back in 2024 when I drove to texas from nebraska just to see the solar eclipse. It was fun. more fun than the eclipse was. I ended up driving out to a park to see the eclipse in another town from my hotel town. I could've just stayed in my hotel town and got a good shot. instead, I listened to a fucking random tow truck driver who told me Killeen Texas was the best place to view the eclipse. It wasn't. it was overcast. I could still see it, but not as clearly as if I just stayed in Fort Worth where my hotel was.

fuck i'm still mad about it. but the drive was really fun, more fun than anything I actually did in texas itself including the eclipse. It made me realize I love driving across america and wish I could do it again in a less shitty car.

of course. I'm a nearly 30 year old virgin driving a car you couldn't pay most people to ride in, let alone take a trip in. At least that meant I could drive as fast as I wanted to without worrying about scaring passengers. Texas drivers were wild and there was nothing more fun than going 80+ on a completely dark highway while everyone was riding each other's asses. my shitbox struggled to keep up with Texas traffic.

I flew to Miami and then drove to Key West. Fantastic little trip.

It's a shitsubishi mirage. 70 HP, lots of wind noise and buzzing at high speeds. still has a banger enough sound system that I didn't mind. If you're a giga chad, then yea. I get why you would feel like it's a waste. for me, It's just the default option.

Drove from Osaka to Tokyo in a rental GR86 with a few stops on the way and lots of twisty backroads. Was fun. Especially a stretch of road that's essentially a service road for some hydro power plants north of Hamematsu was really satisfying to drive.
