So for about 2 - 3 years now, my family and I have been daily driving a pretty beat up 2006 Altima from Cali. My Dad and I changed a couple of things in the car such as a new Throttle Body, new sensors, and even some light engine upgrades such as better spark plugs. My parents, my mom specifically, wants to get a "new" car and I'm planning on keeping the Altima for the next decade until I save up for a "new" car.I like the Altima but I know the Nissan brand is notorious for being a nightmare for many mechanics and auto enthusiasts for using cheap and unreliable parts, especially the CVT transmissions. What should I expect in the long term with the 2006 Altima? What should I do now to prevent such issues? Currently live in the NYC area.
>>28993753The 06 Altima doesn't have a cvt. I actually traded in a Maxima for a newer Infiniti just because they seem to have put all their reliable parts in their luxury line
>>28993753That gen of Altima is like the last reliable generation before CVTs took over everything.
Lol how the fuck is a Nissan unreliable kek
>>28993783are you the retarded CVT apologist anon that thinks nu-nissan CVT dogshit is actually good just because it's Japanese?
>>28993765>>28993781Ok, that's good. I was worried that my car was either the last model L31 or first L32 since the L32 started with the CVTs.I know for some cars, they fake the RPM gauge to seem like its changing gears when in actuality, there is nothing happening. Other than that, what should I look out for in the long term or I'm ok?
>>28993802Just keep up on basic fluids and you should be good to go. How many miles are on it currently though?
>>28993825Well over 600K miles since I travel from work and back and the previous owner use to live in a more rural area in Cali. When they moved to NY, they brought the car with them.
>>28993904impressivepost odometer
>>28993753>NYC>AltimaMup bix nood mubbuh dabba doo bap nugguh
>>28993783>has never had to change the valve body on a Sentra
>>28993904600k?? That's badass!
>>28993957>bix noodJust stop already. Why permit an entire vehicle lineup to be relegated "OFF LIMITS" to non-Blacks...
>>28993957
>>28993957black people drive bmws though and sometimes vq nissans a 2006 altima is a rustbucket by now
>>28993904as much as people like to shit on cvts this just shows that most of the problems more than likely stemmed from the fact that the owners were just too busy with their theoretical degrees in physics
>>28994182i had a suzuki with a jatco cvt and it died just because i used it in sport mode
>>28994186did you have it from new?
>>28994195>So for about 2 - 3 years now...Motherfucker, it's LITERALLY the first part of the first sentence of his post. I wish I was one of the cool kids that could come up with an interesting curse so you wouldn't understand that, either!
>>28994206did you even read the post i was replying to?
>>28994182>never change transmission fluid>speed to red lights and brake hard>stomp on the pedal as soon as it turns green>throw it into park when still moving"wtf this transmission sucks"
>>28993753>CaliNo one calls it that apart from people of crime
>>28994182If you actually read the chain you were replying to, you'd see that his Altima is the last WITHOUT a CVT. I owned a Sentra since new where the transmission blew out on the highway, and my girlfriend owned a Rogue that overheated the tranny oil on any drive over 40 minutes. I'm very particular about my cars and those were both maintained by the book and driven calmly. The Jatco transmissions were well and truly dogshit.
>>28994397well yeah but in my second reply i was asking about the jatco in the suzuki
