I live in the UK and am looking to get my first carshould I get a shitbox for relatively cheap or something newer on finance etc? I have a well paying job (over £2k take home a month)what other things should I know about insurance, tax etc?
get a manual Honda fit.>anything else I should know you're completely fucking fucked m8. I'm sorry, the only thing I can do is help you make fun of yourselves.
For your first car get a small shitbox especially as a bong. Insurance will decimate you unless you are over 25. If you're young, you want a shitbox as you will bump it, you will scrape it as you and your mates do dumb shit in it for banter.
Never finance a car. It's not worth it apart from in very specific instances and you aren't in that instance, because you're a new driver. Finance is retardedPeople are going to give you all sorts of mad advice on this but the best thing to do is buy a car with a year MOT on it from a local dealer. Google the dealer and find them on Companies House. If the name of the owner or anyone involved is anything other than British don't buy it. Never, ever buy a car from a minority even if you are also a minority >what car should I get any of them really as long as you're spending less than £2500>why £2500because spending any more than that on a first car is pointless because you are going to then want a different car>insuranceget creative with it. don't flat out lie but mess about with the questions and see what it says>taxpay it yearly no point in giving the government more money, even if it is a little bit>why shouldn't I buy a car privatelyBecause it's a horrible experience and most of the "private" sellers and buyers are dealers that nefariously don't want to state themselves as such for a particular car >but what car should I buyFord Mondeo or Focus, most Toyota saloons, Skoda Octavia, VW Passat, those Nissans that taxi drivers like, Vauxhall Vectra or Insignia>but my mum said t-Don't listen to your mum>but those are for older people I can't stress enough - buy the largest car you can with the money you have
>>28994684Absolutely get a shitbox for cheap, as the chances of you getting into a ding in the first year of driving are fucking astronomical; there's a reason new driver's insurance is so expensive. I bought pic rel, a Ford Ka for £500 in 2017, and it served me well. If you find a few cars you're interested in, check what insurance category they're in (1 to 50, 1 being cheapest) and it'll give you a rough idea as to what'll be the cheapest to insure. Don't automatically assume that cars with tiny engines will be cheapest, insurance companies care more about accident rates than engine size and such. As an example, they quoted me £10,000 for a Chevy Matiz, but only £3,000 for a 1965 Daimler V8. If the car has parking sensors, add it into the modifications section regardless of whether or not it's factory - it'll make your insurance marginally cheaper. something else that helps bring insurance quotes down is to ask for cover to start 27 days from whenever you're quoting.Good luck, and if you sit in the middle lane on the Motorway, I will skull fuck you and cum inside your eye socket.
