The 5.7 wasn't the fastest or most powerful engine in the half ton category but they were long lived engines. Unfortunately Toyota now arguably has the worst half ton truck on the market, its sad to see honestly. Their new engine (that they just straight up tried to copy from Ford) has been a colossal failure and has massive reliability issues. I would buy any other brand before touching a modern Toyota truck.

I never experienced that on American/European/British cars, even ones from up north that were covered in surface rust.
