Between the northern route through Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago, or the middle route going through Indianapolis, St. Louis and Kansas City, which one will be less likely to get my shit stolen?
>>28988810Anon, I'm trying my very best not to make fun of you but this should be obvious.
>>28988810Maybe avoid staying overnight in large cities if possible. My sister got her catalytic converter stolen last year when visiting family in south eastern VA.It really seems like a roll of the dice.
>>28988810Bait used to be believable.
>>28988810Step 1: booby trap the U-HaulStep 2: setup camerasStep 3: park in da hoodStep 4: waitStep 5: share the videos with the rest of us, please and thank youPossible Traps- pitbulls- fireworks- tar & feather- bomb
>>28988832Don't forget to include a job recruiter as one of the traps.
Neither but no tolls on the southern routlot of construction on 70 rnMF need to get better at passing lane use
If you're coming from Pittsburgh, just take I-79 South through West Virginia and take 64 all the way to St. Louis, on your way to Kansas City. You will still have to deal with construction but not as much, and 64 into East Saint Louis is the worse of it.
>>28988810>which one will be less likely to get my shit stolen?A nonstop route, stopping only for gas.
>>28988810The interstate doesn't even go through Detroit
>>28989153What the fuck are you talking about, have you even been to Detroit?
>>28989292I-90 goes through Ohio into Indiana then Illinois. If you're going cross country you'd have to make a detour to end up in Detroit.
>>28989153I dunno I google mapped it and the two routes are Cleveland-Detroit-Chicago and Indianapolis-St. Lous-KC.
>>28989334If you want to add a couple hours to your trip for no reason then go for it.
>>28989348Is Toledo any better than Detroit, if we are being completely honest?
>>28989362Forget Toledo, you're forgetting the fact he has to drive through Gary, Indiana.
>>28989388What makes Gary uniquely terrible?
>>28989348>Angola
>>28989425Named after the city of Angola, New York, of course
>>28989394Niggers
>>28988810The Chicago-Indiana corridor is the 8th circle of hell.
>>28988810Just stay in bumfuck no where, the hotels will be cheaper too. This is actually very simple. I moved to CO from MI last year and just stayed overnight at some gas station stop in Nebraska, only took my gats into the hotel room with me because I’m paranoid.
Would going through Memphis, Little Rock, and Oklahoma City be any safer? It might add at least a day to the trip.
>>28988810It's unlikely you will get anything stolen if you camp out at parks for the night instead of stay in a city. Number one way to avoid theft is to go where there are fewer people.
>>28989482memphis has the highest crime rate in the country. But you can just pass through any city without being robbed, IDK why you are so scared. Just go the way that is the shortest. Northern routes are more scenic.
>>28989348I added like 6hrs to my trip from Houston to Detroit avoiding Illinois since they didn't honor my CCW and dont honor safe passage laws.Sucks.I will say Indiana is the most beautiful state in the lower 48. I've never seen less trash than in Indiana. Even Indianapolis wasn't that bad. Rest of the state had ZERO trash I mean not even one spec. Surreal trip.
>>28989569>I will say Indiana is the most beautiful state in the lower 48It's up there with Illinois in being the most boring and it has one of the worst roads I've driven on.
>>28988821Well, if he wants to tour Murder Capitals...One route sends him through:#3, #5, #9The other tours:#1, #6, #11So a cumulative average of 5.66 vs 6Due to year-by-year variances, one route is statistically identical to the other.
>>28990223St. Louis is in a league of its own holy shit
If you stop in KC book somewhere on the Kansas side of the state line and your odds for theft decrease measurably. I would avoid an overnight in Chiraq and St Lou's if you can help it.
Since Cleveland is a waypoint, the only route that makes sense is the northern one. Some notes: Fuel at the big 5 truck stops which are Love's, Pilot, Flying J, Petro and Travel Centers of America (T/A). Fuel no later than somewhere in the middle of Ohio and not again until at least I-80 mm112 at Morris Illinois. DO NOT stop anywhere from about 1/2 way across Indiana until at least that I-80 mm112. That's all basically South Chicago/Gary IN. Also that section of I-80/90/94 from where I-65 meets it in Indiana over to the Illinois state line is a traffic nightmare at all hours just jam-packed with 18 wheelers that were all supposed to be somewhere yesterday so they're pushing hard. Rush hours make this section even worse so try to avoid going through there during those times. Once on the other side of Morris IL it's a cakewalk through Des Moines, Omaha, and then I-76 down into Denver.
>>28990687Also, once you get into Iowa your fuel economy will start to suffer. I-80 through Iowa is a series of wide creek valleys that basically has you climbing a hill all the way across. Then in Nebraska you start the shallow grade from 1000-ft above seal level at Omaha, to 1800 at Grand Island and continuing up to the 5200 feet of Denver. I've also found there's frequently a wind out of the NW or West too.
>>28990696But Iowa 80 is fun!
>>28988810Indy-KC easily. Dont stop in St Louis. KCMO has some not great areas but nothing nearly as bad as St Louis. If you need a break just pull off in the Legends or Overland Park.
If you do need to stop in St Louis metro, do so at Chesterfield off of I-64.
