can i get a new intake manifold, boss
>>
I wish I had one. They're very expensive in the 3rd world shithole I'm from.
>>

When I was 12 I loved my grandma's Grand Marquis so much I asked her if I could buy it from her. I don't need more.

Of course, wouldn't have it any other way

I can't describe just how badly I want one but can't get one in my country. We almost had the Crown Vic in the late 90s but they went for another domestic designed Ford instead.
>>

ye m8y
need one
>>
I can get a CVPI in my country for around 7000-10000€. Although with gas at over 2€ per liter driving one gets very expensive very fast.
>>
>>28994624
We can though, I have a friend who imported one, and he had two friends who also imported ones, and I know of several more kicking about.
25 year rule, so you can get a 98 to 01 model.
>>

I've owned about 15 Panthers over my lifetime. They're great cars, ever generation is good. However, I'm looking for a good donor car to swap an OM606 or VW diesel into..I have a theory that these cars can be just as fun with a fuel efficient turbo diesel.
>>
>>28993433
You can suck my Crown Dic
>>
>>28994693
Plus importing a piece of shit overrated american pigmobile would be the stupidest thing you could do out of all that
>>

Fun? A goddamn crown vic is what you think is fun? At least you have the sense to consider ditching the crude piece of shit ford motor probably got tired of helicoils
>>

I need a manual transmission and also not a dogshit modular engine
>>
>>28993433
Good ones are drying up fast. I looked at a 99 civilian one awhile ago, two owner 85k on it. dealership wanted five grand and it was rusty as hell underneath, valve cover gasket (I think) leaking, rear struts were blown, rear end leaking, and probably the rear main seal too but i don't know if that was from the existing oil leak. Too bad, the body and interior were in pretty good shape
>>
>>28994846
The 5.4 3 valves in the trucks were more likely to blow their sparkplugs. Never had that issue with any of the 4.6 2 valves. I've even put over 300k on one of them.

They're fun to me because you can break traction and whip them around. I've gotten away doing shit in crown vics with wide wheels on that most people still don't believe

People only glaze this shit because they're cop cars and taxis that litter american roads. It's a basic american piece of archaic junk that was gradually forced to become reliable (by ford standards) due to being overproduced and dumped in various agency fleets. It does not a thing better than other cars in it's class, except being oversupported
>>

the fucking state
>>

they're better than your shitty faves by far
>>

none of that explains why its overrated though, all youve done is testify they're cheap, plentiful and reliable
>>
>>28993433
Absolutely, I don't have any to begin with.
>>
>>28995140
>they're cop cars and taxis that litter american roads
they haven't been on the roads like that in almost 20 years, anon.
>It's a basic american piece of archaic junk
it's the LAST OF THE SOLID-FRAME V8 INTERCEPTORS you HEATHEN.
>gradually forced to become reliable
it was MORE reliable in the past, stuff like the shitty plastic intakes or blow-your-own PCMs came later.
>overproduced and dumped in various agency fleets.
okay you don't know how production works, got it
> It does not a thing better than other cars in it's class,
it's simple, reliable, and sensible, and the only competitor in its class was the b-body caprice, which was better on paper but had 1990s GM build quality control in practice (plus corporate that was DYING to kill off anything RWD, because GM)
>except being oversupported
even this is wrong, it's undersupported as hell. OEM parts for most anything other than spark plugs and window motors don't fucking exist anymore. even the infamous intake manifold no longer exists as new old stock, ford spun up production again but it isn't the same model, it's basically the Dorman one with FOMOCO stamped on the side, totally different runners and you're looking at a 15hp loss in a car that's already underpowered to start with. and it's a mustang part too. how the FUCK DOES FORD STOP MAKING A V8 MUSTANG PART, AND HOW ARE MORE PEOPLE NOT IRATE OVER THIS
>>
>>28995451
>they haven't been on the roads like that in almost 20 years,

More like 10 years. They were still real common in 2016.
>>
>>28995425
being overproduced isnt a merit

holy shit you bitch cry harder in no world is a ford v8 "unsupported" fuck you
>>
>>28994696
>2001 was 25 years ago
I can't believe we're at that point. How much total including import and where did they get them from? I have no idea who to trust with vehicle importing, a lot of sites selling cars and doing the import shit seem like total scams.
>>
>>28995741
If you do it yourself you should get change from $20k.
Expect about $5k for the car, $10k for shipping/transport/customs/taxes/bullshit/etc
They just find them on ebay, marketplace, etc.
Finding a decent one over 25 years old is the hard part, plenty of good 2010-ish models floating around, but that's no good for us.

There's a film car guy in NSW who brings over a few every now and then and sells them for like $25k a piece, so he's obviously making several grand a pop, but the trade off is you don't have to deal with any of the bullshit, just show up with a trailer and there you go. Still need to compliance and register, but that's pretty straight forward. Although the quality of his cars could be questioned. I think he's just grabbing whatever clean-ish looking cars he can find, so you could still end up needing to fork out for major mechanical work.
>>
>>28995568
>being overproduced isnt a merit

Yes it is. Its makes parts availability easier and cheaper and last for longer after the car leave's production.
>>
>>28995797

Even in Oz dollarydoos, that's fucked yo.

Able to recommend any specific places that do it all? From buying all the way to getting it to my door or at least to a depot in a major city? I can see plenty for sale at least but I'd like to just pick a place and have them do the whole thing since I know the process is hell for just one guy.
>Finding a decent one over 25 years old is the hard part, plenty of good 2010-ish models floating around, but that's no good for us.
I'm cool with a shittier one desu, I see a lot of old Polce Interceptor models in varying condition for about $3k AUD and I wouldn't mind something that's just a little roughed up. I'd probably teardown the whole backseat and super clean that area though, one thing I know about old cop cars is people piss and vomit in them all the time.
>There's a film car guy in NSW who brings over a few every now and then and sells them for like $25k a piece
My total budget including car would probably be more like 10k. I'd even import one of the early 90s models honestly since I like those too. I don't plan on it being a show car or anything like that, I'd be pretty much daily driving this thing to work.

These don't really exist anymore here and even if they were more plentiful I still really hate sedans. A Tahoe or Suburban is just as if not more comfy and they're 500x more practical.

I don't have any experience with importers, so can't really recommend any.

Yeah you can get a cheap shitty one, but consider you're spending more on the import costs than the car, so might as well get a good one.

Your best bet is to bookmark searches on local ebay/marketplace/gumtree etc, and check every couple of days for cheap-ish ones to show up already in the country. I've been doing this for probably a decade at this point. But with the going price being $20k+ plus, you're not really going to find a cheap one anymore. There were a couple of older (aero body) ones that were floating around under $10k, but they were real fucking heaps.

10+ years ago I could have bought a pair of them, ex-film use for like $5k, one was decent (and a P71) and one was a parts car. The parts get ended up getting wrecked in the movie "2:22" years later, but it's still kicking around as a cut up wreck for parts.

For $10k your best bet to get into American(ish) cop cars would be to get a normal VE Caprice, and do a US undercover style build. So all white, black rims, Chev badges, maybe a nudge bar and a spotlight if your budget allows.

I'd been considering that for a while, but seeing this thread and poking around a little had me find some really cheap ex-cop cars for only a few grand, so I'd really like to get one of those instead. I'd always wanted a Crown Vic and I got to ride in a few Crow Vic taxis when I visited NYC, and some of those were in rough shape and I still didn't care.
>>
>>28993433
Crown vics are cool especially the v8 ones, but gas is expensive here and they were mostly fleet vehicles so they are all automatics. I heard some guys swap 5 speed tremec trannies into them, so they can be amazing.
>t. europoor
>>
>>28995827
I guess just search around for importers, maybe join some car club facebooks/forums and see who people there used to find a reputable/cheap-ish one.
But keep in mind customs can fuck you over at any moment and you could be out extra thousands for a bunch of bullshit if they decide it needs to be fumigated, or they find a twig in the engine bay, or think there could be asbestos in it, etc.
