What was the top speed you did? What were the circumstances?Recently I tried one of them german autobahns, turns out I am a pussy going above 200.
I was 18, woke up at 5am on July 4th, stole the keys to his 540 (I wasn't allowed to drive it and he really never budged on that except for road trips). I picked up a friend and drove to WV. They have a highway there, many names, Corridor H, 48, 55, goes between interstate 81 near Strasburg VA and Weston, WV interstate 79 to the west, but the scenic bit is between Wardensville and Moorefield really, and at the time it was newly open as a 4 lane highway there was a motorcycle gathering or something and I kept passing them at 90 mph, I guess it had recirculating ball steering but you would never know, could handle hairpin turns at 90 mph and WV has plenty but on the open highway I got to test the top speed, the fuel cutoff at around 145mph but you could tell it could have gone faster, birds were hitting the window and dying instantly going splatI played this song at top speed:https://youtu.be/B9BrpxXB3RUIt's a cool highway, I recommend it. I made sure to check the manual that the tires were inflated before going fast and that they were speed rated to 150 (to 175 I think)It's kinda a boring car, kinda clinical, but it certainly went fast and handled well, just kinda lacked a bit of soVl. So I got greedy, and was going 120 after the top speed run and a cop pulled me over cuz duh, July 4th. Got a reckless driving citation. Had to come back a few weeks later and plead no contest and pay a 300 dollar fine. Mind you this was 20 years ago. I think the officer was impressed by how nice the car was and how fast I was going so he didn't hassle me much. My friend had Ritalin on him just loose and was telling the officer awkwardly about having ADHD and the officer is like yeah I have that too. Also we had just set off fireworks and I threw the exploded fireworks under the car but they didn't search us.
>>29001271> could handle hairpin turns at 90 mphGet the fuck out of here
I hit the governor (155-ish MPH) in a friend's 2005 Pontiac GTO on a nearly empty stretch of the Indiana toll road. I had never driven anywhere near that fast before and honestly it was a little scary.
>>29001291I ran my car up to 157 gps indicated with two bald hankooks on the back and two defective uniroyals on the front, the rear axle exploded barely 2 months later.
>>29001291similar thing with an infiniti g37. 155 and it cuts you off. i assume it's adrenaline. my vision sharpens up and my breathing becomes shallow and my hands get cold. you realize that if a deer runs out or there's a pothole or you jerk the wheel, you're just straight up dead. it's a powerful feeling. i used to do like 120-130 all the time in my 20s. now in my 30s, it's been a while since i've had the desire. weird how that works.
>>29001259130 indicated in a saab 9-3.120+ in a 76 Delta 88. Buried the speedo needle into the dash, and this was pre-cell phones so no gps. Estimated 140+
>>29001259151mph at turn 1.Pacific Raceways Kent WA.
135 mph
>>29001259>Absolute shitbox>Speedo goes up to 250mph
>>29001259juuust hit 200 kph/125 mph in my cressida on a shitty country back road. very smooth, wheels must've been bouncing like crazy, but inside the cab it more or less floated along slowly bobbing up and down. ran out of road before i could go any faster.hit 150/95 in a 67 plymouth fury down another back road. engine still kept going but we weren't suicidal enough yet to push it any further. also a pretty smooth ride.
>>29001259Yo-
Engine screaming at 7k rpm, 4th gear, 180kmh.It revs to 8k with no load, but it doesn't have almost any torque past 6krpm and dies out at 7k. Maybe a 5 speed would've let me go 200kmh/120mph
>>29003011my shitbox goes up to 220kphit has 70hp
>>29003112I like that you can see the IC warning lights even when not illuminated
172 mph on a motorcycle Quite a lot of fun, but not something I'd make a habit of
>>29001259yeah I've done the whole speedo once or twice in my worn out old van with an 85mph speedometer, my equinox goes up to 160 so even though it has a lot of horses and a 9 speed I doubt that's ever gonna happen, and I put a police speedo in my vic so idk if 140 is ever gonna happen
>>29004462but to answer I think I've done maybe 120 in the 'nox, 99 in the vic before I ran out of straight road, and like 86 in the van
Ive reached 158kmh a few times lately in my id buzz haha
>>29001259did 300 km/h (on the speedometer) for the first time, in my Porsche 996 3.6. German Autobahn. It was still sweaty even after multiple times getting close to 300. The car has a lot of wind noise, suspension is not great since it is lowered, the car is light so every wind feels like it is gonna carry it away, the wide tyres cause a lot of tramlining, the steering is very reactive, I have no traction control, so yeah you can understand why the 930 was called the widow maker
>>29001259112 mphThat's when I learned my car was electronically limited to 112. Which made me sad.
175 mph gauge indicated in an '06 STi with the boost turned up on the stock turbo. Hit it 3 times over several years... on V speed rated tires (max ~145 mph).Used to take my Integra (RSX) a bit over 130 all the time.Have taken multiple Wranglers and Miatas to 125.Topped-out many that fuel cut between 95-99. Drove a smart fortwo at 98 (99 it cuts) for an hour one time.I really don't want to go over about 140mph anymore, but I enjoy having the memory.
2012 shitty cruze - 113 (limiter) multiple times on bfe interstate sections2014 genesis coupe - 140 or 145 (limiter) down another interstate in texas2013 camaro - 155 (not limiter) up a steep freeway section, only stopped because traffic and hotbed for cops near the end of the month
>>29005028>on V speed rated tiresthe speed rating just means the maximum sustained speed. if you only go over it for a short amount of time it's not gonna do anything. but don't push your luck
