I want Forged aluminum wheels for my ride, this is a street machine first.
However I see a magnesium front wheel for a pretty solid price. Alu or mags? I'm leaning alu for long term ruggedness.

>>
>>28998556
Never really knew how much of a difference tires made until my "recommended" sport tires were replaced with touring spec dunlop rubber because pirellis were out of stock. Fuck me they feel glassy and have no feedback in corners, it's taking a leap of faith to scrub the chicken strips rather than just lean n rip. Never again.
>>
>>28998609
I've only had road 6 and dunlops and ive had neither of them do what you're describing. Sounds like typical new tire problems (there's a layer of shit I don't remember the name of on new tires for storage and shipping that must be worn off before the tire truly unlocks its potential so to speak

You know those EV fires? They are hard to put out because the batteries have lots of magnesium in them. Think about that.
>>
>>28998639
You've never tried to burn structural magnesium before, have you? It's an alloy. You can light a shaving (with an o/a torch) but alloy metals like Calcium in the mix make it effectively fireproof.

Has anybody rented a bike through Eagle Rider before? Are there any add-ons that are actually worth it like coverage/waivers? I'm planning a group ride for ~September that starts/ends in different cities and I'm probably the only one that currently owns a bike. Not totally against shipping my own bike out but it might be simpler if we all meet/pick up our ride at the same location.
>>
Anon I have a test tomorrow, wish me luck. If everything goes fine I'll stop being nobike here...
>>
>>28998639
Sounds hot to me

I'm mainly curious about how much more care mag wheels need over alu. Mags are lighter but apparently don't hold up as great so I'm leaning alu

hello yall I've got a question since my local Harley place refuses to fuck with this old bike. Starting the bike was rough and the engine couldn't stay going for more than a minute without blipping the throttle at rest, and then riding it the throttle was laggy taking a second to open up, but eventually it got better while riding it. Then I tried to start it up to drive home from where I was and it wouldn't start. It was trying, the engine was cranking but veerrry slow and not quick enough to start. Then the starter just started clicking. I tested the battery and it's completely fine. Headlight signals and odometer lights are all on. It just won't fucking start. Any idea what the problem could be? I asked a mechanic to diagnose it with just a short description and he said it could be either the stator or regulator rectifier (maybe both I guess), I have no idea I'm not a mechanic. But I'm willing to try and fix it if its even possible to find the parts for this old ass Buell Blast. Thoughts?
>>
>>28998680
If your headlight is dim and gets brighter when you rev it, then something is wrong with the charging system.

If this is not the case, then it could very well be your fuel pressure regulator.
If there's still issues, then maybe it's a bad spark plug(s) and/or spark plug wires
I would like you to know, I know fuck all about Buell so take this shit with a grain of salt.
Start with checking your headlight dimness, then if that's not it check your spark, if that's good swap the fuel pressure regulator (unless it's super easy to access then just swap it anyway because chances are it never got done and it's tired b0ss)
>>
>>28998684
You can check your FPR easy too, just pop off the lil vacuum line that feeds to it and see if fuel drips out. If it does, then congrats you found your problem.

>>28998658

>>28998680
Dirty carb, from not riding it enough.
Once you get it running again, and you've fully charged the battery, use a voltmeter to check that you have at least 14.5 V at the battery when it's running above 1,500 RPM. 13.5 is OK for old style flooded batts, 14.5 for AGM and sealed, enough for Lithium but 14.7 is better.

>>
>>28998684

>>28998696
It could be the carb, I've heard a dirty one makes the bike sound weak when its idle right

Oh dude the same thing happened with my first - literally a $200 set of tires off amazon and a full can of seafoam in the tank and it was PERFECT. The carb probably doesn’t need adjusting, prolly just needs seafoam. Try it, rev the shit out of it, and post back here in a few days amazed and the brand-new feeling bike.
Seafoam is the only snake oil that works

Thanks anon, here’s what it looked like when I got it. Immediately I ripped it apart, cleaned and synced the carbs, checked compression (perfect and within all specs) gave it an oil change (which was a bitch to do compared to my thumper) and got the rear spring set right. Former owner had dropped it in his driveway after setting the shock to the lowest position possible for some reason and I’ve been slowly rescuing it
Pic related is before any work to it on my end. Poor girl was hurtin but had a great frame and stronk i4 with (allegedly) around 97 horsepower.

okay how are you supposed to use these fucking stupid things?
first of all, 5 gallons is heavy as fuck. also it just barely trickle out of the hose. i tried to unscrew the vent cap to fix the suction problem and it's like two inches above the main cap, so you have to keep the can VERY steady otherwise gasoline pours out the vent hole.
so i'm standing there for like 5 minutes slow-dripping gasoline into the bike while my back and arms scream at me.
this shit is retarded.the design is retarded. put the fucking vent on the handle opposite the cap, like on a normal gas can
>>

People have done that for a century.
Backpacks kind of suck for long stretches of riding, but you don't have to blow $500 on luggage.
There's a good middle ground that's cheap sidebags, tankbag, and some sort of mounting solution for the rear seat.

Best solution is milkcrate+bungee net.

Are they good? I don't know much about the bike brand but isnt maintenance expensive?

Also I'm asking about older used bikes, the new ones are good for gas mileage, but since they still new the used prices are not that different compared to buying it brand new.
For example I can find an beaten up Hornet from the 90s for around 1500€, which is not that bad for a first bike but the gas consumption is too high.

Nta but it's a massive difference, mt07 is starter hooligan bike, mt09 and 10 are proper hooligan bikes. Mt07 is fun but 09 is a complete different beast. If you gonna get '15 series be prepared to invest into aftermarket suspension..

"A "hooligan bike" is a motorcycle built for fun, agility, and aggressive, playful riding. They typically feature lightweight, upright ergonomics, and high-torque engines. These bikes are designed for carving through tight streets, popping wheelies, and cornering aggressively"

>>
>>28999590
matter of perception imo. Posers will get whatever bike is popular if they can afford it and they'll ride around town and park it infront of clubs/bars. Proper riders will try to gtfo as soon as possible out of town to their spot/route where it's lots of corners/curvies ie. you will hardly seek validation or be attention seeking if your idea of a ride is to improve your riding skill and just be there in that moment and enjoy yourself. Tho that's just my opinion.

>If your headlight is dim and gets brighter when you rev it, then something is wrong with the charging system.

Mine has always done that when there was nothing wrong with charging. Headlight is on AC circuit direct to stator. No engine, light goes off.

I think this is normal in older and simpler bikes.
>>
>>28999578
The only bike designed for wheelies are trials bikes. Manufacturers don't have that in mind when designing a bike.

>>
>>28999621
Obviously it's not in manufacturers mind or selling niche but point being MT is a wheelie monster, always was. Out of box, with no suspension or rear tyre psi tinkering you can pop wheelies "easily" on mt07.

wrong little baby, lower MT means bigger engine and more power

>>
>>28999632
I have done hundreds of miles in that state. I don't get why it would be a problem. The more the engine revs the more current, the brighter the lamp. AC also goes into the rectifier to make DC for the battery, starter and other lights. But no electricty come back from DC to the AC circuit so it necessarily gets brighter or dimmer according to the revs.

I suppose I could move the headlight to the DC circuit but would be pointless IMO.

If I had to make a blind guess without even looking at your bike. It's most likely the case that your stator has only a couple elements burnt out (top side that isn't always submerged in oil probably)

Pop off your stator cover. If the top spools look burnt as fuck then you found your problem
>>

Tbf i've also seen your issue (and some other problems) be fixed with replacing relay assembly tho on a buddies bike so god knows if that is THE fix. Electrical gremlins are a bitch. There is a bit of evidence for that too. This is a mid-90s Italian bike and it has had electrical problem after problem. Just a few weeks ago the brake light wire turned out to be attached to nothing and rubbed against the exhaust manifold, burning through. I started fixing it but following the wire I found a horrid mess underneath, all lose, where the rear brake was incomprehensibly connected. I ended up removing everything and recabling (see pic before I plugged it in, taped and cable-tied)

So I will probable have to replace every wire and connection it has. I am resigned to it. Lots of people are uncomfortable with voltages and amps but I like it and own a multimeter.

>real bikers

If you do not take every opportunity to ride anything including buy not limited to 25cc to 2000cc you are not about riding.

Some of the best rides I've had have been on smaller displacement motorcycles and even scoots.

Riding is about Riding. Not about limiting freedom into brackets to fit your system.

That's what government does and government is antithetical to freedom. Licenses, taxes, emissions. Fuck all that.

Just ride.
>>
>>28999710
There's nothing wrong with spade connectors like that, just put a bit of shrink wrap over them and you're good
>>
>>28999717
Don't. Even with shrink wrap. Just solder it. You'll save yourself some headache. Take it from me.
>>
>>28999721
Soldering is none the better than a crimped connector, on the other hand soldering is not recommended for "high vibration" situations which is like 90% of a motorcycle.
Soldering is only good for connecting to a surface of some sort
>>
>>28999716
>If you do not take every opportunity to ride anything including buy not limited to 25cc to 2000cc you are not about riding
faggot shit
riding is literally only about posting yourself on instagram lane splitting on the highway on an S1000RR you bought with less than a year of riding experience and never, ever going to a track day or on a singletrack trail. anything other than that is for pussy vagina FUPAchodes
>>
>>28999725
If your solder falls off from vibration then you suck at it.

The totem pole of connections are
#1 soldering
#2 crimped connector
#3 spade connectors
Meme tier: wire nuts

Solder that connection. Do not use a spade connector. If you do it anyway then the second you have electrical issues again go look at the spade connectors first. I'd bet they'll be corroded. I speak from experience

If your spades corrode then you're doing it wrong. There's a reason OEM uses either spade connectors or some other form of connectors instead of soldering wires together.
Soldering is only for PCBs.
>>
>>28999776
i did it on a new sv650 and i heard there was another driving school nearby that used a bmw f800r, i guess as long as it's a very linear twin having a bit more torque helps in these cases and hondas are smooth and easy afaik, as long as you don't twist the throttle like a retard it should be fine (and if you are getting the full A you probably shouldn't be)
>>
>>28999776
When I got my licence I spent 20 minutes on a 125 then got on a Z650. Just don't rip the throttle open bro.
>>
>>28999792

OEM never uses spade connectors on charging systems you can look at as many of them as you want and you won't find any that does (besides maybe a cheap Chinese chinesium POS)

I've had chance to try Z650 that has the same engine and it was pretty great around town. Thus p-twins make sense to me to get small and light bikes. But I realized that something like Z650 or MT07 is not for me as I get on the highway quite often and getting pushed around by strong winds easily is kind of lame. Them running out of breath at high RPM is not a dealbreaker however as I like calmer cruising too, I see a problem though having that amount of power on a heavier bike with fairings and baggage.

On the other hand, I learnt to ride on a ZX9R and it was rock solid at decent speeds. Also my dad used to have a similar ZZR600 and it was a cool bike as well. So that's where my fondness towards older kawis comes from, they're raw in the right kind of way.

and i've been doing a lot of exploring these past few months. it's been really fun to scout shit on the map and then go there in person and find a way in. plus there's a giddy feeling about "breaking the rules".

honestly some of the most fun i've had on a bike. all the time when driving i'm looking out for new places to explore.

>Also i need a trugg with trailer hitch attachement, i already have the mount for it too
you don't strictly need a truck. i bet you could mount a hitch on your car. a light weight trailer might be like 200-300 pounds, plus a 300-400 pound bike. you can tow that with almost any vehicle. that's literally two big fat fucks in the back seat.

I dont have a hitch attachemrny on mine
Since when do you know whats going on inside my timelines?
Dont you have your own timelines?
Integration of the timelines doesnt real, thats why when texas anon who was formerly BROS, adppted the dog, the shoomer bunkbeds experience timeline within his texas garage also disintegrated
We tried this working theory: the flake test, frens arent accessible within Shoomer timelines

Unless you have the means to weld me on a tow hitch id just be better off geting a pickup trug or vanlife

In a hypothetical EMP/nuclear winter scenario, would it be better to have-
A.) Ural
B.) Ural with a diesel engine swap
C.) Some sort or 2 stroke

Yes, a bit over powered. Get a CB300R or a CB500R.
>>
>>29000229
No 2 smoke because they need top end rebuilds. I'd get a DRZ400(new), or DR650 or Himi or a KLR650.

No shitty urals. I'd like a bimmer, but I think a lighter and easier to manage ADV will be more useful.

Delusional. Shitty Suzukis never fail. It's all in your head.

If all else fails, I can pull a nobike shoomer.

God damn I love this bike. It's just so comfy and fast. I've gotten far more comfortable with lane splitting in the past year and realized that even though it's big, it's not really THAT big. You can still fit it through most places, you just gotta have the balls to send it through.
Been riding it solely for the past week, but I still usually end up taking the gixxer most days. Guaranteed to fit any split, a little better fuel economy, and the valve adjustment isn't an absolute nightmare. I try to keep the commuting miles off of my zx14 because I know the valve adjustment is going to suck massive cock. Unique frame design allows for a unique aesthetic, but it makes servicing a bitch.
>>
>>29000514
I can't 'get' another bike, it's what they provide.

the guy at the driving school said that if you're getting the full A license, not a lower tier like A2 (limited to 35kW) or A1 (125cc), you have to learn on a bike that's more powerful than 35kW - required by law.

cleaning them out would be a very nice thing to do, i saw enduro riders do little expedition of those sorts with cable saws and other equipment to clean the tracks up and make sure they stay accessible. you'd be a really cool guy if you started doing that and it ensures you can have more fun yourself

mine's just a tourniquet, two celox gauzes, a sam splint and a pressure bandage. it's just in a ziplock in my backpack. could probably just get by with a tourniquet in all likelihood as massive hemorrhage is by far the thing most likely to kill you or your buddy before the ambulance arrives. you should carry one if nothing else.
see if there is something like a "stop the bleed" course near you. they give free classes on how to do stuff like applying tourniquets and packing wounds.
