how much harder is it to drive with a trailer? I'm moving cross country and I would rather not pay scamoving companies $10k to move a studio.
>>28985101fuck off we're full
>>28985101Really not all that difficult frankly. Obviously choose the right prime mover for the trailer based on size and weight. You need to drive more conservatively and have a much wider turning radius. You can still speed but I would limit it and give yourself room to maneuver. I personally prefer trailers that have their own brakes so that you don't put all that stress on just your own car (if you're not renting/borrowing a truck to do this). If doing it at night you should have a trailer that has its own lighting to signal you're turning or braking; this wiring has to be connected to your vehicle via integrated wiring that may or may not be present if you already have a hitch. U-Haul hitches are honestly fine, even if I prefer OEM / factory-installed setups, as the latter usually come with a heavier duty set-up that allows you to pull more.Basically it's fine. Just be cautious, practice a little in the parking lot, and then figure it out. The alternate is to get the large moving truck and drive that towing your personal vehicle behind it. If you're driving in mountains or higher altitude areas I would recommend a diesel Penske truck or the like over the gas U-Hauls. Diesel just handles better and I've easily passed U-Hauls struggling on long inclines in a larger diesel. >>28985102gatekeeping nigger
The hardest part about a trailer is reversing, and remembering they you have a trailer when you make lane changes.
>>28985101Easy until you have to back up. I'd watch some tutorials on driving and backing with a trailer if you aren't sure. I had not issues for hundreds of miles until I had to back up, that was a fucking nightmare.
>>28985101Reversing with a trailer is the opposite of what your brain will try to tell you to do. If you have space straighten your trailer as much as possible before reversing. It's not really hard but if you never did it before you'll look like a jackass at first, just how it is.
Just get rid of most of your shit and take only exactly what you need & get new shit when you get there. Trust me
>>28985101loading the trailer right is important, don't be featured in a crash compilation video
>>28985101If you have to ask, you should ask your boyfriend to help you move.
>>28985126Trump is coming for you, faggot.
>>28985308>be featured in a crash compilation videolol mustang
>>28985311This, we have to stop excepting that it okay to be ask question like this. Either you didn't have a father figure or are disowned by your family for being a flaming queer
>>28985313and youre a faggot cumming for trump. Good job homo
>>28985101Trailer is not bad to tow. Just remember to not forget your towing a trailer. You always have to plan and execute your maneuvering with the understanding that your essentially operating TWO VEHICLES.But before moving, I hope your planning on selling a bulk of you personal household "stuff" that isn't extremely valuable or important.Keep tools, devices, computers, expensive highly functional stuff.Dont bother packing and loading and hauling and unloading and unpacking a bunch of commonmindane household items that are easier to replace once you reach your destination.
>>28985308Did that once when I was young. Super scary, but didn't crash. Loaded up an old Chevy on the trailer with no motor and a trunk full of trannies.
>>28985101Barely any difference. Just remember you have one, when changing kanes like the other anon said and to keep some extra margin when turning corners. Reverse it will take a few times to get the hang if it but you can always avoid that though maybe you'll have to carry your stuff a few extra meters
>>28985101First- stay in the fuckin shithole you created for yourself and dont contaminate the rest of the country with your shittiness.Second- your empeegees are going to be anywhere from 5-9mpg towing a loaded trailer so factor that into your costs. I tow all the time but sometimes it makes more sense to spend the $3-5k on a POD and load that thing to max capacity.
>>28985308If I went to go buy an old air cooled beetle and tow it on a uhaul dolly, is the engine on that heavy enough to cause this?
>>28985101How hard would it be to get a tow bar put on my Lincoln Town Car? If I did how much would it fuck up the look of my car?
>>28987214250-ish for the draw tite. which is about the same as any car. you literally could have googled this.and no, the receiver is hidden behind the bumper and you use a drop hitch.
>>28987227>Google itYeah; but I'm a lazy twat and I'm already here.
>>28987018If you're talking about the two wheel dolly, no, because the rear wheels are a point of ground contact. Your bigger problem is, don't just throw it in neutral and tow it. That's not ideal for the rear end/trans-axle for any driving more than a few miles. Either you disconnect the axles or you load it rear first and lock/tie the steering wheel straight so the front tires stay straight. Or better yet, if you can tow it, get the full trailer and just load the beetle ass first. Not that it would even matter there as that trailer is VERY heavy on its own.
>>28987260cool thanks
>>28985101Don't underestimate what an extra ~2000lbs can do to a vehicle in a hairy situation. Even more so when it's a single axle with no manually activatable trailer brakes. I've seen guys roll little utility trailers and the trailer still put their 3/4 tons on 2 wheels.
