Why does /o/ talk poorly of big name auto shops vs local auto shops?
>>
>>28992856
The "mechanics" employed at pep boys and similar chains are usually brown retards and/or fresh out of high-school.

I talk poorly of all auto shops. Fuck those guys.
>>
>shittalk Big Auto Shop on the internet
>Big Auto Shop is a national chain; other posters likely have experience with Big Auto Shop and add their two cents.
>shittalk Bub's Repair on the internet
>Bub's Repair has one location in Moonshiner's Grove, Alabama, and no one but the OP cares about them.

Hope that helps ;)

>go to biggest name auto center with various questions regarding exterior
>get half assed answers for all of them

I thought they'd know what they were doing.

I've found decent local shops, but there's usually at least one thing offputting about them.

Honestly I prefer going to my dealer. They know my car and don't take guesses.
>>
>>28992866
This, the big chains hire retards and the local shops rip you off.
>>
>>28992856
They're both shit tbqh
>>
>>28993257
Not all of them – I used to deliver auto parts around town; only one or two of them out of 100 were honest and cheap.
>>
>>28992856
I bought a car recently that had a glovebox full of receipts from big auto shops as well as dealers. And the previous owner just absolutely got raped.
>$4750 for front control arms, front pads/rotors/calipers, front struts, rear shocks, 4 no-name tires, and an alignment. Financed through Firestone at 33% interest
>$1100 for a catalytic converter replacement that they simply lied about doing, both cats are OEM
>$90 oil changes
>two mufflers in a year's time
>over $400 for an oil change and a battery
>over $400 for a starter
>hitting him for a cabin air filter basically every service

I went to a local one that does track cars. They had Ferraris Porsche lambo bentley in the garage. Even had this Noble. They were expensive but half the price Porsche charges. Oil change I'll do myself but all the other stuff I don't want to do will go to these guys.

This and since this is a car enthusiast board it’s quite likely that there are some mechanics that frequent it and they likely got caught up in corporate bullshit when they were younger and earlier in their careers.
>>
>>28992856
high prices, poor service, the workers are not automotive specialists and are useless even when service is quick or polite
>>
>>28993352
>only one or two of them out of 100 were honest and cheap.
How did you measure that?
>>
>>28993798
>$90 oil changes
This seems cheaper than what garages are charging nowadays?
>>
>>28993903
>since this is
*because this is
>>

Only poorfags bitch about them because only poorfags have to deal with them. Bunch of fucking cheesecake factory workers bitching about the long service in their 1 star google review, when they're only there because of a oil change special that comes with a free tire rotation.

Most people just go to the stealership or an independent shop that's actually worth it's money, a proper building with clean interiors and organized bays, instead of the gas station mechanic with dogshit all over the place.

Are they spending more money at the stealership or that luxury independent mechanic? for sure, but once again, not poorfags.

Shops that have race cars standing in the corner are the best. There's a glass place near me with a full track spec FD RX7 and they do the best work for the best price in my city.

>Bases his identity around being hewed out of money.
Very strange. By the way I’ve got a Rolex - for you, special price!
>>

Its 5 quarts of 5w30 and a filter. $90 is robbery
