1981 model. It runs and drives and is registered. Timing belt water pump done in 2019. No logbooks. Hong Kong Import allegedly. Beige on brown. Dashboard has seen better days, otherwise seems ok. Talk me out of it anons. I make decent money but I'm not loaded. I am used to wrenching on old BMWs but haven't owned porsh b4.
>>28983639Oh and it's autotragic.
I don't know the burger market. But that feels a bit low and could be a bit problematic, i get you'll wrench on it though. Would the 944 not be a better prospect?
>>28983642DESU probably yes. It's actually in Australia but seems most ppl on here are yanks so I just did the currency conversion for reference. I just like 928s from a design POV and this one does seem very cheap for an actual driving running example but also I feel like I'm asking for trouble. I just read that it you gotta take the front end off to do a timing belt. Parts availability is a concern naturally. It has 83k miles but true mileage unknown bc the odo was broke when the previous owner got it.
>>28983647Sorry mate I originally read this thread early in the morning I thought it was for the 924. 928 is a better prospect as a car. Then that would most likely for that price of dollerydoo's be way too cheap and probably a money pit. If you want a project, then there's one for you. But i'd honestly look for a better example desu mate.
>>28983639Youre asking on the wrong forum full of fuckups. My guess is that there's not a single person on /o/ who has dealt with keeping a 928 running. On rennlist there will be dozens and you'll properly understand what insanity you're considering. The good news is that it (purportedly) is running but that's unlikely to be the case for long if you dont know anything about it. You're buying a 45 yr old car that was positioned as a premium GT car when it was new, you should prob do your research before dropping any coin and wasting time with it. Oddly... there was recently a vid I watched on youtube where some New zealander was given a non-running, gold colored 928 by his former boss who was moving out of country. The guy was prepared but ended up doing a complete engine teardown and rebuild over about 9 mos, along with all the associated "while I'm in there" stuff. It wasnt a trivial effort and there are a lot of vids even in OZ where they discuss why there are so many 928's in your country.
>>28983639i love the checkered interior
>>28983639Lol
Mileage isn’t a concern really. It’s the list of things that you’ll need to do to it. If it was any good then someone would have put time and money into it. You *could* be getting lucky and it might just be a case of them not being bothered, but generally speaking a 928 at that price point is going to have major issuesFor the time and money you’ll likely have to spend you’re better off buying one that costs twice as much with at least some evidence of recent maintenance
>>28983640The auto is a complete piece of shit and you'll want to drive the car off a cliff within a month unless you have a stick swap lined up.Seriously, who the fuck makes a 3 speed auto?
