How was the experience?

the only thing worse than buying cars is selling them
>>
>>28986472
It's fucked. You can moderate the pain by selling particular cars that don't attract a retard audience. For example, selling my E36 was a nightmare because of all the drifter fags and other undesirables from low income environs being drawn to it. However, my 83 Mercedes was fine bc some old white dude bought it, and my gf's golf was fine, bc I was just dealing with normal people looking for a daily.

i sold a 300 dollar parts car to a guy
ended up buying a 600 dollar parts car from him a year later.
he was trying to build a coyote foxbody and was hoarding cars to do it.
he had my fucked up 85 salvage title race car I got off some hillbillies, had two capris and a notchback.
his wife lightpoled the side kf his s550 which was the donor.
I kinda wish I didn't sell him the 85 because I am slightly less scared of back-halfing and tubularing the strut tower forward which is what it needed as the hillbilllies just slung a front cap over a wrecked car.

I used to work at a dealership selling cars, so yeah it was all I did all day. Can't imagine putting up with that bullshit without a base salary

I'm about to sell my 3rd gen WRX and I'm dreading it
I'd love nothing more than to just trade it in but I'd like to get some sort of value out of it as a dealership would offer me a used tissue for it and I've seen examples with spun bearings or blown headgaskets get at least a little bit more than that and while mines very well uses it doesn't have either of those issues

I can already see the messages from lowballing beaners and pls ship to me I mail u check saar

yeah sold my 07 v6 accord about two years ago to some older Mexican. I wanted a bmw that would actually feel fun to drive and rewarding to get back on the road as opposed to the Toyota/subaru/honda I had to repair before. It had 140k on the odometer and the transmission was beginning to whine. Posted it on Craigslist and had 5-6 people text me asking to buy them some carfax equivalent, most likely bots. Finally someone texts, we meet at a nearby park. He looks around, asks for a test drive, goes around the block, agrees to buy. I ask 5700, he offers 5500, I accept. Nothing extraordinary, was simple and pleasant.

>sell golf iv with seized piston to my former driving instructor
>we agree on price X
>write down price in the contract and he signs it
>one month later he calls me shouting that I scammed him because supposedly we agreed on half of X
>apparently the sliding roof seals were also leaking so the interior got moldy while he was away
>not my problem, never had any leaks in three years I owned the thing
>cut contact

Join a local subaru club. Selling in 'enthusiast' groups usually attracts 'enthusiast' buyers.

Pretty cool, the transaction was easy, they paid in full in cash then we had sex afterwards

This is basically my story of selling my LS400. It’s fairly desirable so I had over a dozen people contact me within the first hour of posting and sold it to some nice country kid the next morning after meeting him at the park for a test drive. Selling my merc was even easier since I just used Cars and Bids.

Sold my VW Passat to some old guy who was just looking for something to get him places until his new car arrived. I feel kinda bad selling it because the car was poorly managed by me. In hindsight I should've just kept it as a secondary car or given it to my dad.
>>
>mom sells one of her beater cars to a rando from craigslist
>forgets to take her plates off
Nothing bad happened yet

He could have bought you a burrito on top of this.
>>
>>28986669
have her check if her state has a notice of transfer or release if liability form
if they don't have something like that then report the plates missing and double check the car title if definitely out of her name
>>

They lowballed like fuck so I put a shit ton more miles on it, left a warning light on, and gave it to them with a gas tank so close to empty they probably had to tow it to their house. Basically said fuck you and dumped it on them. Had way better experiences trading in my used cars. People buying used cars are so fucking poor they're just rude about it. If you can't afford it fuck off.

Traded my 94 mighty max 4x4 that I bought off a pair of lesbian crackheads who dwelled in squalor in a town of population: 80. Who made their living smoking meth, chopping wood, loaded wood into said truck, and haul it into the logging town to get some cash to gamble at the casino or contribute to their next fix.

I loved the truck even if it was FUCKED UP. 300k miles, but I put some money into it. Got it for 1800, drove it 80 miles with no brakes and made it home. Put another 1200 innit and thought what am I doing.

I swear to God this truck was cursed, I had tweakers roll up on my door lying about that being their truck and I stole it and painted it black. (It wasn't, clean title was in my name)
Eventually, a dude off marketplace offered me a trade. A White E250 Econovan with the gear driven inline 6. At first I didn't want it, but then he offered to add 2k on top for my truck. This asian dude had a shitty neck tat and despite it all seeming too good to be true, I immediately took it, the van? Unbelievably clean. Very little rust. Just missing a front bumper. Dude drove off in my mighty max in a plume of smoke from the valve stems not being warmed up enough which was hilarious.
The catch on the van? It had 1 bearing sounding like it was ready to go if you held a stethoscope to the rear side of the block on the interior doghouse side.
I immediately sold the van for 4k cash to a dude who wanted the body style specfically like the one I had. He was a swell dude, working stiff type. I am just grateful to be out of that mighty max, badass truck but that specfic one was cursed and a little too fucked up to be worth considering to restore even out of personal interest in the truck.
>picrel my old cursed truck, God I loved that thing even if it made my life objectively worse

I had a Ram 50 of that bodystyle. The boxed frame was missing two of its sides by the front bed mounts. I traded it to a kid with a Pontiac Bonneville SE with the 3800 and the bench seat - the bonnie had a bad blower motor and both front wheel bearings were shot. The kid said he wanted to replace the G63B 4cyl in the truck with a 6G72 V6.

That one had the 6G72 and it was a fantastic motor. Manual locking axles. 4wd. Hi-low. It was awesome.

not really, all our customers were pretty well off except the really young ones making bad but fun decisions. we didn't need to put anybody into a financial hole to move cars. one guy doing some pretty specialized construction did buy a Ghibli, then took a pay cut to work in an office instead of in the field, and asked several months later if he could still return the car, but that was a QUICK no. We had a no refund policy because we sent out paperwork to their DMV either same day or first thing next day, we didn't delay for weeks like a lot of chain stores do (which is how they offer an exchange period)

I've got such an extremely long list of problems on my car (and no time or energy to fix them), nothing that impedes daily or dangerous, but still. And there are listings for ones like mine but without (listed anyways) all the issues for like $4k at most if it's really nice. So depressing bros, no way I'd get even $2k for a daily without working a/c (but heat is good) and a rear main leak and slight water leak in headliner.

I don't think it's worth it anymore. Too many scammers out there, not to mention people get murdered for the cars they try to sell.
>>
>>28989985
The fuck do you mean. You meet at the tag agency and sign over the title. Whats there to scam.
>>
>>28990005
>scam
One of them distract you while the other one fucks with the engine, then they try to get a discount.

>murder
They want to test drive the car. Drive to a shady place, then murder you.

Good luck selling a car without any test drive or letting people pop the hood though.

I've been the buyer a few times for motorbikes. Never sold.
>first time: seller said "yeah it totally starts" (it pissed fuel all over the ground because the carb had clogged up, offered to work on it because I thought it was just a fuel line loose. She called a mechanic. Desu, I didn't know wtf I was doing)
>2nd: guy selling a motorbike. It worked, and I paid what he asked without negociation ($1750) but I came a few times over a few days so mild pain in the ass. Bought, found out he didn't tell me it was a salvage title (but the guy was like "I'm so honest right?????? U trust me bro????")
>3rd: Came, guy talked about the bike, realised I missed the word "statutatory writeoff" (meaning it can't be re-registered). Apologised for wasting his time and left.
>4th. Guy sells bike. Said the servo air-filler wouldn't connect to the front tyre (some monkey had punctured the tube with a tyre-iron) but I bought it. Negociated very little from his price. Tells me he'd find the second key and tell me (never did), and while he kept the factory exhaust, it couldn't fit on because he lost one connector (dual exhaust bike).
4th guy was an idiot who rode 300 miles in 3 years of ownership and had the rear brake adjusted so badly that I bent the lever trying to get any braking force from it at all.

I sold an 01 jetta for my brother once when he was in college. Went pretty smooth actually. Asked for $2k, guy tried to give like $1500, I said no the price is firm and he just said okay and gave it to me. I was actually shocked he didn't try to haggle after I shut down his offer. And it was the first person who looked at it. I just got lucky I think
