Growing up and knowing you are straight and this car was based all along. It's going to be a expensive as fuck collectors item in 15-20 years time
>>
The Multipla was always based
Ugly, but based

>It's going to be a expensive as fuck collectors item in 15-20 years time

Did you know that the value of the McLaren SLR (excluding special and limited edition models) hasn't increased much?

Not every car ,even a rare one becomes desirable among collectors.

having a 5 speed auto tragic when Chrysler themselves wanted a serious super car grade dual clutch in the ME-4-12 didn't help. if Merc allowed Chrysler to make the ME-4-12 that would've held value right alongside the Ford GT/Carrera GT.
>>
>>28991709
I mean, who would want to collect a base model when there's half a dozen special editions?
>>
A car for sex-havers.

europeans don't have sex. they aren't reproducing. only the immigrants are and they aren't driving that.
>>
>>28991735
Between the Twingo and the Multipla, Europeans were FUCKING in the 1990s and early 2000s.
>>
>>28991735
You can have sex without reproducing anon.
>>
>>28991753
not really. their boomer parents were in the 70s and 80s. but the 90s and 2000s is when incels started to crop up. no one was fucking in these cars. they were likely touching themselves in a dark alley alone in one. the average person who are fascinated by these vehicles can't have sex. and the average giga chad who did have sex wasn't driving one of these.
>>28991755
but europeans by and large don't have sex, either.
>>
>>28991763
Neither do (you).
>>
>>28991768
yea, but at least i'm not claiming my piece of shit is some kind of sex machine because i'm obsessed with it. as a rule of thumb, any car /o/ obsesses over dries up women's pussies.
>>
>>28991763
People were definitely fucking in Twingos.
>>
>>28991800
fucking their blow up dolls, maybe. the seats lay down in a lot of cars.

Honestly my dream car.

For me, it's the Renault Avantime, a similar 3-door pillarless MPV that somehow still looks like it's from the future unlike the Multipla with it's looks firmly stuck in the late '90s with it's rounded, bulbous design. The Multipla's facelift didn't exactly help it either, because it just turned it into a generic looking MPV instead of something quirky.
>>28991709
SLRs are badass, but a $15k SL55 and a few thousand in boltons + SLR transmission tune for the 722.5 gets you 80% of the way there. The others don't exactly have any cheaper equivalents with similar layouts and drivetrains.
>>
>>28991826
Kek I thought so.
>>
>>28991692
I remember going to Italy 10 years ago and seeing Multiplas everywhere. They were mostly used as taxis. Though almost all of them were the boring post facelift ones. But I did see one prefacelift one which definitely stood out.

Jeremy Clarkson loved the Multipla and old Top Gear voted it as the Car of The Year in 2000

Fucked my gf in her Twingo a few times
Didn't have the sunroof though
>>28991800
Obviously. It has been a very common car with young people for the last 30 years
>>28991815
No. Being able to arrange the seats to a flat, bed like position was pretty common for euro cars in the 60s-80s. Sure, people also had sex in them but advertising very rarely implied it

>People were definitely fucking in Twingos.
It was literally a bedroom on wheels for le sex. France actually had a replacement birthrate when the Twingo came out. People absolutely took the hint.

Unlike the 2CV that gave away exactly what was going on (plus no locks), the designers probably remembered those embarrassing moments with the gemanderie and swore their grandchildren would never have to suffer that indignity.

Renault accidentally created a national treasure and indirectly imperiled France's national security by fucking up the next generation of the sex wagon.

the SLR is a nightmare to maintain, even on supercar level
there are just better cars around for that money
>also 5 speed auto

Mercedes just doesnt play in the supercar leage
You can almost get a new lambo for what an ancient SLR costs
sure they were cool when they were new but now they are just mid
>>
>>28992498
>the SLR is a nightmare to maintain, even on supercar level

You're thinking like a poorfag who can only afford one car.

Meanwhile, such cars are bought by people who can afford to own several cars and send any of them to an expensive authorized repair shop for several months in case of a breakdown.

Many supercars are difficult to service – did you know that replacing the clutch in a Ferrari F50 requires disassembling the braking, exhaust, cooling, and electrical systems ?

Its body is an open monocopit, to which the engine and gearbox are bolted. And it is precisely the bolted-together engine and gearbox that support the rear suspension. In other words, the engine and gearbox are essentially the car's load-bearing components. In reality, nothing connects the car to the rear suspension except the gearbox. This design was intended to achieve maximum body rigidity.
>>
>>28992518
and that is kind of my point
you pay supercar money for an ancient car that wont impress by numbers
and that might also pass as a regular mercedes for non car guys
then you pay crazy money to keep it on the road

there are many better options to get
except you are a SLR diehard fan

its still just a mercedes, mercedes went out of their league because they didnt have cars on this level for decades
The last sports car on this level was the gullwing and maybe the pre war swastika mobiles 770K
>>
>>28992518
>Many supercars are difficult to service

lol unbolting the rear end makes it easy to service
>>
>putting the car seats on the ground
WOWOWOWOWWOWOW

To me Avantime looks like another quirky turn of millennium design alongside the retro stuff like New Beetle and, dare I say it, the PT Cruiser.
It is a unique and daring design, but ultimately I personally do not find it inspiring, though I recognize it's importance in the study of car design.
