>Yo brah it has 300 horsepower! 100 horsepower per cylinder brah!

Why should I care about a literal THREE-cylinder car
>>
>>28989745
3 cylinder engines are for bikes. At least its more torquey than a 1.6l 4cyl though.
>>
>>28989753
>At least its more torquey than a 1.6l 4cyl though.

Rather not ,but the magic of motorcycles lies in their weight.

The lightest homologated car available for purchase in 2026 weighs 490 kg ,meanwhile 2026 Yamaha YZF-R1 has a wet weight of 203 kg
>>
>>28989745
Because it's faster than you're car

no joke, C&D clocked it at 12.9 quarter mile, it shits all over /o/'s raggeddy ass 330is and other turkmobiles
>>
>>28989935
that's the yaris. the corolla is mid to high 13s, which a 2006 335i with lsd can do. another loss for weebs, put it on the board tito

honestly this car is a great price though
>>
>>28989959
nah yaris is 12.7
>>

thats what I just said you fucking brown esl nigger. the corolla is not in the 12s. you crack smoking weeb jeet.

How does that weigh more than a 6 cylinder cayman?

it's insane to me that people spend $40-50k+ on "racing trim" economy cars.
>>
>>28990012
the grs are not economy cars. front and rear limited slip awd with 300hp is a sports car. this hurts your feeling for some reason? maybe youre on the wrong board.

at least the work truck will last and nothing else can do its job. the shitty yaris will blow up and can be out done by a 4 cylinder camaro for half the price.

Oh yes the treaterous terrain of the Wallmart parking lot can really only be conquered by an F150 King Ranch
>>
>>28990062
are you larping as an american, the gr yaris isn't even available here. 4cyl camaros are fine but not the same thing
>>
>>28989745
Toyota is cheap shit. They didn't want to spend money on a good engine that doesnt blow up so they grabbed a head off a 2GR v6 and chopped the block in half and voila. Toyota shittiness. What really gets me is how these fucking retards out there are all soijakked about a POS hack 3 cyl like the wrenchlets and ricers they are lol
>>
>>28990104
That way they don't have to pay Yamaha twice to make them a new engine. That's called amortizing the fuck out of your assets. Cheap ass greedy kikes
>>
>>28990012
The worst part is Toyota put it in the base-spec third world center console because they needed "muh manual parking brake" so theres no center armrest because of that.
>>
>>28990012
I bought a focus rs back when they were new. It just made sense for my situation. I wanted a nice little daily driver so why not get the one with over 300hp? Whats the alternative? Just drive a base model focus?

not everyone has a total lack of respect for their own time like you. The whole purpose of a daily driver is to be low effort, low maintenance, reliability and functionality, nothing more.

Swapping engines and trannies etc come with a host of complications and complexities that directly contradict that philosophy. You daily drive a project car and will occasionally pay the price for that.

Why are you on an automotive enthusiast board if you hate wrenching that much? Even then I spent one summer's weekends doing that swap and have had pleasant trouble free driving ever since because I'm not too retarded to finish a project. It's not half baked, it's done. It is low effort, low maintenance, reliable, and functional.
>>
>>28990176
I actually built my own car from scratch using iron I mined and smelted myself and it's powered by gasoline that I refined from oil made from the remains of dinosaurs that I raised myself 350 million years ago

its called being a automotive enthusiast not a wrenching enthusiast or mechanic larper or role player

if you make more money than wrenching on a ancient shitbox that you can pay someone more power to you. everything on a car has a finite lifespan moreso if you live in a salt state where after a certain point unless you make it your full time job fixing your car financing a new car is cheaper.

even if cars dont rust out

>rings and bearings wear out (engine, trans, rear)
>seals all harden and tear up
>accidents happen and the bumper/windshield you could get when the car was 10 years old is now unobtainium 30 years later
>a good paintjob is $4-6000 (every 15 years if you live in a sun state)
>parts start getting really hard to get where your car unironically goes down for a few months until someone lists the fuel pump assembly you need or you have to import it from malaysia or japan or thailand
>still have to work 40-50 hours a week + 1-2 hour daily commute + deal with gf/wife/kids = no time to fix your car (or you're missing overtime to wrench)
>miss seat time at motorsports events because its unreliable or you're constantly chasing the next issue (i swear there isn't a car older than 10 years old at your average hpde; even na/nb miatas are getting rare)
>if you mod it you're now personally engineering it to handle that extra 2-3x hp it makes over stock on 20+ year old parts (the manuf made it to handle maybe +50hp over stock brand new in 1998)

honestly old cars are fucking gay sometimes i completely understand if you treat yourself and finance something new or <7 years old...new cars are fucking fast too in 2020+

No it is bad, youre just coping. There is NO reason a 3cyl performance engine should ever exist. It doesn't even make a power stroke at every cycle, what the fuck ? Who would make a high performance like that?Like, fuck you. How fucking bad is that idea though?
>>
>>28990221
yeah thats how it works

when the hobby starts being enjoyable its not a hobby anymore its a chore

i also forgot

>time keeps ticking and you spend another summer with your car on jackstands reliving irl my summer car while your friends zoom by in their newer cars with way less issues (spent 3 summers like this and it fucking sucked)

>after 300,000 miles cars get REALLY funky re: random failures, stuff like seat motors die or random sensors or wiring issues start to happen

>>28990228

after 30 years the junkyard starts to run dry (those cars were crushed 10 years ago) and you're either left dealing with 20-30 year old used parts or china shit (which is awesome when you're dealing with stuff like cam sensors or distributors...price out a honda b16 distributor)

remember when those cars are 5-10 years old people throw shit out or the parts go for next to nothing
>>

Well I have a 8500rpm redline engine from 1994 in 1995 car and I've never cracked a headbolt on it. There is only one swap like this in North America and maybe one of 2 or 3 worldwide. It hasnt seen the inside of a garage ever, starts up in -20C weather and gets good economy even. But shes rusty in the quarterpanels. It's like a mini NSX by sound and powerband and it doesnt even burn any oil. It cost me almost nothing to put together bc ricers don't know or care about this car or engine
>>
>>28990228
>its totally normal and okay to constantly maintain relationships with potentially dozens of people online, who live in other states and have their own lives to live, to network and track down niche components for old cars.

GR Corolla looks cool but I will never own a vehicle with less than 4 cylinders. I simply believe it's too much stress to move a 1.5 ton vehicle long term. The vehicle would have to weight like 1500lbs on the upper limit, I don't think any of these turbo 3 cylinder cars will be on the road 20 years later unless they're engine swapped.

I would've killed for a widebody proper TCR edition of the Elantra N instead of the "regular N with spoiler and bigger brakes"

kek no just build a body kit for the N that matches or is similar to the TCR car, maybe bump the engine power a bit
instead of just throwing on a spoiler and mounting it backwards
