if you have time to hit your horn you have time to swerve
>>

People's response to an impending collision is to lock arms and steering wheel straight, slam on the breaks ( which is why they need ABS), and somehow honk the horn all at the same time. I'm focused on avoiding the collision and the thought of hitting the horn never crosses my mind unless I need to get the other driver's attention. Americans only use their horns in anger anyway, and I think the reaction is a sort of, "How dare you inconvenience me!".
>>
>someone cuts you off
>lean on your horn and start tailgating them

Why are some people like this? If someone does stupid shit on the road I'm keeping the distance, not trying my luck over and over.
>>

>I don't know but it's something I've definitely seen (and heard) out on the road
I don't doing that it's happened, NPCs and retarded people do things that are simply inexplicable.
>Hear car horn
>Look up and around
>Car gets crashed into while stopped

Wow that really helped.
>>
>>28983420
>dumb people do dumb shit
The revelation!
>>
>>28983197
>What would blowing your horn do
Are you that dumb??
The Horn is a multi-tool, and indispensible as a Warning device that can save lives or limit injury.

Turn in your license to the nearest DMV.
>>
i dont have a horn on my car i just go around retards
>>
>>28983180
Horns are just seethe buttons for normies, if you have time to use one before a collision that's time better spent steering and braking to avoid it.
>>
>>28983877
I'm about to crash into someone.
Better alert then using an auditory signal.
I crash into them.

What role did the horn play in their death?
>>
>>28983180
Normal fags think the horn makes cars safer.
I don't use my horn.
Why would I?
If I need to avoid someone who can't drive, I'll do it.
If I have to swerve to avoid a retard changing 4 lanes with looking; I'll just do it.
Honking the horn means 2-3 seconds not used for avoiding accidents.

Not to mention honking your horn can potentially make normal fags do erratic and unpredictable things.
Maybe a retard normie is merging into a lane without looking.
You honk the horn & they might swerve back into their Lane and lose control and hit someone else.

>Why would I?
the only time i use my horn is when the light red light turns green and the lead car hasn't taken off within 1.5 seconds. But I'll give a polite "BEEP BEEP" rhter than an agressive "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP".

Themes the brakes when phoneposting and autocorrect steps in.

>>28984325
It informed them that death was imminent and to spiritually prepare themselves
>>
>>28983197
NPCs do this for the sake of it, it would seem. Who knows their reasoning they don't have any.
>>
>>28983180
If some faggot has the time to honk his horn, he's just seething and there's no emergency.

>Is leaning on your horn as you're about to rear-end a stopped vehicle the right thing to do?
No, I use that time to apply the brakes and do an evasive maneuver. That is literally the worst possible action to do, not to mention that places you 100% at fault in a wreck.
>>
>>28983180
Horns are for proper niggers lol.
>fat beaner waddles up to me and tells me nice bike
>Thanks
>hey do you think you could help me with some money
>nah I paid with credit
>oh you can swipe your card too
>nah I'm not buying you gas with credit
>Ok and he fucks off
>2 mins later see him zooming around the parking lot in his v8 truck honking at people to hurry up
Fuck em

>i want to meet these people because they gotta have nothing going on upstairs
They have something going on upstairs, but it was never going to cooperate in the first place.

In neuroscience, there is a known phenomena called the Extended Mind Theory, where people perceive tools as an extension of their body. I think it lacks nuance, because Extended Mind theory also applies to identity and persona.

In this scenario, a person who treats a vehicle more like an extension of their identity and persona also externalizes it to other people. Leaning on the horn is basically their way of saying, "GET OUT OF MY WAY!" They will commit to a crash purely out of emotional spite. This is a known (but oftentimes unspoken) behavior in safety engineering which is why ADAS suites are designed to actively intervene against this. It's a kind of forbidden lore that isn't well documented in motoring psychology, but well known in everyday experience.

A person who treats a vehicle as an actual physical extension of their body perceives it at physical harm, like a fist flying towards their face. Instead of allowing their face to coexist with someone else's fist, they duck and evade, and people who tend to treat a car as a physical extension of their body will attempt to evade the impact. You don't want to break your nose in the same way you don't want to break your car.

The binary is oftentimes not as clear-cut, human psychology mandates that there is a spectrum of said mixtures of persona and body, it's not clearly compartmentalized. It also explains why some people are more prone to road rage, because they tie a persona to the interaction (you're actively getting in my way) rather than the mechanical reality of traffic (too many obstacles to make good time).

There is a statistic that about 2.4% of drivers commit to a huge multitude of highly risky driving behaviors (usually dangerous enough to land a felony if they wreck), and around 11% admit to doing so as well (usually lands a misdemeanor with high percentage of fault on a wreck). The reality of that depending on the region and locale, about 1/8 to 1/5 of drivers engage in what is essentially one of two distinct ego/persona biased behaviors:
>reckless social chicken
These are your aggressive drivers that treat driving as a social confrontation and a show of power, dominance, and even perceived skill. You get your road-ragers, boy racers, stunters/street takeover types, clout chasers, etc.
>negligent risk compensation
These are your drivers who are perceived as asleep at the wheel or have nothing going on upstairs, because they surrender their agency to a car's safety systems or have allocated too much mental attention to something else (usually the smartphone).

Most drivers are very safe and on their own, they'll never wreck. However, accidents do happen, and there's a minority of the population that will guarantee that vehicles will collide and the vast majority of motoring fatalities and liabilities come from them.

Brake first before lean on horn. Smartest choice is to brake, swerve to other lane or shoulder to avoid the collision if possible.
>>
>>28985641
Or just swerve to other lane without braking if situation makes it possible.
