how much harder is it to drive with a trailer? I'm moving cross country and I would rather not pay scamoving companies $10k to move a studio.

>>28985101Really not all that difficult frankly. Obviously choose the right prime mover for the trailer based on size and weight. You need to drive more conservatively and have a much wider turning radius. You can still speed but I would limit it and give yourself room to maneuver. I personally prefer trailers that have their own brakes so that you don't put all that stress on just your own car (if you're not renting/borrowing a truck to do this). If doing it at night you should have a trailer that has its own lighting to signal you're turning or braking; this wiring has to be connected to your vehicle via integrated wiring that may or may not be present if you already have a hitch. U-Haul hitches are honestly fine, even if I prefer OEM / factory-installed setups, as the latter usually come with a heavier duty set-up that allows you to pull more.Basically it's fine. Just be cautious, practice a little in the parking lot, and then figure it out. The alternate is to get the large moving truck and drive that towing your personal vehicle behind it. If you're driving in mountains or higher altitude areas I would recommend a diesel Penske truck or the like over the gas U-Hauls. Diesel just handles better and I've easily passed U-Hauls struggling on long inclines in a larger diesel. >>28985102gatekeeping nigger

>>28987018If you're talking about the two wheel dolly, no, because the rear wheels are a point of ground contact. Your bigger problem is, don't just throw it in neutral and tow it. That's not ideal for the rear end/trans-axle for any driving more than a few miles. Either you disconnect the axles or you load it rear first and lock/tie the steering wheel straight so the front tires stay straight. Or better yet, if you can tow it, get the full trailer and just load the beetle ass first. Not that it would even matter there as that trailer is VERY heavy on its own.

>>28985101Don't underestimate what an extra ~2000lbs can do to a vehicle in a hairy situation. Even more so when it's a single axle with no manually activatable trailer brakes. I've seen guys roll little utility trailers and the trailer still put their 3/4 tons on 2 wheels.
