Give me a break, I had the misfortune of living there for 20-odd years; it was never perfect, but I grew up watching my neighbourhood go from a relatively typical looking white-British estate to whatever the fuck mess it is now, and it's only getting worse. Even the whites in that area are either Polish or Romanian, and I'd rarely hear conversations in English when out shopping or whatever. Working in the area meant that we came into contact with a few interesting characters that sit near the top of the chain, and it really doesn't take long much conversation with them to realise just how fucked things are. Most of the houses are being bought up sand niggers to use as sort of like a halfway house for people being trafficked into the country, and the few that aren't are used by the local councils to house Somalis and whatever other scum are being flown in. It's gotten *significantly* worse in the last 5 or so years, so we fucking bailed out to the country. Honestly, I could go on, but just know that it's quickly spreading out from Slough, and with the way things are going, it's not likely to stop anytime soon. Not unless there's a significant public uprising, anyway.

I love the advancements in catalyst tech in the past 20 years. I think they are down to ~1hp loss on our cars which is essentially a rounding error. Not a fan of the stinky exhaust either.
>>
Is the NB truly better than the NA? I've been out of the game for awhile and I can't decide what to buy.
>>
>>29002805
It's just a mildly-updated NA, think of it as a facelift+. I went from NA8 to NB1 (non-vvt) and it's got more power and is noticeably quicker, though they have different diff ratios so it's hard to compare apples to apples. NAs are mid-upper 8s 0-60, NBs are mid-upper 7s.
The chassis feels tighter, maybe. It's easy to hear the creaking of the top flexing when cornering and perceiving it as a loose chassis when it is not.
OBD-II is nice to have as long as we aren't all forced to put on those insurance trackers to our old cars.
They're basically the same car. NAs are usually more expensive because pop ups and you can get better deals on NBs with lower miles.

Had NA6, NA8 and NB1
>NA6
1.6 loves to rev, it just feels right in this car
Poopy diff, the lsd sucks too
Feels light and very little bracing, so it rattles the most imo
Great exhaust note
Classic NA, can't describe
>NA8 (current car)
1.8 in NA feels worse than 1.6, feels like a slight afterthought
Less revvy
Exhaust note is meh, still not bad
Torsen is wonderful
Slightly worse dashboard, but not enough for anyone to care
More bracing, slightly more stiff if you've driven both
Same styling obviously
Some have obd2 but not 94-95
>NB1
My favorite 1.8 motor, they really reworked the head and exhaust, sounds great maybe even more refined than NA6
Interior is absolutely terrible, the door cards stick out further into your legs, the center console has a plastic hinge that breaks, bad upholstery fabric list goes on. Oh and this is gonna sound autistic as fuck but the carpet is way worse in the NB.
Slightly more planted and turns in better. Suspension allegedly has maybe more travel I think
Has nice hips in the rear, front is kinda dodge viper or suzuki cappuccino, not bad but it's never going to be an iconic NA look
>>
i went to pick up a new car battery for someone and on the way back i saw an ND, an NA, and then a NC from my NB
also a classic mini
>>
>>29002858
>this is gonna sound autistic as fuck
NA carpet was good I know what you mean. I used to put my right hand on the transmission tunnel carpet when cruise control was on and make believe I was holding on to a horse's neck. Because the car was pulling itself along. Like a horse. And that's before I ever heard the term Jinba Ittai.

One of a Miata's plusses is how smol it is. Why would you add several inches to to the width?

Also, taking pictures of a car with the tank less than full just says "lazy" to me. It's a small thing, but a full tank to me exudes "completeness," and I'd fill the tank on any car I sold on the chance that the buyer's monkey brain added value in excess of the cost.

I watched it go through at auction before it popped up on eBay, and it sold for £2,500. Not sure if that includes commission, though. Standard NA's in good nick start around that and go up to £4,500 depending on spec, and a 3.9/4.0 long block can be had for just shy of £2,000, so you *might* be able to make it cheaper than what the dealer is trying to sell it for, and do a better job of it depending how good/bad the swap has been done.

I agree about not finding a V8 TVR for less than 7k, though, all the ones around that price are V6's.

It's because of the odd dip in the rear of the cabin, and the very short rear window that results from it. If you do what they did with the MGB, namely raise the roofline slightly and have a convex arch all the way to the rear, it somewhat solves the odd proportions.

Might just be the camera angle but it doesn't look too bad/too different than an NB engine bay from what I can tell. Lots of big spaces in some parts
>>
>>29006740
How easy/difficult do you find work in the bay compared to other cars?
I replaced a battery on a 2020 Ford Focus the other day and had to remove stuff from the bay just to lift the old battery out. I've not had to remove anything to get access to something else in my NB.
>>
>>29006743
I've had the car since late April and so far in the engine bay, I've swapped the battery and that was easy, no fiddling with other parts, about 5 minutes. I had to change a power steering hose and that was a bit more steps. Had to remove the intake hoses and loosen the throttle body to get at it. I could've removed the entire power steering pump if needed in an extra minute. Got to it in about 10 minutes.

You'll find in a lot of cars that the big bulky boxes and hoses related to the intake get in the way of a lot of jobs but that's trivial.

I think the hardest thing to actually get to is the starter on this car, it's in a tricky position under the car and some NCs have the oil cooler in the way.

Not to go on but the 2006 Passat 2.0T I had was the biggest bitch to work on. It was easier for me to remove the bumper to get at things. Every part had a different measurement or screw/bolt type and size. Absolute nightmare. Had to go buy specific bits (12 point I think) just for that car. Had to remove all the plastic covers/intake every time. You should see what it looks like under the plastic

iirc, my '96 VR Limited with the factory 16-bit ECU redlines around the same - not sure if that rings true for earlier cars with the 8-bit ECUs.
>>
>>29007502
Wasn't aware of the ECU differences that's interesting. Mine is a 95M. Did they update when they swapped to OBD2?
>>
>>29007511
I would think that's a solid bet, thought I don't know for sure. Easiest way to tell what ECU you have is to check how many plugs go into it. 2 plug is 8-bit, 3 plug, as per the photo, is 16-bit.
>>
>>29007511
I can't say for NA but I do know for a fact NB ECUs are tuned differently between JDM and USDM here. The US cars cutoff at 7200 while JDM ones redline at 7500. There are no internal differences between the engines themselves, they just raised the redline because the Japanese don't keep their cars on the road as long as US buyers do (see all the 50k mile takeout engines for sale, and their huge export market to other RHD countries with a side business in selling 15 year old cool shit to Canada and Australia, and 25 year old cool shit to the US) so the increased wear isn't a big deal to them.

Sad.
Besides, the only legitimate complain one can have about the RF is that Mazda turned a spider into a targa without giving it the extra internal volume of a coupé. I wonder why they didn't do a hardtop like in the NC and went with this abomination instead.

RIP. I know where there's an MGB that's been abandoned in a garage for decades, and we're pretty sure the owner (who had no family) has been dead for a couple of years now. We also discovered that my dad's Morris Minor keys fit the lock on the garage, so we're toying with the idea of just going and recovering it before the garage gets sold... Decisions, decisions...

a little fab9 tune does wonders to close the gap, throttle response is better too. tranny is a roll of the dice, people have done FI on stock transmissions and had no problems, others have blow them with regular stock driving. fortunately ND trannies are indeed cheap and you can always buy an NC tranny w/ an adapter plate instead tho the extra weight makes it a better candidate if you're going FI to compensate for it somewhat
>>
>>29011375
the so called blind spot in RF is still smaller than in any 'standard' car you can buy in 2026, also it's only on the right side and it's so small it can barely fit a motorcycle. literally a non-issue

yeah, so 20mph became the new default speed for A roads, however a lot of them were reverted and most main roads were left at 30mph.
even where it is 20mph, very few people actually follow that and speed enforcement in wales is non-existent.
you'll get a mobile camera van parking in the same places at rush hour and the odd static camera meant to slow you down in accident hotspots (waze will alert you to both) but outside of the M4 and A470 you can more or less go as fast as you like.

Hello anons.
I don't need a car so currently only having a motorcycle, but i kinda get the itch for the mx-5 and i see i can find some of the "less desirable" ones for around the price of my cheap motorcycle. i really love the NB but at the same price of rust free nbs i can find some NCs and i assume those are less prone to problems simply because of age, correct? i don't exactly care for horsepower so i think i'd be fine even with the cheaper 1.6 models but what i'm worried is getting fucked by problems for a car that i'd rarely use and i bought just to scratch and itch.
>>
>>29016873
MX5s dont have problems.
>>
>>29016873
Buy whatever Miata you can find that has the least rust, other than that you can't go wrong with any of them.
>>
does anyone not drive their miata in the summer? it's too much sun with the top down and it feels like why bother if the top is up all the time.
>>
>>29016977
That’s why the rf Miata majorly outsells the soft top despite being considerably more expensive and the NC PRHT fetches a premium price over its soft top version. Top down is great 30% of the time but the other 70% it’s either too hot, too much sun exposure, too cold, or too loud. It’s also why OEM hardtops are so valuable for the older models.
>>
>>29016991
Don't forget RF stands for Rear Fakewindow
>>
>>29016873
What the others said - Rust is the only significant concern, otherwise it's a "pick your poison" kind of deal. NA, NB, NC, ND, there's not a bad one in the bunch, it's just personal preference.

I ordered some 3/8 fuel line holders from Etsy and they guys sent me 2 sets. One just like the OEM but to hole 3/8 lines, and another like OEM but with a screw in system and not a twist lock. Pretty cool.

Soon the ITBs will be bolted on the last time, and I just have the Wideband to plug into the Megasquirt and *SHOULD* be good to start...

Just a quick question for you anons:
I was looking at this one that has been recently put on sale and it's listed as an impulse, but this one has a blue soft top and leathers. you can see a section is still camel color so i assume this had all the internals swapped (and from the photos they are in pristine condition) but would something like this be some sort of red flag? would an older 2000 nb-1 model with a list of a lot of work done (including rust treatment and prevention) be worth almost 2k€ more for the ease of mind or rust really is the only bad thing that could have happend unless the car has been mistreated in it's long almost 25 years?
at which point it's worth to "gamble" on how much rust there actually is on the car? because i also have another listing of a very nice green one that "needs some rust work and some other maintenance" but has perfect exterior and interior and is being sold because "the car is not as sporty as expected and i want something more powerful so i'm not investing more money in it"
>>
>>29017146
If you mean the lighter section of top you can see in that photo, all the original tops discolor tan/purple like that on the headliner part with age, it's just old. The red flag I see with that one is the door paint not matching the rear quarter panel, I would assume it's been in an accident on that side.

i must admit i didn't notice that color thing.

I'm trying to estimate if it's something worth even going to take a look at because it's quite far but the price is kinda perfect
>>
>>29017172
The blue interior is a 2003 only Shinsen edition thing, at least in the US. I know EU/UK got different special editions than we did.

Dunno i'm having hard time finding info about it but i really like it
>>29017196
is that by default a bad thing? i understand wanting a car with no damage and in pristine conditions but could a repair give other problems to a point where that could be a dealbreaker already?
Sorry i'm not trying to justify i'm really trying to learn how to spot where it could be a good deal and seriously consider getting one

New fuel line hangers are done. 6an feed and return with single brake line. Painted the hangers with self etching primer and then rubberized undercoating. Now just have to run the lines to the bay and wire in the power and signal for the flex sensor.

What do you guys think about this buy? Clear coat is rough and headlights need some work to clean up but according to the seller there is no rust and everything mechanically works perfect. It’s cheap enough that I could get it wrapped to cover up the faded clear coat.
>>
>>29018091
Not that anon, but I know how you feel. I just put seat warmers in my NB to stretch out the top down season. When I go to get the seats reupholstered, there is a heating and cooling kit that katskinz offers that works for our cars.

Nope. And if the clear coat is peeling then it was either left outside in the sun or they brought it through a touch car wash every day.

Also, vinyl isn't the be-all end-all when it comes to bad paint. You will still need to feather the bad clear coat, or else it will show. Vinyl will show everything just like a poorly prepped paint job will.

I would check the Carfax carefully if we're talking the 16k car. That being said, the price isn't something I've never seen before. Last year I saw a 60k car for 14500 that someone beat me to by a couple of hours. I do see 60-80k cars for 17-18k sometimes too. The deals are out there so seeing one 1k less than normal isn't too crazy but definitely have to do your due diligence

here's the vehicle history. if someone who's smarter than i am wants to look at it and interoperate what its' really saying about he car i would appreciate it. it seems to have changed hands quite a few times and not stayed long with any one owner. not sure if that's because it's been a problem car or if it's just because some people buy a miata and decide it's not for them and sell it.

The first 2 owners just seem like almost regret but then the 2nd and 3rd owner keep it for a long time, 10 years total. Then followed by 2 sales within a month which is a little weird. You can see failed emission and safety in 2026 not sure what texas checks for but it could be something simple like a check engine light for anything and it'll fail.

I'd ask the owner if he could explain the history and see if the timeline adds up. Don't let him know you know this much, just ask how long he's had had it/ if he knew the previous owner. Could even be a title error where they had to update the title

Add the car to Carfax garage and you'll see some more details of the services done, I can see it was serviced Feb 24 2026 last at a dealer. Spark plugs changed, oil changed, coolant flush.

End of the day, the only suspicious thing I'm seeing is the multiple title updates in 2 months time at the end. I'd ask him after he tells you the ownership history
>>
>>29019582
yes the title change a month apart is a bit strange but my own car right now will show the same thing. I wanted to buy my current car but couldn't get approved for the loan since i already had a loan on a car i was dailying. i couldn't sell my current car before having the new one to drive to work. my solution was to have my mother buy the new car in cash and i drove it for a couple weeks while i got the other car sold at which point i could get a new loan and bought it from her. weird situation but it can happen.

nta, but as someone who had moved hundreds of miles with a cat, it depends on the cat itself. Some cats are fine, especially if they've been in and around cars semi-frequently, but others are deftly afraid. Some will freak the fuck out and try to run, some will just hunker down and seek comfort from you, as mine did. Mine got used to things about halfway through the journey, but it was touch and go at the start. See how they react at first, and if they're not absolutely petrified you could maybe try bringing them in the car more and more often to get them used to it.
>>
>>29021165
Not my cat. Some stupid fuck in the neighborhood leaves that cat free to roam for days at a time, which is very dangerous since that cat has zero preservation instinct. Fun story: the first time I saw that cat he trapped himself inside our house; we went through a lengthy process to find the owner, who then threatened us to give the cat back immediately once found, but without providing proof of ownership; after he gave us the chip code we arranged for the handover, and the only thing thing he told us then was how much he paid for that breed and not a single thank for looking after the cat. Jesus Christ it's been years and I'm still mad at that gargantuan asshole. I love that cat tho.

My only experience with animals in the Fiata was my father's medium sized dog. That dog refused to stay in the passenger footwell and sat on the passenger seat instead, blocking the view completely to that side. It was very stressful and I do not recommend it: the Miata doesn't have enough space for an animal that isn't perfectly behaved and relaxed. Basically you need to slowly familiarize the animal to the car before doing any travel.
