The GR86 is the better car to live with. Just test drive both. If I were going to get a Z, I would just get a corvette instead. These are both pretty different cars. GR86 vs miata makes more sense. Z is competing with cars like GT mustangs.86/brz are just fun cars to throw around, everything is cheap, accessible, easy to replace. There is a reason they hold their value so well. Don't bother dropping a turbo or supercharger on it, you'll ruin the car. If you need more power its just not a car meant for you.

You could use the cost differential to get some nice mods for the 86, i.e. good coilovers, control arms, baffled oil pan, oil cooler, nice wheels/tires, and have a much better handling car overall. Doesn't have that nice turbo to just plug in access port and gain 90 more foot/lbs of torque instantly with no mods, tho.

Z is on an ancient platform and you have to pay $10k extra to get a Limited Slip on a “sports car.” Fucking insulting. The BMW Supra does everything the new Z does 10 times better. Better engine, better auto and manual trannys, better interior, better styling, better suspension, sounds better. There is no reason to buy a Z over a Zupra and that is why you never see a Z on the road.

How's the 86 for a big guy? I'm 6 foot 2, 210 pounds (188cm, 95kg for Euros). I figured a Miata would be verboten for someone of my size, so I was subtly eyeing an 86 instead, even though it isn't as much of a Grand Touring type vehicle.

>>29001636I've owned a mustang with magnaride and currently own a Z.The mustang is a softer car overall and a 2018-2020 gt with the right accessories would cost about the same as a lightly used Z performance.The Z is too soft in my opinion and I've got sway bars on order while I decide what coilovers/arms to get. It is a more tame car over all though and with tighter gearing it's more enjoyable to drive than a getrag mustang is. I've only done a test drive in a tremec but it wasn't significantly better.
