It's time for me to replace my DD, after 8 years. With gas prices being what they are, petrol or even diesel isn't an option anymore (and being an yuropean, we are taxed to hell anyway). Because the wife was raving about "how cool they are" today I booked a test drive with a Tesla Model 3 RWD long range. Never even sat in one before. I was prepared to hate it... And I loved it.>Electric is shitThe instant power was amazing to experience, and the silence is perfect for a DD. I drove it for 30 min with several full throttle pulls, and lost 4% battery. Also only touched the brakes once or twice during the entire drive. >Ikea interiorEverything you touch feels nice and solid, and nicely, and the interior is roomy even in the back . Everything being on the screen was my biggest worry, but all major controls are directly accessible and the rest you can fiddle with while the car drives itself. A few thing are legit stupid like the drive select and the glovebox, but it's not the end of the world. My only gripe is the lack of a hatch, it would be so much more practical. >Disposable carThe battery has a 8 years warranty, and they showed me a customer car with 300000km that still had 70% battery range. >Elmo MuskDon't care, I'm buying a car, not dating the guy. Ford and Porsche were no better, and people have no complaints about the brands.I'm legit charmed by this car; not on an emotional level but more like "I need a tool, and this one ticks all the boxes". I see myself getting driven to work while the ventilated seat cools my ass and the really good stereo blasts some bass. And most of all, reducing my operating costs by almost 10x. What can I do to get this idea out of my head ?
Too many words for me personally
>>28984372I appreciate you letting me know you're European. You're a fuckin faggot pussy, do whatever nobody cares
>>28984372>What can I do to get this idea out of my head ?why? just get it, be a happy family with your wife and gtfo. unless your wife is imaginary
I can smell the brown larp
>>28984372If it matches what you need, go get it.But first, calculate on a spreadsheet on the Total Cost of Ownership for your current car and the electric car.A lot of people make the mistake that if they save money on gas, they save money on the car, without factoring in that a new car has a car payment, higher registration (or maybe not in your nation), higher insurance, variable maintenance costs, etc.Take a whole picture approach rather than just eMPG alone. Now, cars are mostly emotional purchases for most people, so take that into account too. Is it worth paying money to have this, or is your life energy better spent elsewhere?
T ES T L A ESTLA
I would never buy a car that has constant surveillance and can be controlled remotely.
>>28984435You'll get used to it. I wouldn't worry about it goyim
>>28984372LOL
>>28984372>useless fucking essay>EV faggot
>>28984372>My only gripe is the lack of a hatch, it would be so much more practical. It is. Get the i4 or Polestar 2 instead. Way better hatchback sedans.
>>28984372Nice try shill
>get rear ended by woman driver at 20mph>total loss, insurance pays you market value of your used tesla>Here's $7000 for ur car :^)
>>28984372Good idea. Teslas are true Enthusiast Vehicles. Great performance, great value and great looks.automobile(n.)"self-propelled motor vehicle," 1895, from French automobile, short for véhicule automobile (see automobile (adj.)). The modern Greek calls it autokineto "moved of itself." The French word had competition in the early years from locomobile; in English other early forms were motorcar and autocar (q.v.). An electrical car was an electromobile (1899).
>>28984372Does anyone make an EV that has real door handles and gauges and buttons instead of a giant glorified smart phone touch screen to run everything?
>>28984937Not yet, but expect that to change as China is implementing laws to force real door handles and buttons into cars. Who would've expected that? Even the EU is doing something similar. Anyways I'm sure American cars will still get increasingly more touchscreen stuff. Steering wheels will probably be replaced by touch controls next.
>>28984937>real gaugeWhat do you mean by this? The gauge in an EV will always be electric. It can't be analog by the sheer nature of the drivetrain.>real door handles and buttonsSure lots of European brands are making EVs like this. In fact those gay ass digital door handles are mostly a Tesla and chink phenomenon.
>”booked” a test drive>”charmed” by the carWhat a faggy shillpost.
>>28984937A screen is more versatile because it can display anything you want.
>>28985173Do you like knowing that idiots are around you driving and they now have to switch between screens on a UI and maybe misclick some stuff instead of naturally reaching for, say, the aircon dial?
So you're asking incels on a tranime forum why you shouldn't buy a car that you loved?
>>28984372Coworkers experience:>Model Y LR 2022 for $61,000>Fast forward 3 years:>Old lady rear ends him >Insurance pays out $27,00055% value loss in 3 years Fucking hell.
>>28985607He got conned by his insurance company.
>>28985628That's just how bad the used EV market around here is.For a while, Model Ys were $18k used when Elon got all the "natzi" accusations
>>28985638The insurance company is supposed to pay more than current market value to also cover some pity points for losing a car unintentionally.
>>28985638For several years they had huge depreciation because gov't incentives were adding up (CAFE fees can work on a system where a "fuel using" company can "sell credits" to a "greener" one, plus the former $7,500 EV incentive) and Tesla kept dropping the prices of their new cars. This meant early adopters who paid much more (if they wanted to) had to sell their cars at a huge loss because they were now competing against the cheaper price of new versions of that car.
>>28984372the battery charge will always be on your mind. if you really on drive it for work then go for it. if you want to take it out have fun planning around charging stations (of which there are not many)
>>28984963>The gauge in an EV will always be electric. It can't be analog by the sheer nature of the drivetrain. Old trolleybuses, trams and electric locomotives had all-analog gauges. Heck, those ancient Detroit Electric cars had gauges which registered regen braking.
>>28985849thisnigga has never heard of a VU meter lole
>>28985670>pay more than current market valueMy Sweet Summer child, they only pay you fair market value. The pull up two to three sales from your zip code and that's the money you get. >>28985674Even excluding the $7,500 tax credit as depreciation; that depreciation is still absolutely insane.Too bad your insurance doesn't value it any lower.Only after it gets crashed will they lower that value.
>>28986013>Too bad your insurance doesn't value it any lower.I am heavily anti-EV. Don't assume I have one. I just report what I see. My post about depreciation could have been construed positively or negatively for EVs depending on your choice of words.
>>28986017.t
>>28986026How so? They did depreciate for the reasons I stated. That can be seen as either a good or bad thing for EVs depending on your perspective. I have no interest in EVs, but if I see something I'll say it even if it seems to disagree with my philosophy and preferences.
>>28986013>Too bad your insurance doesn't value it any lower.>Only after it gets crashed will they lower that valueThat's the funny part. You pay premium prices but then crash and get shitbox money in return.
